The Terra Nova landscape is located in the middle of the Fraser River and showcases Numerous landscape types: intertidal foreshores, banks, residual marshes and past and present agricultural land. The event space draws on the forms and characteristics of these existing typologies, integrating and embedding the event space into the garden.

Hapa and Lynne Werker designed a children's public activity space that includes an older children's group, a team of consultants who guided us through the initial fact-finding and area analysis process, and a younger children's group made up of students from two local schools, providing their perspectives and design concepts. The end result: a garden that matches the local context, its composition and Terra Nova’s formal language of “imperfect grid”.
