Ni Kuang, formerly known as Ni Cong, also named Yi Ming, was born in Shanghai on May 30, 1935, and his native place is Ningbo, Zhejiang. Ni Kuang worked as a worker, proofreader, and editor in Hong Kong, became self-taught, and eventually became a professional writer.
Ni Kuang's writing content is very rich. He has written novels including detectives, science fiction, gods and monsters, martial arts, and romance. He has also written serials for 12 newspapers at the same time. Together with Jin Yong , Huang Zhan and Cai Lam, he is also known as "Hong Kong" "Four Great Talents". Representative works include " Wesley ", "Yuan Zhenxia", "Prodigal Son Gundam", "Black Lady Mulan" and other series.

His martial arts novels are represented by " Six Finger Qin Demon ". He also ghostwrote the serialization of "The Eight Parts of the Dragon" while Jin Yong was abroad.
Ni Kuang has also written more than 300 film scripts. In 1972, Ni Kuang participated in the screenwriting work of the Hong Kong Jiahe Kung Fu film "Fist of Fury" and created the classic image of "Chen Zhen" tailored for Bruce Lee.
His science fiction novel "Wesley" series has been adapted into film and television works many times, including "Yuan Zhenxia and Wesley" directed by Lan Naicai in 1986, and "The Legend of Wesley" directed by Teddy Robin in 1987 ", 2002's "Blue Bloods ", etc. The actors who starred in the role of "Wesley" include Xu Guanjie, Chow Yun-fat , Luo Jialiang, etc.

Ni Kuang's sister is the famous novelist Yishu, whose real name is Ni Yishu. Ni Kuang once joked that his sister's books were more popular than his. On his 40th birthday, Ni Kuang once wrote a couplet for his birthday: "When you are old, you are not confused, you are neither civilized nor martial, and you don't know what you are doing; there is not much time left, you have no desires and no pursuits, it is nothing more than this." He also wrote his own epitaph: "Think more about my good things during my lifetime, and don't talk about my bad things after my death."
