Zeng Guofan once commented on him, "Runzhi (Hu Linyi) is ten times more talented than me." Hu Linyi, who has "not famous", is one of the key figures that influenced the process of modern Chinese history and is also an outstanding representative of Hunan culture .

Hu's family precepts and rules are spiritual guidance for self-discipline, loyalty, respect, and filial piety and kindness. Hu Linyi's former residence is located in Quanjiaohe Town, Heshan District, Yiyang City. The former residence was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Hu Linyi was born here on the sixth day of the sixth month of the 17th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1812). July 4, 2022, the sixth day of the sixth lunar month, is the 210th anniversary of Hu Linyi's birth. After restoration, the former residence was officially opened to the public and was listed as the Yiyang City Integrity Culture and Education Base.
