The 13th National Games will be held in Tianjin in 2017, with a total of 31 major events and 341 minor events. Badminton is one of the major events, with 7 minor events, namely:
men (3 events): singles, doubles, and team.
Women (3 events): singles, doubles, team.
Mixed (1 item): Mixed doubles.
Tianjin Gymnasium
The badminton competition of the 13th National Games is planned to be held at Tianjin Gymnasium. The stadium was completed in 1994 and covers an area of 12.23 hectares. It is located at No. 90 Weijin South Road, Nankai District, Tianjin City, about 10 kilometers away from the National Games Village. It has hosted the World Table Tennis Championships, World Gymnastics Championships, Asian Men's Volleyball Championships, Asian Men's Basketball Championship , East Asian Games gymnastics competition and other important international events. The competition venue is 100 meters long, 50 meters wide and 28 meters high; there are 8,456 spectator seats; 98 rostrum seats; 350 press seats with tables; lighting intensity 1,200 lux ; and 2 large screens that can display text and images. Ancillary facilities include: athlete lounges, referees lounges, doping control stations, VIP rooms, press conference rooms, etc., with IT network and television broadcast conditions. The pre-game warm-up hall is 41 meters long and 22 meters wide.
The mascot - Jinwa
"Jinwa" is based on the characters of the famous Chinese and foreign Tianjin Yangliuqing wooden New Year paintings. The image has a typical national style and strong Tianjin characteristics. The "Jinba" holds the National Games torch and conveys the The spirit of the National Games and the people of Tianjin’s longing for the “National Games”, and the shape of the flame 13 conveys the message of the “13th National Games”.
