As the People's Party has recently been frequently beckoning to the Kuomintang to expand its territory, Cai Biru, the convener of the People's Party's election campaign group, said that rather than a "Blue and White Alliance", it should be pushing for a "grand opposition alliance" to lock in the DPP's long-term dominance. In southern counties and cities, the "opposition" jointly recommended "non-party membership" candidates in an effort to reverse the situation. As for whether the Kaohsiung mayoral election can be a "blue-white tie", Ke Wenzhe said with reservations that this is a long-term issue.
Ke Wenzhe is actively planning for the county and city elections at the end of 2022. He is currently looking for local grassroots election candidates. There are already 12 candidates for county and city councilors south of Yunlin, including 2 in Yunlin, Tainan5, and 3 in Kaohsiung. There will be more, not less, seats in Pingtung and Pingtung in the future. In this regard, Cai Biru said that from a pragmatic perspective, it is more difficult for political parties with different ideas and attributes to negotiate cooperation in elections. She believes that it may be more feasible if Blue and White can jointly promote a "grand opposition alliance", targeting Tainan and Kaohsiung, where the Democratic Progressive Party has long been in power, and jointly support candidates to run for office as "non-party members", but so far there has been no progress.
In the face of "opposition" cooperation, KMT Chairman Zhu Lilun recently stated that the KMT has different strategic considerations in various places. Whether it is Chiayi, Kaohsiung, Tainan, or Pingtung, they all hope that "opposition forces" can cooperate respectively. This includes the Kuomintang, non-party members and friends from all political parties. The more cooperation there is, the greater the chances of winning the election will be created. The Kuomintang Organization and Development Conference stated that the Kuomintang regards different constituencies as having different considerations and hopes to integrate "opposition forces" to win the election together.
