On December 11, 2021, the Xiatang Police Station of the Yushan County Public Security Bureau traveled thousands of miles to Baoding City, Hebei Province and captured a criminal suspect suspected of covering up and concealing the proceeds of a crime.
Here’s what happened
On December 28, 2020, the Yushan County Public Security Bureau detected a series of cases of theft of communication base station equipment and captured the suspect Su.
This Su is an external employee of a company and is responsible for the installation and maintenance of communication base stations. However, he has been committing theft. Since October 2020, in Xinzhou District, Yushan County, Xiatang Township, Sigukiao Township, Yanrui Town, etc. Locally, the PON board, OLT board and other major base station equipment in the communication base station were stolen wildly, causing the interruption of many communication networks and causing serious adverse effects on the production and life of the people. After learning the clues, the police from Xiatang Police Station identified the suspect Su through careful investigation and precise judgment, and captured him in Guangxin District on December 28, 2020.
The reason why Su wanted to steal communication base station equipment crazily was because he had sales channels and could sell it for illegal profits.
According to Su's confession, he first searched online and found the phone number of a person who specialized in purchasing communication equipment. After contacting him, the person called himself Liu, and then the two parties negotiated the details of the purchase and sale. After Su succeeded in stealing for the first time, he sold the communication base station equipment to Liu as agreed, making an illegal profit of several thousand yuan. After that, the two conspired to commit crimes many times. Liu also went to Shangrao to meet with Su offline. Whenever Su stole "goods", he would buy them immediately.
After learning that Su was arrested, Liu quickly disappeared and the Yushan County Public Security Bureau tracked him many times.
In early December 2021, with the assistance of relevant departments of the Xiatang Police Station of the Yushan County Public Security Bureau, and through technical analysis, they learned that the suspect was in his hometown of Baoding City, Hebei Province, and immediately organized a capable police force to pursue him. On December 11, 2021, with the strong cooperation of the local police and the persuasion of the police at the police station, Liu voluntarily surrendered.
According to Liu’s confession, he specializes in acquiring and reselling communication equipment. In 2018, he registered a “renewable resource recycling” company and found someone to help him build a website online. He put his phone number, WeChat ID, QQ and other contact information are hung on the website, waiting for others to find him to "discuss business". In October 2020, the criminal suspect Su contacted him and asked him if he would accept accessories for the communication base station? He expressed that he wanted to take it, and then negotiated the price. After that, he bought as much as Su stole. As of the incident, in just 2 months, Liu had purchased and resold Su's stolen goods, making an illegal profit of nearly 10,000 yuan.
Currently, the criminal suspect Liu has been criminally detained by the public security organs in accordance with the law.
Legal provisions on "disposal of stolen goods"
According to the provisions of Article 312 of the "Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China": knowingly harboring, transferring, acquiring, selling on behalf of criminal proceeds and the proceeds generated therefrom, or otherwise concealing them , concealing, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention or surveillance, and shall also or solely be fined; if the circumstances are serious, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years and not more than seven years, and shall also be fined.
If a unit commits the crime in the preceding paragraph, the unit shall be fined, and the person directly in charge and other directly responsible personnel shall be punished in accordance with the provisions of the preceding paragraph.
