Like most people, I have been struggling with which is better, electric water heater or gas water heater . Even more confused than many people: I renovated it 3 years ago and installed an electric water heater. But I have been uneasy in the past three years and feel that the gas water heater may be more useful. Until the first half of this year, I changed a gas water heater. Then he came out of the entanglement: It turns out that "the world is as black as a crow", there is no perfection, it just has its own pros and cons!
Today I will share my feelings about using two kinds of water heaters - if you are also struggling, you will probably get the answer after reading this article. There are specific choice suggestions at the end of the article.
defects of electric water heater
. The water volume is limited
The most common capacity of household electric water heater is 60L; if you want to buy a larger one, you can still buy 80L. But for example, whether it is 60L or 80L, the amount of hot water is limited and it will be gone after use.
Some people have bathtubs at home. One bathtub can hold more than 200 liters of water, so they can basically say goodbye to the electric water heater. My house has a large shower with a flow rate of 15L/min. I often have no hot water when I take a shower halfway through the shower.
. The heating speed is slow
When using an electric water heater, the thing I don’t like the most is business trip: after going out for several days, the electric water heater at home must be powered off. I just got home and wanted to take a hot shower, so I had to wait for more than an hour to heat up the water.
gas water heater is instant hot and is usually in a closed state. When you use water, start heating. The water can be boiled to a specified temperature within 5 seconds, eliminating the trouble of waiting for the water to boil.
. The volume is too large
This is also the reason why I finally decided to replace the electric water heater - the electric water heater is too big and directly occupy half of the space on the wall. There are some small-volume electric water heaters on the market now, but they are not as small as gas water heaters.
gas water heater is the same size as laptop , and the thickness is about one-third of that of an electric water heater. Whether visually or spatially, the impact on us can be minimized.
defects of gas water heater
. There are restrictions on the installation location
electric water heater can be installed as long as it is not an open-air environment. Gas water heater has many requirements for installation location. For example, there must be gas pipes, windows, etc. Therefore, gas water heaters are usually installed in the kitchen.
Like my kitchen, it is quite far from the bathroom. Every time you use water, you have to put cold water in one minute first. Moreover, the distance between the pipes is too long, and hot water will cool down in the pipes. This results in the efficiency of the gas water heater becoming very low and a lot of heat is wasted.
. Hot water is incoherent
I thought it was the only one of my gas water heaters like this, but I asked many people, and they all had this question: During the bathing process, you must not use water all the time. The shower must be on for a while and closed for a while.
When the shower is turned off and turned on again, the gas water heater needs to be restarted. During this period, about 5 seconds of cold water will be generated, which will suddenly appear when we flush, cutting the entire bathing experience in a mess.
. High noise
gas water heater is noisy when working, and it is not small. This is because there is a fan inside the gas water heater to discharge exhaust gas. As long as the gas water heater is boiling water, it will definitely make a buzzing sound. How loud can
be? Let's put it this way: it's a little less noise than the range hood. But standing in the kitchen, I can't hear the people outside the kitchen clearly. Which one should I buy
?
Look at the flaws mentioned above. Are there any of them that you can't accept? If so, choose another one.If you can accept it, you can determine which one to buy according to the following method:
First look at the installation location —Is there any natural gas in the kitchen? Do you have windows? Can the kitchen exterior wall be drilled? The gas water heater has too high requirements for the installation location. If these hard conditions cannot be met, they can only install an electric water heater.
Then check the hot water usage —If you have a bathtub at home, or if you have a large population, it is recommended to choose a gas water heater. Electric water heaters also have products above 100L, but they consume very high power and have extremely low cost performance. They are not recommended to choose.
Finally evaluate the cost of using —In some places, natural gas is very cheap, so gas water heater is the first choice. Some people live in apartments, and the commercial electricity bill is quite high, and gas water heaters are also recommended.
Used by ordinary users, the cost of gas water heaters and electric water heaters is similar. However, the gas water heater has a higher failure rate and higher maintenance costs, and the overall cost is slightly higher than that of electric water heaters.
That’s all, do you have your own choice in your mind? If you have any questions, you can tell me in the comment section!
