The first hydropower station in Sichuan was born in Luzhou . In 1921, Luzhou native Shuixiheng gave up the favorable treatment abroad and returned to his hometown full of enthusiasm for serving the country. He was employed as the construction section chief of the Yin Office of South Sichuan Province.
He and his cousin Peng Yufu (who studied in Japan to study electrical engineering) jointly designed the plan for the Jihe Hydropower Plant and submitted it to the superiors. Old China, which suffered from frequent wars, lacked a stable social environment; there was also a lack of cement and steel bars when building hydropower stations. However, Shuixiheng overcame many obstacles. In the absence of "cement" and steel bars, he used glutinous rice slurry mixed with lime strips instead of reinforced concrete to build a buttress-arch retaining dam. The water sill, workshop and main engine foundation of the power station are all built with stone in mind.
Sichuan Ya'an Datang Hydropower Station
The power station was funded and built in 1921, started construction in 1923, and was completed in February 1925. A 140-kilowatt German Siemens horizontal unit was installed. This was the earliest Jihe Hydropower Station in Sichuan.
Before the founding of New China, the total installed capacity in Sichuan (including Chongqing) was only 0.18 million kilowatts, and the power generation capacity was 19 million kilowatt hours. From 1949 to 1981, the three hydropower stations built in Sichuan during this period were represented by three hydropower stations: Yingxiu Bay, Yuzixi, and
Gongzui Hydropower Station in Leshan, Sichuan. In 1981, the installed hydropower capacity of Sichuan Province was 2.083 million kilowatts, and the annual power generation was 7.661 billion kilowatt hours. In almost the same time as before liberation, the installed hydropower capacity increased by 1,157 times, and the power generation increased by 403 times.
After the reform and opening up, the hydropower bases that have been built or planned to be built in Sichuan include Jinsha River, Yalong River and Dadu River. Taking Jinsha River Hydropower Base as an example, it is planned to build Wudongde Hydropower Station (8.7 million kilowatts), Baihetan Hydropower Station (initially planned installed capacity of 14 million kilowatts), Xiluodu Hydropower Station (13.86 million kilowatts) and Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station (6.4 million kilowatts ) Four world-class giant cascade hydropower stations. These four hydropower stations are developed and managed by China Three Gorges Corporation. The planned total installed capacity is 42.96 million kilowatts, and the annual power generation is 184.3 billion kilowatt hours, a scale equivalent to two Three Gorges Power Station.
