Due to the previous failure to reach a consensus on the candidate for the national team’s head coach, today (29th) the Sports Administration urgently invited the China Baseball Association and the Chinese Professional Baseball League to hold a second tripartite meeting in the hope of confirming the head coach. , in order to rush to submit the 50-man observation list of the Chinese team for the 2017 World Baseball Classic before October 7.
Unfortunately, the Chinese Professional Baseball League still insisted in the meeting today that the operation of the national team must be fully taken over by the secondary professional baseball team. This is contrary to the cooperation model established by the previous tripartite meeting and the government. Therefore, neither the association nor the Sports Department can agree.
Although the Chinese Professional Baseball League and the Chinese Baseball Association each proposed different head coach candidates at the meeting, the Sports Administration, when voting on behalf of the decisive third party, decided to appoint Guo Taiyuan as the head coach based on international competition experience and continued experience in the world's top 12 competitions.
