Dapu County is located in the northeast of Guangdong Province, in the middle and upper reaches of Hanjiang , located between 24°01'-24°41' north latitude and 116°18'-116°56' east longitude. It is close to Pinghe County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province and Yongding District, Longyan City, and connected to Raoping County, Chaozhou City in the southeast, Mei County District and Meijiang District in the west, and Fengshun County and Chao'an District in the south. Dapu is known as "three districts and six townships" (three districts: Central Soviet Area, old revolutionary area, remote mountainous area, six townships: culture hometown, hometown of overseas Chinese , world longevity township, Chinese blue and white porcelain township, hometown of famous tea in China , Chinese honey pomelo township). The built-up area of the county town covers an area of 7 square kilometers.
Historical history
Dapu County was established in the ninth year of Yixi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (413 AD). It belonged to Jieyang County during the Qin and Han Dynasties. Yizhao County was established in the ninth year of Yixi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, which belongs to Yi'an County . In the third year of Daye in the Sui Dynasty (607), Yizhao was changed to Wanchuan County. In the fourth year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (621), Wanchuan was abolished and merged into Haiyang County, which belonged to Chaozhou . During the Song, Yuan and early Ming dynasties, it still belonged to Guangde Township, Haiyang County. In the 14th year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1478), the county was established, and the county area belonged to it. In the fifth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1526), the county was established in Raoping County and Lianzhou two capitals, and renamed Dapu County, which belonged to Chaozhou Prefecture. After the liberation in 1949, it belonged to Xingmei District, Eastern Guangdong Administrative Region, and Shantou District. It was affiliated to the Meixian area in 1965 and in 1988, it belonged to the Meizhou City . In the spring of 1961, the county seat moved from Chayang to the foot of Wuhu Mountain in Huliao.
Administrative division
1949 to 1951, the county was divided into 8 districts, 31 townships and 4 towns.
In 1952, Houyun District was divided into Baihou and Shiyun Districts, Gaobi District was divided into Gaobi and Zhourui Districts, and the marijuana area was divided into marijuana and Yinjiang Districts. There were 11 districts in the county.
In January 1957, the county people's committee issued the "Notice on the Abolition of Districts and Townships" and made 24 towns and 2 towns.
In October 1958, the people's commune system was implemented nationwide. All the original towns and towns in Dapu were abolished, and 9 people's communes were established. Together with the four communes that were assigned to Fengshun County, there were 13 people's communes, namely: Pucheng, Sanhe , Dama, Zhourui, Gaopi, Fenglang, Baihou , Huliao , Xihe, Liuhuang, Golden , Dalonghua , and Tanjiang.
In May 1959, two communes, Fucheng Town and Water Transportation, were established, with a total of 15 people's communes in the county.
In January 1961, after the restoration of Fengshun County, Taohuang and four other communes remained under the same jurisdiction. In the same year, the Fucheng Town Commune was abolished and the commune administrative division was adjusted. The 10 communes were adjusted to 21 communes, namely: Pucheng, Xihe, Dama, Gaopi, Fenglang, Gucun, Yanshang, Yinjiang, Taoyuan, Baihou, Changzhi, Yingya, Guye, Zhourui, Guangde, Dadong, Qingxi, Sanhe, Pingyuan, Huliao, and Water Transport Commune. Since then, many institutions have changed. By March 1978, there were 28 communes in the county.
1979, there were 28 communes in the county. In September 1980, three towns, Huliao, Chayang and Gaopi, were restored and established, and the towns were at the same level as the commune. So far, there are 3 towns in the county, including Chayang, Anle, Qingxi, Changzhi, Sanhe, Zili, Yingya, Dama, Gongzhou, Yinjiang, Pingshang, Zhourui, Guye, Sanzhou, Gaobi, Pingyuan, Guangde, Taoyuan, Fenglang, Dapujiao, Shuangxi, Baihou, Dadong, Huliao, Xihe, Dongtang, Yanshang and Hengxi, and 266 production brigades (street offices).
In the winter of 1983, 28 people's communes in the county were abolished, 20 districts were reorganized, and 3 towns were retained as district-level towns.
In the first half of 1985, the districts and towns of Huliao, Chayang and Gaopi were merged and renamed towns, and the county was 3 towns and 17 districts.
On December 30, 1986, the county abolished district offices and established townships and towns, with Villagers' Committee under it. At this time, there were 10 towns, 1 townships, 1 farm and 257 villages (street offices, neighborhood committees) in the county.
In August 1993, 10 townships were abolished and reorganized into 10 towns in the county.
In June 1994, three natural villages, Jinguan, Wenfeng and Hengkengshui, the former Maoshan Management District of Baihou Town, were separated, and the newly established Jinguang Management District was under the jurisdiction of Huliao Town .
In 2000, the county has a total of 20 towns, 1 Fengxi Forest Farm, , with 248 village committees, 9 neighborhood committees, and 4,059 villagers' groups.Changes in the title of the village committee: it was called "production brigade" before 1983; it was renamed "town" in December 1983; it was renamed "village" in December 1986; it was renamed "management area" in December 1988; it was renamed "village committee" in September 1998.
