recently saw the news about iMessage sending spam messages. Some people say that you can block spam messages by turning off iMessage and rejecting iMessages from non-address book friends. These two methods are effective. Some people also say not to use qq mailbox as Apple ID. I think this method is useless. I found a new method that may be effective and tell you why "using a non-qq mailbox as an Apple ID cannot effectively block iMessage spam".
Open Settings - Information - Open iMessage - Send and receive - Ways to contact you through iMessage. There are three options below, iCloud account, Apple ID, and mobile phone number. Turning off your mobile phone number will also effectively prevent iMessage spam.
The principle of iMessage spam is: advertisers buy tens of thousands of mobile phone numbers and use them to send mass text messages to iOS devices connected to WiFi. Generally, users will allow iMessage to be contacted through mobile phone numbers, so advertisers connected to the network can send free iMessages directly to these users. The advertiser's iOS device that turns on airplane mode cannot send text messages, so it cannot be sent to the remaining users who are not bound to iMessage. In this way, advertisers can filter out mobile phone numbers that have been bound to iMessage, so that they can directly send unlimited spam messages in the future.
Do you understand now? Advertisers send spam messages not through your Apple ID, but like spam text messages, it is your mobile phone number! Therefore, turning off mobile phone number binding can effectively block this kind of spam. Of course, there is a drawback to this method, that is, your friends cannot send iMessages directly to your mobile phone number.
