Pickerel grass , also known as Haishouhua, is a perennial emergent herbaceous plant of the genus Pickerelgrass in the Argyriaceae family. The underground stems are thick, yellowish-brown, with bud eyes, and the stems and leaves are clustered. The plant height is 80-150cm. The leaves are larger, mostly obovate-lanceolate, about 10-20cm long, dark green, with variable leaf shapes; the petioles are cylindrical, with membranous material cut transversely. The leaves are broadly heart-shaped at the base and tapered at the ends. spikes are terminal, 5-20cm long, with more than 200 florets densely packed, blue-purple with yellow spots, about 10mm in diameter, with 6 perianth lobes, nearly round. The fruit turns brown when mature; the seeds are oval, 1-2mm in diameter. The flowering and fruiting period is from May to October.

is produced in North America. It likes light, a warm and humid climate, likes humidity, is heat-resistant, cold-resistant, and barren-resistant, and does not care about soil. It is suitable for growing in shallow water below 20cm and the suitable temperature is 15℃ to 30℃. Pickerel grass grows quickly, has strong reproductive capacity, and can cover a large area of water in a short time under suitable conditions.

Pike grass has green leaves, quiet flowers and a long flowering period. It is an excellent wetland perennial flower. Plant in shallow water areas of lakes, ponds, and streams for greening, and potted plants can also be used to decorate the courtyard. Planted alternately with Qianqucai , Arundo odorata , water onion , Zailihua , etc. When the flowers bloom, the strings of purple flowers stand out against the green leaves, which is very interesting. It is a promising aquatic ornamental plant.
