John Wall’s contract not tradeable?
When Wall is healthy, he is easily one of the best point guards in the NBA. The 29-year-old player has career averages of 19 points and 9 assists per game, and has had 10+ assists for three consecutive seasons. He can attack the rim, and he's developed an outside shot. These improvements have helped Wall become one of the best weapons in the East. After
was selected to the NBA All-NBA Third Team in the 2016-17 season, Wall received a super contract. Super contracts are a way for low-market teams to retain superstars. Once a player earns that contract, the team can pay him more money each year on a contract.
This was honored by Wall in the previous collective bargaining agreement. During the 2017 offseason, he signed a four-year contract worth $171 million, which is expected to help Washington achieve greater success in the playoffs. The reason why this contract
cannot be traded is because of the 15% transaction commission (transaction fee).
Is Wall vulnerable to injury?
Wall signed a contract extension that does not start until the 2019-20 NBA season. The point guard played in only 41 games due to knee surgery and other injuries. He looks forward to returning in All-Star form in the 2018-19 season. Because Achilles was injured that year, Wall's return was shortened.
Wall missed too much time. Complications from the initial surgery forced him to undergo another surgery. This ultimately ruled him out of the 2019-20 season.
How will the Washington Wizards fare without him?
The Wizards finished the 2018-19 season with a 32-50 record, and was 24-40 this year before the game was postponed. The team's defense can also be said to be the worst in the league. 's defense ranks last, averaging 119.7 points per game, which is also second to last. When he comes back, will he still have the same explosiveness?
