When decorating a home, we all face a choice: when laying tiles in the bathroom and kitchen, should we choose to press the floor or the floor to press the wall?
The reason is very simple. The construction method, construction order, construction period, and cost of the wall pressing wall are different, and the effect of laying is different. If we don’t say it in advance, the tiler will do it according to his plan, and finally the tiles are laid, which is inconsistent with the owner’s idea, and they will inevitably argue with each other and have unpleasant quarrels.
Wall tiles and floor tiles, who will press against whom? What is the difference between the two laying methods? How do we choose? Today, let’s listen to the truth about the bricklayer:
floor pressing wall
bathroom and kitchen tiles are laid. The conventional order of laying tiles is to lay wall tiles first, then floor tiles. This sort of laying order also leads to the floor tiles in many bathrooms and kitchen tiles being laid on the floor tiles - floor tiles are laid against wall tiles.
Because when the floor is just laid, the tiles have to wait until the tiles are completely dry (3 to 5 days) before they can step on them. Therefore, if you lay the wall tiles first, we can lay the floor tiles immediately after laying the wall tiles, without worrying about stepping on the laid floor tiles, which is more conducive to shortening the construction period, which is also the advantage of floor pressing walls.
However, there are many disadvantages in laying ground-pressed walls. First of all, it will leave a very obvious "slit to the sky", which looks very unsightly; and this "slit to the sky" will also become a place where dirt is hidden and dirt is difficult to clean and manage; finally, there is another point that the accumulated water on the wall will be left in the gap along the wall, which will not only breed bacteria and mold, but may also lead to water leakage and seepage.
wall pressing floor
As mentioned above, when laying tiles in bathrooms and kitchens, the conventional order of laying tiles is to lay wall tiles first, and then lay floor tiles. Therefore, if we want to achieve wall pressing, then when we paste wall tiles, we will not paste the first row of tiles below, but we will start from the second row. When the floor tiles are pasted, we will then add the first row of tiles.
sounds easy, but it is very complicated to operate, because the bottom of the wall tiles does not have a load bearing, so they are easy to fall off. Moreover, the floor tiles in the bathroom are often made with slopes (convenient to drainage), so the heights of the wall tiles in the first row vary. When we make up for them later, it will be more difficult to cut and lay tiles and the cost will be higher.
However, although the construction of wall-pressed floor is difficult and the construction period is longer, there are still many advantages. First of all, it is obvious that it is beautiful because it does not have a "slit toward the sky". Although there will be gaps between the wall tiles and the floor tiles, this gap is facing the side and we generally cannot see it when we stand.
Secondly, when the wall presses the ground, the water on the wall flows to the floor tiles, which will immediately flow away due to the slope of the bathroom and will not flow into the gap, so there will be no water leakage or dirt like the ground pressing wall.
Why do many people choose to press the ground? In the final analysis, there are two reasons. The first is the advantage of wall pressing the ground, and the second is that people are willing to spend more decoration costs for better decoration effects.
What does the tile worker say?
The tile worker said that the wall pressing of the ground is indeed better than the floor pressing of the ground, but everyone should not be too obsessed with the wall pressing of the ground. There are three reasons:
1. Whether the bathroom leaks and seeps in water often needs to be considered in combination with waterproofing, floor drains and drainage. You cannot simply look at whoever presses the wall tiles and floor tiles. If the bathroom is not waterproofed and the floor slope design is not well designed, even if the wall presses on the ground, there will be a problem of water leakage and seepage.
2. Although the "slit towards the sky" is not beautiful, the bathroom cabinet , toilets, bathroom supplies, etc. in the bathroom will basically block the corners and corners. Moreover, the ceramic tiles in our bathroom often choose to make beautiful joints, so don’t worry too much about being unsightly or tainted.
3. The wall pressing floor, whether it is laying the wall tiles first, then laying the floor tiles, and after the floor tiles are dry, then coming back to lay the first row of wall tiles, or laying the floor tiles first, and laying the wall tiles after the floor tiles are dry, it will take a long construction period and a high decoration cost. Many workers are unwilling to go back and forth.
