GIS-KY Yecheng Optoelectronics, a major

touch panel manufacturer, benefited from the shipment of notebook computer (NB) and tablet computer module product orders in the first quarter of this year. Although its single-quarter revenue fell by 19.3% quarter-on-quarter, it increased by 11.62% year-on-year. It is initially estimated that demand will remain stable in the second quarter, but the actual performance depends on the situation of the mainland supply chain.

Currently, GIS-KY’s orders on hand include demand for tablet computers and laptop computer modules. If there are no surprises, there is a chance that shipments and revenue in the second quarter will be better than those in the first quarter.

However, due to the recent closed management situation in many provinces and cities in mainland China, coupled with transportation problems, whether it will further affect the final shipments of the entire supply chain manufacturers requires continued observation.

Benefited from the increase in tablet computer and NB module production capacity and the growth in supply market share, GIS-KY's revenue in the first quarter of this year fell to NT$28.135 billion due to the off-season effect, a quarterly decrease of 19.3%, but an annual increase of 11.62%. In March, due to the recovery of working days and shipments, monthly revenue rose to NT$12.85 billion, a monthly increase of 36.8% and an annual increase of 20.04%.

GIS-KY's Shenzhen factory temporarily suspended operations for several days in mid-March this year to comply with the local government's epidemic prevention requirements, but later resumed production on March 21. However, it is unclear whether the lockdown measures that have been launched by various provinces and cities will have a wider impact on the shipments of the entire tablet computer and NB product supply chain.

GIS-KY will mainly focus on tablet computers and NB-related module products this year. It is expected that new NB LCM production capacity will join operations in the second quarter. In addition to the ultrasonic under-screen fingerprint recognition products that continue to be supplied to Korean customers, touch fingerprint recognition products are also available to American customers.
