It has been half a month since we arrived in Xinjiang.
The unit where we are assisting Xinjiang is the People's Procuratorate of Chepaizi Reclamation District of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. The unit address is Seventh Division 123rd Regiment (more than 300 kilometers away from Urumqi), and the administrative division is Tacheng District Wusu City However, because the headquarters of the Seventh Division is in Kuitun City, Yili Prefecture, the 123rd Regiment falls under the jurisdiction of Kuitun City. These are the two parallel management systems of the Construction Corps and local administration that are unique to Xinjiang. The organs of the Construction Corps only manage matters within divisions, regiments, and companies under their jurisdiction. For example, my unit only handles cases involving Corps personnel, so this There are fewer cases on the side. The hospital has 18 police officers on staff and 16 on duty. But don’t think that it’s easy because there are few cases here. Stability maintenance work is very important.In the past half month, the hospital has held six plenary meetings. At each meeting, three key tasks during Ramadan must be emphasized: maintaining stability, uniting the nation as a family, and alleviating poverty. The stability maintenance duty here is completely different from the duty at the Jiangyin City Procuratorate. There are three people on duty in one shift, all of whom are on duty 24 hours a day. Personnel on duty need to report safety to superior units regularly and conduct security checks and registration of all outsiders. Ethnic unity and family members require that they go to the homes of paired ethnic minority relatives to eat, live, study, and work together with their relatives, help them solve their difficulties, and carry out social activities.
After being here for half a month, I feel that there are three major differences in life: jet lag, climate, and diet. First of all, the lighting time here is very long. The sun comes out at around six o'clock in the morning, but it doesn't set until ten o'clock in the evening, so the work and rest time in Xinjiang is two hours later than that in Jiangyin. In the first few days after arriving, I still woke up after six o'clock, and it was difficult to fall asleep if I continued to sleep. I was not in good spirits. I used the method of going to bed later at night to force myself to wake up later, and taking a lunch break after dinner to make up for my sleep. Now I feel much better. The second is the climate. There is good sunlight here and the evaporation of water is large. In addition, there is not much rain, and the air is relatively dry. The normal humidity is below 30%. I usually pay more attention to hydration, and this has the least impact on me. Finally, what has the greatest impact on me is the diet. The diet here in Xinjiang is mainly pasta. The staple food is noodles, steamed buns, steamed buns, etc., and rice is relatively small. The residents of the 123rd Regiment where the unit is located are mainly members of the Corps and there are very few outsiders, so it is difficult to find a restaurant where you can eat rice. In order to take care of me, the aunt in the cafeteria sometimes makes a little rice for me alone. The dishes here are mainly spicy. Basically all the dishes have chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns. Even the flower rolls are spicy. I really didn’t get used to it when I ate it for the first time.
However, life in Xinjiang is both bitter and sweet. In addition, my colleagues here take good care of me. They do not arrange for me to participate in stability maintenance duties at work, and they treat me with courtesy in life. The climate is dry but the air is good and there are many blue skies; I am not used to eating, but there are fresh ripe strawberries to eat in the yard; I am far away from home and miss my wife and children, but I am accompanied by enthusiastic colleagues every day.
I will devote myself to the work of aiding Xinjiang as soon as possible, adapt to the environment here, and better contribute my small amount to the social stability and long-term peace and order of Xinjiang.
