Since the second half of last year, there have been frequent reports of shortages in the market. Due to factors such as insufficient upstream wafer foundry and packaging and testing capacity, downstream chips are in short supply, resulting in extended delivery times and rising prices.
In order to give everyone a comprehensive understanding of the latest delivery dates and price trends of various semiconductor devices in the fourth quarter of 2021, we are based on the "2021 Q4 Market Report" updated on November 19, 2021 by Future Electronics, a global electronic components agency. , sorting out the latest delivery dates and price trends of six categories: high-end devices, discrete devices, analog devices, radio frequency and wireless chips, memory and passive devices.
High-end devices
In terms of high-end devices, this time a total of 20 well-known brands including ST (STMicroelectronics), Cypress, Renesas Electronics, Microchip, and NXP were counted, with a total of 42 products. Among them, ST's 8-bit MCU, 32-bit MCU, automotive MCU, STM32F0, STM32F1, and STM32L are in the delivery status in the Q4 delivery period, and most of the delivery times and prices are on an upward trend. NXP's 8-bit MCU, 32-bit MCU, automotive MCU, 32-bit MPU and network processor are also in the delivery status in Q4. , the delivery date and price are all on the upward trend.
In addition, Renesas Electronics' 8-bit MCU, 32-bit MCU, automotive MCU and 32-bit MPU delivery time is 40-45 weeks . The delivery time has an obvious upward trend, but the price of Renesas Electronics' 32-bit MCU Showing a stable trend. Microchip (Microchip) has the longest delivery time for high-end devices, with the longest delivery time of 52 weeks + for 8-bit MCU, 32-bit MCU, 32-bit MPU, PHY/Ethernet and USB. Prices and delivery times are on the rise. It is worth noting that the delivery time of Microsemi's FPGA and PHY/Ethernet has been extended to 34-52 weeks, and the price is also on the rise.
discrete devices
In terms of discrete devices, there are a total of 9 major brands with a total of 84 products. It mainly includes low-voltage Mosfet, high-voltage Mosfet, TVS diode, bridge rectifier, Schottky diode, rectifier, IGBT, switching diode and other products. Due to the variety of products, the product delivery time varies greatly, falling between 2-80 weeks .
Among them, Vishay's bridge rectifier has the longest delivery period, which is 26-80 weeks. The longest delivery period of 80 weeks means that some rectifier products cannot be obtained until the second half of the year after the order is placed now. . Secondly, the delivery period of rectifiers from Vishay, Diodes and ST continues to lengthen, reaching 8-75 weeks , and the price also rises accordingly. The delivery period of low-voltage Mosfet of the 9 major brands in the table in Q4 is 42-52 weeks , and the delivery period and price are continuing to rise. The delivery period of high voltage Mosfet in Q4 falls within 26-52 weeks .
It is worth noting that Nexperia's switching diodes, small signal Mosfets, Zener diodes, bipolar transistors, digital transistors/RETS and general transistors are all delivered for 6-52 weeks , and the prices are unstable. The market makes selective adjustments.
analog devices
Analog devices, a total of 19 brands and a total of 40 products are counted. According to statistics, the delivery times of sensors, switching regulators, automotive analog and power supplies, signal chains, timing, and interfaces have been significantly lengthened, and the brands involved include NXP, ON Semiconductor, Renesas Electronics, Infineon, MPS, Melexis, and Microchip , Bosch et al. Among them, the switching regulator of MPS (Xinyuan) has the longest delivery time, which is 50-58 weeks.. The delivery period of NXP (NXP)'s sensors, interfaces, automotive simulation and power supplies in Q4 is 6-52 weeks , and prices are also on an upward trend.
Renesas Electronics' signal chain, timing, interface and turn-on voltage regulator products have a delivery time of 40-50 weeks , with delivery times and prices showing an upward trend.Infineon's sensors, switching regulators, automotive analog and power supplies have delivery times of 8-52 weeks + , and delivery times and prices are also on the rise.
RF and wireless chips
In terms of RF and wireless chips, a total of 13 major brands are counted, covering 26 products. The delivery time and price of Bluetooth module, WiFi module and cellular module are all on the upward trend, and the delivery time falls in 26-64 weeks . Among them, Bluetooth modules and WiFi modules from MuRate (Murata) and u-blox are in short supply. The latest supply situation of
cellular modules shows that the impact of the AKM factory fire at the beginning of the year on its supply has been reduced, but due to tight supply of some components, its delivery period is still unstable.
In addition to ST's transceiver/receiver, the delivery time is relatively long, which is 52 weeks . The delivery time and price of other brands such as NXP, Microchip and Melexis are relatively stable, and the delivery time is 6-26 weeks .
memory
memory, a total of 13 major brands and a total of 39 products were counted this time. Among them, Samsung's PC (commercial) DRAM, memory modules, eMMC and solid-state drives (SSD) are currently in short supply. The Q4 delivery period is 52-54 weeks. There is no quotation for the time being, and Samsung does not accept any new orders.. Macronix (Hongwang Electronics) eMMC is also in short supply, with a delivery period of 52-54 weeks. There is currently no quotation and no new orders are accepted .
Except Samsung and Hongwang Electronics, the delivery dates for memory modules, solid-state drives (SSD), and eMMC of other brands are all stable, with delivery dates falling within 6-16 weeks, and prices are also on a stable trend. In addition, Microchip's NOR flash memory, EEPROM and ST's EEPROM are currently in short supply. The Q4 delivery period falls between 20-54 weeks , and both the delivery period and price are on an upward trend. Cypress (Cypress) NOR flash memory, FRAM and NVSRAM delivery time is a bit tight, the delivery period falls within 6-52 weeks , and the price is also on an upward trend.
Passive components
In terms of passive components, a total of 52 products were counted, involving 11 brands, mainly including Yageo, Murata, Taiyo Yuden, TDK, Vishay, Samsung Electronics, Panasonic, Nichicon (Nichicon), etc. Among them, the delivery time and price of surface-mount general-purpose ceramic capacitors, leaded ceramic capacitors and special-purpose capacitors are relatively stable, with delivery times falling within 24-38 weeks . The Q4 delivery dates and prices of fixed resistors from Yageo, Vishay, Samsung Electronics and Panasonic have all shown an upward trend, with delivery times falling within 24-52 weeks . The delivery period of inductors/transformers from Murata, TDK, Vishay, Panasonic, and NIC Components falls within 2-30 weeks , and the prices show a stable trend.
Overall, the supply of passive components is the most stable, followed by storage chips; the supply of high-end components and discrete components is the most tight, followed by analog components, radio frequency and wireless chips.
This may indicate that the strong demand for semiconductors will not change, and the long-lasting global core shortage has not been fundamentally alleviated in Q4. Judging from the supply situation of MCUs and automotive chips, as major automobile manufacturers gradually resume production capacity in the second half of this year, these two chips, which were the first to suffer from the core shortage wave that broke out at the end of 2020, are experiencing further core shortages.
From the IC channel point of view, Dalianda Investment Control previously pointed out that the current mature process semiconductors include analog IC, power management IC (PMIC), metal oxide semi-field effect transistor (MOSFET), microcontroller (MCU), Wi-Fi -Fi Netcom and other applications have limited new capacity additions and may be short for a whole year until the end of next year. In terms of advanced processes, supply problems are expected to gradually improve in the first half of next year after upstream wafer production capacity is expanded.
