She is not a young lady from the Jia family, nor is she a relative of the Jia family, but a nun who was invited to the Grand View Garden Cuicui Nunnery. In the "The True Book of the Twelve Beauties of Jinling" written by "Bo Mingsi" in Taixu Illusion, she ranked sixth, above Wang Xifeng .
"Her temperament is as beautiful as an orchid, and her talent is as fragrant as an immortal." She has a beauty and talent that is not inferior to Daiyu , but she is also even more arrogant and withdrawn than Daiyu. Some people even believe that the Daiyu in the secular world is the Miaoyu who is "at home", while the "Miaoyu" in Buddhism is the Daiyu who has become a monk.
"If you want to be clean, you will never be clean, but the clouds may not be empty." She wears Taoist robes , but after all she cannot escape from the world; she compares herself to " an outsider ", but in the end she is trapped in the world of mortals, secretly expressing her affection.
In the 41st chapter, Jia Mu took Grandma Liu to visit the Grand View Garden. When they swam to Cicui Temple to have tea and rest, Miaoyu slowly appeared. This was her first frontal appearance.
When tasting tea, even in the face of Jia Mu, the highest authority in the Jia family, she was neither humble nor overbearing, nor attentive. Instead, she went indoors alone with Daiyu and Baochai to taste her tea. Miaoyu used antique teacups for Baochai and Daiyu, while the tea set for Baoyu was the green jade bucket she used to drink tea every day.
Like Miaoyu, who is famous for her obsession with cleanliness, Grandma Liu drank tea from a cup. She would throw the cup away and wash the ground she walked on with water, but she was willing to give away the cup she drank from. Needless to say, the use of gems and jade is so affectionate.

Li Wan saw that the red plums served by Miaoyu were very beautiful, but did not like Miaoyu's personality, so he punished Baoyu to go to Cuicui Temple to ask for red plums. Probably even they noticed that Miaoyu was different from ordinary people towards Baoyu.

In "A Dream of Red Mansions", Daiyu and Miaoyu love Baoyu equally, but one is bright and the other is dark. Miaoyu's life experience, identity and temperament determine that her love can only remain silent in her heart.
She was originally from Suzhou, and her ancestors also came from a family of scholars and officials. Because she was sick since childhood, she bought many stand-ins, but they were all useless. In the end, she had to become a Buddhist herself. She was probably not yet 8 years old when she became a monk. It can be seen that her monkhood was not like the later monks of Xichun, Zijuan, and Baoyu.
After that, both her parents died, and she was left with only two old ladies and a little girl to serve her. In the vast world, Daiyu still has her grandmother to rely on, but she is completely helpless.
After becoming a monk, she tried her best to abide by the Buddhist rules. However, how can a young girl completely end her attachment to the mortal world? She regards Baoyu as a confidant, but she can only express love and not be polite. She turns her full love into a cup of tea, a page of congratulations, and a branch of red plum.
Others only saw her arrogance and aloofness, but they never thought that she also had a hot heart under her cold temperament.
