Yilhuli Mountain is a high mountain in the northernmost part of the Ali River in the Greater Khingan Mountains of Inner Mongolia. The terrain is steep and there are no forest farms or residents nearby, but it is the home of wild animals.
The Yilhuri Mountain Observation Tower was established in 2007. At that time, because the watchtower was built in a place with high mountains and far away rivers, deep forests and abundant grass, and only primitive forest trails, the materials on the tower could only be carried on the shoulders of manpower; to draft water, one had to carry water in a ditch 2 kilometers down the mountain, carrying water at a time. 20 kilograms, it takes more than 2 hours; on a windy day, you can't light a fire to cook, so you eat a steamed bun and a piece of pickles...
Although the conditions are difficult, Zhou Guibo and her husband Jin Yanlong make the mountains their home and are stationed on the mountains. The "couple" watchtowers together guard the safety of 471,000 acres of forest.

Jin Yanlong is 57 years old this year. He started working in 1981 and became a lookout in 2000. He has been connected to the mountains for most of his life. He was transferred from the southern watchtower to the northern Yilhurli Mountain watchtower. Jin Yanlong said that he liked this mountain.
On weekdays, Jin Yanlong can count its different beauties in detail: "In spring, the azaleas are in full bloom all over the mountain, and there is a faint fragrance in the air; in summer, the mountains are full of green and surrounded by clouds and mist; in autumn, the rolling hills are The mountains are colorful; in winter, the mountains and forests become crystal clear, like a fairy tale world. "
In 2018, Alihe Forest Engineering Company built a couple's observation tower, and Jin Yanlong asked his wife Zhou Guibo to move from the town to the deep mountains and old forests. Their "home in the woods."
57-year-old Zhou Guibo is gentle in speech, loves beauty, and acts neatly. She knew that every year from March to June and September to November was the forest fire prevention period, half of the year in the mountains.
Even though they were the only couple on the mountain, Zhou Guibo also brought cosmetics with him when he went up the mountain. Jin Yanlong said jokingly: "In this deep mountain and old forest, no one looks at you except me. Why are you so stinky!"
Zhou Guibo smiled and glared at her husband and said, "Then I also have to protect my skin."

Zhou Guibo comforted himself while getting up and challenging the tower again. When she climbed to the top of the watchtower and got into the hexagonal hut on the top of the tower, she was as happy as a child and shouted to her husband: "Yanlong, I'm coming up. You go down to eat."
The challenges in the watchtower came one after another.

My wife was so frightened that she didn't dare to sleep all night."
The job of a lookout may seem simple, but it is actually very dangerous.
"The real danger is lightning strikes in summer." As an old lookout, Jin Yanlong told reporters that the observation tower attracts lightning strikes, and the lookout needs to judge the direction of the lightning strike. If the lightning strikes near the tower, he must get off the tower in the shortest possible time. , hiding in the bungalow. "When the lightning strikes pass, immediately go up to the tower and look out."
"The clouds are moving sideways, and the smoke is running straight up; burning trees is black smoke, and burning grass is white smoke..." At work, Zhou Guibo always asked "teacher "Jin Yanlong asked for advice.
"Look around for ten minutes and report the situation every half hour." In 5 years, Zhou Guibo has grown into a qualified "forest guard". She can accurately and timely tell the location of fire points and can also judge what is happening. Lightning strikes and fires are very likely to occur under weather conditions.
"In the past, there was no electricity or Internet on the watchtower, and we lived an isolated life. Now the conditions are better, we live in a brick house, and there are walls inside."
