In 1937, the Anti-Japanese War broke out in an all-round way. Countless young people full of patriotic enthusiasm devoted themselves to the struggle on the revolutionary front line and wrote a gorgeous chapter of resisting Japan and saving the nation. This year, a 24-year-old young woman came to in northwest Shanxi, joined the Eighth Route Army, and later married the brigade commander of the Eighth Route Army. No one would have thought that half a century later, this woman would become the wife of the vice president of the country. His name was Wang Jiqing, the wife of the former vice president of the country Wang Zhen.

In 1913, Wang Jiqing was born into a merchant family in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. Although his family was well off, Wang Jiqing's father passed away very early. Since then, Wang Jiqing and his mother have been dependent on each other. Under the care of their mother, as the country became increasingly difficult, Wang Jiqing's mother and daughter lived a wandering life.

However, Wang Jiqing has received systematic new education since she was a child. She also knows how to work hard. After graduating from middle school, she was admitted to Peking University with excellent results. You must know that Peking University is definitely at the top of the Beidou in China's education industry. Wang Jiqing was able to get into Peking University at that time. The degree of difficulty can be imagined. It is enough to prove that Wang Jiqing is a very smart and hard-working woman.

At that time, Japan's aggression against China continued to intensify. As a top student at Peking University, Wang Jiqing also joined the propaganda of resisting Japan and saving the nation without hesitation. During this period, he also joined the Communist Party of China and actively participated in various revolutionary works under the leadership of the party.

After the "July 7th Incident", Beiping was occupied by the Japanese army. According to the instructions of the party organization, Wang Jiqing evacuated from Peiping and came to northwest Shanxi to join the 120th Division of the Eighth Route Army. The commander of the 120 Division is Marshal He Long. He Long welcomes outstanding students like Wang Jiqing very much and arranges them to the Ministry of Democracy and Movement to be responsible for troop expansion.

At that time, Wang Jiqing was about to get married, and the leaders of the 120th Division were also very concerned about the marriage issues of older cadres in the division. For example, Wang Zhen, commander of the 359th Brigade, was already in his thirties, but he was still unmarried. So, with the help of He Long and Guan Xiangying, Wang Jiqing and Wang Zhen met. Unexpectedly, the two people fell in love and soon got together and held a wedding.

After Wang Jiqing married Wang Zhen, he came to the 359th Brigade as a cultural instructor. After that, Wang Jiqing and Wang Zhen walked together, witnessed the victory of the Anti-Japanese War and the War of Liberation, and made great contributions to the founding of New China. Wang Jiqing's husband Wang Zhen was also awarded the rank of general and became the founding general of the country.

However, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the road of Wang Zhen and his wife was not smooth . Wang Jiqing devoted himself to the field of education and served as the principal and party secretary of Beijing No. 8 Girls' Middle School.

What is unexpected is that during the expansion of the anti-rightist struggle in 1957, Wang Jiqing was wrongly criticized and ordered to suspend his duties. Five years later, Wang Jiqing was rehabilitated and returned to Beijing No. 8 Girls' Middle School to continue serving as the principal.

During the special period of the following ten years, Wang Jiqing's husband, General Wang Zhen, was also persecuted. However, General Wang Zhen argued hard and fought against Lin Biao, the "Gang of Four" and others. He persisted and was appointed Vice Premier of the State Council in 1975.

In 1976, during the major operation to smash the "Gang of Four", Wang Zhen firmly supported the decisive measures of the Party Central Committee, contributed to saving the party and the country, and ended that catastrophe. Subsequently, Wang Zhen was reused and served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission and the president of the Central Party School. He was re-elected as Vice Premier of the State Council at the first session of the Fifth National People's Congress.

In addition, in 1988, at the first session of the Seventh National People's Congress, Wang Zhen was elected as the vice president of the country. In this way, the 75-year-old Wang Jiqing became the wife of the vice president.. However, Wang Jiqing has always kept a low profile. Even when she became the wife of the vice chairman, she rarely appeared in public. She always supported her husband silently behind the scenes, and she was a good wife.

On December 24, 2007, Wang Jiqing passed away at the People's Liberation Army General Hospital in Beijing at the age of 94. Here, we pay tribute to Wang Jiqing, who made significant contributions to the revolution and the development of education in New China!
