On November 30, 1950, Suzhou area held the public trial of detained counterrevolutionary criminal Hu Zhaohan .
"Bring Hu Zhaohan up!"
As soon as the presiding judge finished speaking, a guy of medium build, with a fleshy face and an upside-down taro face was brought up.
Suddenly, the audience was boiling! The people of Yangcheng Lake who had been bullied and humiliated by Hu Zhaohan for a long time rushed to the stage to complain.
The heartbreaking accusations of blood and tears brought people back to the dark days when jackals were rampant, and seemed to let us see bloody scenes one after another.
Hu Zhaohan is none other than the well-known "Idiot Commander" Hu Chuankui in the "model operas" Shanghai Opera " Ludang Huozhong " and Peking Opera " Shajiabang ".

However, Hu Zhaohan in real life is not a confused "idiot". On the contrary, he is insidious, cunning, cruel, and a murderous devil.
According to incomplete statistics, Hu Zhaohan used various cruel methods to kill 53 Communist military and political personnel, including 1 county magistrate, 2 district leading cadres, 20 district cadres, and 29 soldiers.
He also arbitrarily massacred 156 innocent civilians, including two mass murders, one involving 28 duck farmers in Kunshan and 33 fishermen in Wuxi...
Amid people's angry condemnation, the presiding judge solemnly announced: Hu Zhaohan's crime was extremely heinous. After deliberation, Hu Zhaohan was sentenced to death and executed immediately!
Suddenly, roars of "Repay the blood debt from Hu Zhaohan!" and "Shoot Hu Zhaohan!" roared one after another. However, the former arrogant Hu Zhaohan had already collapsed to the ground and hung his sinful head...
1. Hu Zhaohan was born in 1906 and was originally from Yueyang County, Hunan Province. After graduating from junior high school, he could have found a decent career and spent his life peacefully.
But Hu Zhaohan, who was usually restless, believed that if he wanted to make a name for himself, he had to abandon literature and practice martial arts, so he went to the Yueyang police officer training class.
After graduation, he became a police officer. On the eve of the Anti-Japanese War, Hu Zhaohan, who was in his early 30s, had already become the police chief of Qingpu County, Jiangsu Province (now Shanghai).
In 1938, Hu Zhaohan was forced by the situation of the Anti-Japanese War to find a job as an adjutant in the 6th Detachment of the Cheng Wan Military Department of the Taihu Kuomintang.
"Adjutant, adjutant, eat in circles." Hu Zhaohan is not the kind of person who can endure loneliness, and he always feels empty in his heart.
He pondered that in this troubled autumn, as long as there are guns and people, one can dominate a party, dominate and dominate, and enjoy the popular and drunk. Therefore, he is always spying on the direction, looking for opportunities, and seizing real power.
Hu Zhaohan understood that it was not easy to build a team by himself. So he won over Zeng Wenbiao, Hu Ji, Li Bing and others who came from Taihu , and became sworn brothers with them, often plotting how to seize power.

All of this actually escaped the eyes of He Xiguang, captain of the 6th detachment, and others.
Soon after Hu Zhaohan arrived at the 6th Detachment, the 6th Detachment was transferred from Taihu Lake to Taiping Bridge on the bank of Yangcheng Lake in Wu County.
In order to gain a foothold in Taipingqiao, He Xiguang became sworn brothers with Zhu Kangru, the leader of the local powerful faction. On the other hand, he handed over the anti-theft and self-defense guns of the town's industrial and commercial circles, merged with the Tianjing Town Self-Defense Group, and defeated a miscellaneous armed force in Xiangcheng.
In this way, He Xiguang quickly expanded to a local armed force with more than 200 people, a dozen machine guns, and more than 100 rifles.
After the triumphant He Xiguang opened up the situation in the Yangcheng Lake area, he decided to go into the mountains in person to report the situation to Commander Cheng Wanjun.
Before leaving, He Xiguang announced to the troops that Chief of Staff Chen Weizhi would be in charge of the troops in his absence. He also specifically told Hu Zhaohan to fully assist Chen Weizhi and lead the team well.
Hu Zhaohan nodded in agreement frequently in front of He and Chen. Unexpectedly, as soon as he left, Hu Zhaohan colluded with his group of sworn brothers and kidnapped Chen Weizhi from the business meeting in Xiangcheng Town.

Hu Zhaohan understood that killing Chen Weizhi for no reason would be too explicit, and the soldiers might not be convinced. Moreover, if He Xiguang comes back, his tricks will be exposed. Not only will he not be able to seize power, but he may not even be able to save his life.
In order to deceive the soldiers, the cunning Hu Zhaohan urgently gathered his troops and brought the tied-up Chen Weizhi in front of the soldiers before shooting Chen Weizhi.
"Brothers, He Xiguang and Chen Weizhi want to surrender to the Japanese. He Xiguang has already gone to the Japanese first."
"We are here to fight against the Japanese. Are you willing to surrender to the Japanese?" Hu Zhaohan pretended to be angry and said to the soldiers.
"No! Ten thousand of us are unwilling! We will never surrender to the Japanese!" The soldiers who did not know the truth were incited.
"What should we do?" Seeing that the heat was coming, Hu Zhaohan actually squeezed out a few tears and asked loudly.

"Shoot the surrenderers! Shoot Chen Weizhi!"
The soldiers' shouts allowed Hu Zhaohan to achieve his goal of killing and seizing power. From then on, Hu Zhaohan had great power and became the "Grasshead King" in the Yangcheng Lake area.
2. In order to preserve his strength, Hu Zhaohan joined the anti-Japanese armed forces led by the Communist Party twice, but in the end he openly turned to the diehard Kuomintang Kuomintang diehards
Hu Zhaohan became the "Grasshead King", but he also offended Cheng Wanjun. He understood that if Cheng Wanjun attacked him, he might not be able to withstand it.
Therefore, Hu Zhaohan took advantage of the joint anti-Japanese situation at that time and accepted the reorganization of the Jiangnan Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army Ye Fei Lao 6th Regiment and formed it into the "Independent 1st Detachment of the Jiangnan Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army", with Hu Zhaohan as the commander.
Zhou Mingda, former staff officer of the Jiangnan Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army Headquarters and member of the Communist Party of China, serves as deputy commander. Weng Dimin is the director and secretary-general of the Political Department, and his secret identity is the secretary of the Suzhou County Committee of the Communist Party of China. It was May 1938.

Ye Fei
Hu Zhaohan had no choice but to accept the adaptation. Once the time came, his face of "having both feet in two boats" and waiting for opportunities to fight communism was gradually exposed.
html In September, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China ordered the Jiangnan Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army to reorganize and march westward to open up anti-Japanese base areas in northern Jiangsu. After receiving the order, the 1st detachment was led by Zhou Mingda to Yangzhong County.Hu Zhaohan felt that if he followed the troops to march westward, he would never be able to live a free and easy life again. He wanted to be the "Grass King" in Yangcheng Lake and dominate the area. Someone would have guns, territory, food, clothing, and women. He would never be able to do whatever he wanted in the future...
Thinking of this, Hu Zhaohan decided to ask for leave from Ye Fei, claiming that he would go back to Yangcheng Lake to recuperate. Ye Fei approved his leave, but asked him to return to the team immediately after he recovered.
The next morning, while hiring a boat, Hu Zhaohan incited his guards and others to follow him. Under Hu's instigation, some officers and soldiers who had marched westward fled back to Taipingqiao one after another, including his confidant Qian Chunwu, captain of the 1st Squadron.

Not long after returning to Yangcheng Lake, with the support of local landowner Chen Zhengxue and others, he pulled up an armed force of forty or fifty people and continued to dominate Yangcheng Lake. In October 1939,
1 later, the East Route Army Headquarters of the New Jiangnan Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army was announced, with Xia Guang (the prototype of "Guo Jianguang" in "Shajiabang") as commander, and Yang Haolu as deputy commander and director of the political department.
In order to continue to fight for Hu Zhaohan to resist Japan, his superiors approved the appointment of Hu Zhaohan as deputy commander. To show their sincerity, Xia Guang and Yang Haolu finally waited for Hu Zhaohan in his secret family.
Hu Zhaohan couldn't avoid it, so he had to meet Xia Guang and Yang Haolu. In order to win over him, Xia Guang patiently talked with him in detail and promised that he could still act independently in the Yangcheng Lake area. Only then did Hu Zhaohan become a little tempted.
Early on the second day, Hu Zhaohan took the initiative to find Xia Guang and expressed his willingness to lead his troops to join Jiang Kang's East Route Army again.
In fact, this is just a superficial article. Beginning in June 1940, Hu Zhaohan took the title of the Kuomintang Loyalty and National Salvation Army, openly siding with the Kuomintang die-hards, and sent troops to operate in the Luxiang and Xiaojing areas. During this period, Hu Zhaohan caused many tragedies.

In August 1940, Hu Zhaohan killed Xiaojing traffic officer Shen Juying, undermining the construction of grassroots political power in the Yangcheng Lake area;
In the spring of 1941, Hu Zhaohan openly colluded with the Japanese and puppet troops to steal The attack on the troops stationed in Chuantou Village, Beidu, Xiangcheng, caused heavy losses to the New Fourth Army.
html In the early morning of April 1, Yangcheng County County Magistrate Chen He's troops were suddenly attacked by Japs at Maojiaqiao, Tianjing, and retreated to Caojiajian in the northwest of Xiangcheng. But before they could take a breath, they were attacked again by Hu Zhaohan's troops. Chen He and 10 government cadres were arrested, resulting in heavy casualties among those who broke out;In the same month, Hu Zhaohan publicly killed Qian Liangchen, director of the Xiangcheng office in Taiping Bridge, and dismembered his body in public;
In late May, Hu Zhaohan sent his subordinate Xia Dichu to Wuzhen, Zhejiang, and led a regiment of more than a thousand members of the Guo Motao Department of the Kuomintang's Loyal Salvation Army to conduct a large-scale search for underground members of the Communist Party of China;
html In June, Hu Zhaohan killed the county magistrate Chen He, cut his chest open and dug out his heart in Xiaojiabang, Weitang, and beat Zhang Chenxi, the head of the Xiangcheng Youth Anti-Japanese Salvation Association and a member of the Communist Party of China, to death. Six other Yangcheng County government staff were also brutally murdered in Weitang;
In just a few months, Hu Zhaohan became a murderer known to women and children in the Yangcheng Lake area.
3. Hu Zhaohan is a mother if she has breasts. Due to the situation, she put on the military uniform of the Wang Puppet and became the "simple commander" after many struggles.
At the end of June and beginning of July 1941, during the first period of the Japanese and Puppet "Qingxiang", Hu Zhaohan's motley army had no intention of fighting and collapsed at the first touch.
Wang Puppet 10th Division found out the details of Hu Zhaohan, sent people from Suzhou to find Hu Zhaohan, and asked Hu Zhaohan to surrender to the Japanese army. In order to deceive others and fool his subordinates, Hu Zhaohan said hypocritically to the representative of the 10th Division:
"No, no, I am a dignified Chinese soldier. How can I surrender to the Japanese army? If I want to surrender, I surrender to your 10th Division."
"I didn't expect Commander Hu Zhaohan to be so 'patriotic'." What he said made the representative of the 10th Division burst into laughter.
Sure enough, after the 1st Battalion of the Wang Puppet 10th Division arrived at Taiping Bridge, Hu Zhaohan led his troops to surrender, rushed to Suzhou, and put on the Wang Puppet military uniform.

However, the cunning Hu Zhaohan still had a trick up his sleeve. He had more than 200 men under his command. During the reorganization, he only asked brigade captain Qian Chunwu to lead 100 men and weapons into the 10th Wang Puppet Division. Hu was appointed as the regiment commander, Qian Chunwu was appointed as the company commander, and the rest of the personnel scattered and hid under Hu's arrangement.
After Hu Zhaohan defected to Wang Puppet, life was not easy. In the autumn of 1942, Hu Zhaohan managed to find Leng Xin, the commander-in-chief of the Second Guerrilla Zone of the Third War Zone of the Kuomintang, and expressed his willingness to continue working with the Kuomintang.
In order to win over Hu Zhaohan, Leng Xin appointed him as the major general captain of the second guerrilla zone Beijing-Shanghai line second special agent corps, and his assistant Wang Jiping was the deputy colonel corps.
In late autumn and early winter, Wang and Hu had disagreements. Wang left Hu to find another way out. Hu Zhaohan had no choice but to lead his troops to join Zhang Qian, the leader of Gaochun County.
After Zhang Qian was transferred, Hu Zhaohan had to change his position again and joined Zhang Shaohua's department of the 4th Security Column of the Kuomintang.
Unexpectedly, Hu Zhaohan was transferred to the front by Zhang Shaohua. After a battle, he was defeated by the Japanese army. The remaining men and guns were all taken away by one of his captains and joined the Wang puppet troops.

Just like this, Hu Zhaohan, who was so majestic and arrogant for a while, was so depressed that he only had 4 guards left!
What is even more tragic is that the four guards took advantage of Zhang Zhu's fall and took refuge in the Wang Puppet Secret Service Station.
In this way, the embarrassed "grass-headed king" Hu Zhaohan became an out-and-out "polished commander." Helpless, he ran to the Meishan area in western Zhejiang and lived a wandering life.
This life of wandering without guns and teams was like a year for Hu Zhaohan.
After digging around, in the spring of 1944, he finally obtained dozens of guns from Xu Baoguang, commissioner of the Kuomintang's Second War Zone, and Chang'an Weinan, Changshu County County.
Hu Zhaohan immediately recruited a group of people from Yixing , accepted the appointment of Wu Shaoshu, director of the Shanghai branch of the Communist Youth League, and served as the commander of the Beijing-Shanghai action column of the Shanghai branch of the Communist Youth League. He once again drove the team into the Yangcheng Lake area.

The first thing Hu Zhaohan did when he came back was to use extremely cruel means to create the appalling Yanggou Lou massacre.
At around 3 pm on April 17, 1944, Hu Zhaohan’s henchman Kang Jinrong discovered 12 fishing boats driven by fishermen from Chengkou, Wuxi River under the shade of lotus trees in Yangcheng Lake. The cabins were filled with white rice.
Kang Jinrong suddenly became jealous and itchy, and forced the fishermen to move the boat to Yanggou Lou. Hu Zhaohan felt very unhappy when he heard Kang Jinrong's report. He knew clearly that these fishermen secretly trafficked rice purely to make money to support their families, but he insisted:
"Where did you get so much rice? It was obviously stolen. You are a group of bandits!"
"We are rice traders! We are not bandits!" The fishermen argued together.
When Hu Zhaohan saw this, he actually acted like a gentleman: "Fishermen, you don't have to worry, let God decide whether you are bandits or not!"

After that, Hu Zhaohan ordered his subordinates to set up the incense table in public, "devoutly" Burning incense and praying to the sky:
"I want to kill five people first. If there are clouds in the sky tomorrow, it means they were wronged. If the weather is clear, then they should be killed. Please God, please show me, and I, Hu, will do what God wants."
On the morning of the second day, the sun was high in the sky, and there was no trace of clouds. Hu Zhaohan sent people to dig a human burial pit at Xiaoniang's grave in Guanjing, marched the fishermen to the edge of the pit, smashed them with rifle butts, stabbed them with bayonets, and buried them alive. In this way, 33 innocent fishermen died!
During the eight years of the Anti-Japanese War, Hu Zhaohan wrote a history of being a traitor and bandit that was criticized by thousands of people and reviled by tens of thousands of people. It was already notorious in the Yangcheng Lake area.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Hu Zhaohan not only did not receive the punishment he deserved, but he also thought that he had "made meritorious service in resisting Japan" and led his troops to camp outside Loumen, Suzhou.
Sun Tianfang, the commander of the Kuomintang Suzhou Garrison Command, couldn't help but order the weapons of Hu Zhaohan and all his men to be handed over, and detained Hu to the headquarters. Hu was held in the headquarters for three days and was finally released through connections.

Hu Zhaohan saw that he was too much for this unknown armed force, so he had to return to Qingpu County as the police captain.
Hu Zhaohan took office, which meant that Qingpu County had another vicious wolfdog . In November 1946, he single-handedly caused the Qingpu Huacaofuli Bridge Massacre.
A rifle belonging to Zhang Xingyuan, an underground member of the Chinese Communist Party, was accidentally stolen from his home by a thief. The thief took the gun to rob someone on the road and was caught by the police team, who revealed the source of the gun.
Hu Zhaohan immediately took people to Zhang Xingyuan's house to search. As a result, the two special commissioners could not escape and were also arrested by Hu Zhaohan. The list of underground party members in Qingdong District hidden in the possession of one special commissioner was discovered. The
party organization was exposed, and almost everyone from the district committee members to grassroots cadres were arrested by Hu Zhaohan.
The frenzied Hu Zhaohan killed commissioner Shen Pingxin, district committee member Lu Deliang and others. A branch secretary surnamed Shen refused to give in under Hu Zhaohan's threats and torture, and shouted "Long live the Communist Party."

Hu Zhaohan was furious and ordered the thugs to hammer Shen's limbs with iron nails, hoping to use this cruel and dehumanizing method to force the secretary to betray the Communist Party.
Unexpectedly, Secretary Shen, who passed out several times, still shouted slogans when he woke up. He died heroically until nails were driven into his throat.
Under Hu Zhaohan's crazy suppression, the Qingpu Northwest Guerrilla West Zone Squadron and the Puxi Guerrilla of the Communist Party suffered heavy losses one after another. The squadron leader Jiang Asan was shot dead. Another special commissioner escaped from Hu Zhaohan's clutches after organizing various rescues.
In April 1947, Hu Zhaohan was appointed as the head of Yangcheng District of Wuxian County and the director of the Joint Defense and Suppression Headquarters Office of Su, Kun and Yu counties due to his meritorious service in "suppressing the Communists".
Hu Zhaohan, who returned to Yangcheng Lake, was now more emboldened and intensified his bloody suppression of underground members of the Communist Party.
In September 1947, the underground party prepared to hold an underground work meeting in Wu, Kun and Yu counties in Zhaotanping.

After receiving this information, Hu Zhaohan immediately led his security team, together with the security teams from Xiangcheng, Luxiang, Taiping, Tianjing, Changshu, Tangshi, Kunshan Bacheng and other places, to pull a net and rush towards Zhaotanping in an attempt to capture underground party members in one fell swoop.
Due to the resourcefulness and flexibility of the traffic officers, the alarm was issued in time. Under the cover of the local people, all participants evacuated safely, avoiding a major loss.
4. The People's Liberation Army successfully crossed the river, and Hu Zhaohan fled in fear of crime, but his "remaining power" still remains. The Wuxian County Party Committee in Suzhou was determined to eradicate this evil as soon as possible
It was really thirty years in Hedong and forty years in Hexi. Hu Zhaohan originally thought that with the "backstage boss" Kuomintang as "backing", he could be high-spirited and worry-free and do whatever he wanted. But he never dreamed that his "backstage boss" would also fall.
After the three major battles of Liaoshen, Pingjin, and Huaihai, the Chinese People's Liberation Army achieved decisive victory in the War of Liberation. The demise of the Kuomintang was inevitable.
On April 21, 1949, Chairman Mao Zedong and Commander-in-Chief Zhu De issued the order to march across the country. The People's Liberation Army broke through the Yangtze River natural chasm and held the most majestic march in Chinese history.

Millions of troops crossed the river
html On April 23, Nanjing was liberated, announcing the end of the Kuomintang's 22-year rule. Then, the People's Liberation Army successively liberated Wuxi and Suzhou.Hu Zhaohan, who was in panic all day long, saw that the situation was over and had to hide in Shanghai. But Shanghai was not a safe haven. On May 12, the Chinese People's Liberation Army launched the Shanghai Campaign, and Shanghai was liberated on the 27th. Hu Zhaohan has disappeared since then.
Although Hu Zhaohan has left Yangcheng Lake, his "remaining power" is still there.
In the autumn of 1949, Yangcheng Lake suddenly encountered a flood. Farmers' lives were difficult, factories closed down, unemployment increased, and the masses' mood fluctuated. The lurking remnant bandits saw an opportunity and were ready to take action.
After some conspiracy and planning, the gangsters decided to take advantage of the masses' lack of understanding of the Communist Party and the People's Liberation Army and their fear of Hu Zhaohan. They first spread rumors to confuse the public, and then created several "impactful" incidents to disrupt public order and interfere with the army's march south.
The gangsters first spread: "Old Chiang (referring to Chiang Kai-shek ) will come back to eat moon cakes in August and a half", and then started to take action.

In Yangcheng Lake in the late 1940s
Hu Zhaohan's orderly Tang Bin committed the first murder. He brutally shot and killed Assistant Chen of Yangcheng District.
Then, the gangsters intimidated the masses, blackmailed the trading companies, and committed a series of murders, the largest of which was the "head murder case" at the "Dingfeng Grain Store" on Loumen Street in Suzhou.
The gangsters first operated in the Yangcheng Lake area, and then caused trouble in Suzhou City. For a while, the city was filled with uproar and people were in panic.
The gangsters came in groups of three or five. When they arrived at a trading house, they all said that "the boss (the gangster's code for Hu bandit ) sent us here", taking advantage of the masses' fear of this "murderer" to carry out counter-revolutionary activities.
To catch a thief, capture the king first; to cut the grass, you must remove the roots. To eliminate banditry, we must first capture Hu Zhaohan. The Wuxian County Party Committee was determined to capture the devil Hu Zhaohan in order to stabilize people's hearts and consolidate the new people's power.
5. Director Bao Zhenjia of the Xiangcheng Public Security Bureau of Wuxian County followed the clues and found a foothold of Hu Zhaohan in Shanghai Pudong
The Wuxian County Party Committee handed over the task of hosting Hu's case to the Xiangcheng Public Security Bureau.

There were only six or seven police officers in the Xiangcheng Public Security Bureau at that time, and the branch chief was named Bao Zhenjia. Director Bao was extremely confident after accepting the task. As soon as there were clues, he immediately led the police officers to seize them.
They forgot to eat and sleep and fought continuously. Since September 1949, they have solved dozens of armed bandit cases and investigated dozens of Hu bandit contact points in Jiangsu, Shanghai and other places, but they have still not found any clues about the Hu bandits.
Just when Bao Zhen's family felt that they had no idea what to do, just after the Spring Festival in 1950, the former mayor of Xiangcheng Town during the Kuomintang regime suddenly came to Taipingqiao and reported to the Public Security Bureau that Shi Yunquan was willing to negotiate with the government. This is really great news for the Bao Zhen family.
Who is Shi Yunquan? It turned out that he was Hu Zhaohan's first captain and godson. After liberation, he did not abscond, but lived in hiding near his hometown of Xiangcheng Town, often hiding near a cemetery not far south of the town.
He has weapons in his hands and his marksmanship is accurate. The tomb is densely covered with pines and cypresses, making it difficult to approach. Because he was no longer active, Bao Zhen's family decided not to touch him for the time being, and sent a message through the old mayor that as long as he came out to meet and handed over his guns and ammunition, he could forget the past.

Bao Zhenjia thought that since Shi Yunquan was willing to negotiate, maybe he could get some information from him, which would lead to a breakthrough in the Hu case. So the Bao Zhen family immediately agreed and decided to go alone according to the conditions proposed by Shi Yunquan.
After the old mayor left, the Bao Zhen family immediately called their superiors for instructions on the matter. Deputy Director Heng of the Wuxian County Public Security Bureau was afraid of an accident, so he immediately sent Chief Zhang of the reconnaissance unit and a team of more than 10 people to rush to Xiangcheng.
Director Bao is famous for his talent and boldness, but at this moment, he can't care about his personal safety. He came to Xiangcheng at the appointed time, and accompanied by the old mayor, went to the courtyard where Shi Yunquan lived at the appointed place at the top of the town.
Bao Zhen's family saw that Shi Yunquan's courtyard was surrounded by a high wall, and there was a barbed wire on the wall.
The houses within the wall are tall and large. Although darkness has not yet come at this time, the atmosphere is gloomy and the wind is biting. Bao Zhen's family couldn't care about this and resolutely followed the mayor and pushed in the door.
As soon as he entered the door, Shi Yunquan was already standing in the patio of the second door to greet him. Shi is tall, fair-skinned, calm, and quite impressive.

He slightly showed his two big gold teeth, put on a smile, and said politely: "I heard Director Bao's name earlier. It's a great honor to meet you today. Please come in!" When Bao Zhenjia saw that he was alone, he nodded briefly and followed Shi into the living room.
There was no one in the hall, only simple tables and chairs. Shi Yunquan asked the Bao Zhen family to sit down, and the Bao Zhen family were not polite. They sat facing south, so that they could have their backs against the wall and see the patio, making it easier to deal with anything if anything happened.
said that he was a government representative, and he had to overwhelm the opponent in terms of momentum.
Shi also knew the truth and sat down on the main seat below to accompany him. He acted cautiously and did not move arbitrarily. The old mayor sat down and made an introduction.
Bao immediately explained the party's policy to Shi: "We will only capture Hu Zhaohan." Shi nodded repeatedly, expressing his willingness to move closer to the government and make atonement for his crimes.
When it came to confiscating the guns, Shi agreed. However, when he inquired about the whereabouts of the bandit, Shi shook his head repeatedly and said:

"I really don't know. Anyway, everyone in this area knows that I, Shi Yunquan, am liberating I quit my job a few months ago. It's embarrassing to say that, because of a woman, I had a falling out with him!" Seeing that he was categorical, Director Bao guessed that he was telling the truth, so he asked some more about Hu Zhaohan. Shi Yunquan mentioned that Hu Zhaohan had a little wife living in Yangcheng Village.
Before leaving, Bao Zhenjia gave Shi Yunquan a few words of advice and comfort, asking him to reshape himself and start a new life, and Shi repeatedly agreed. As soon as I went out, I happened to meet Chief Zhang of the County Public Security Bureau and others. Chief Zhang was overjoyed when he saw Director Bao coming out with a smile on his face.
After studying it, Director Bao and Chief Zhang decided that it was not too late and decided to operate overnight, directly entering Yangcheng Village, and leaving scout Sun Ruhai (from the Lubei guerrillas) who was familiar with the bandits to assist in the battle.
That night, six or seven people, including Bao and Sun, mobilized a shed boat on the spot. Under the cover of the vast night, they crossed the vast Yangcheng Zhong Lake and quietly entered Yangcheng Village.
found the home of the security chief under the old regime. Sun Ruhai knocked on the door with a coded signal at gunpoint, and sure enough, a glimmer of light flashed through the crack of the door.

"Who is it?" A woman's voice.
"It's Lao Hu..., open the door quickly!" Sun Ruhai imitated Hu Zhaohan's Hunan accent and responded vaguely.
The little wife was in a daze, unable to distinguish the authenticity, when she heard the door creak open.
"Don't make any noise!" Director Bao saw her sticking her head out and quickly pointed his gun at her. Without any explanation, he dragged her out of the village, put her on the boat, and quickly sailed the boat to the center of the lake.
The bright moon is in the sky and the weather is calm. Director Bao simply parked the boat in the middle of the lake and started the trial. Unexpectedly, the little wife was born in a rural area and had not seen much of the world. Her actions tonight were so sudden that she was so frightened that she could not speak.
Seeing this, Bao Zhenjia changed her appearance to persuade her. After a while, she finally stammered and spoke.
She insisted that the bandits had never been here since they sent her to hide here 10 months ago.

Bao Zhenjia asked Hu Zhaohan where he had been. She said that she and Hu Zhaohan had been to Pudong, Shanghai, where there was a cloth shop owner who was very familiar with Hu Zhaohan.
On the second day, Director Bao took two assistants and Hu Zhaohan’s little wife to live in Shanghai.
In order to avoid being recognized by acquaintances and causing trouble, Bao Zhen's family dressed up as the gangster " running single gang ", and the little wife also changed her appearance.
In order to prevent her from leaking information in code words, Bao Zhen's family stipulated that she was not allowed to speak to anyone without his own nod.
The little wife took Bao Zhen's family to the cloth shop. The owner's surname was Wang, who was from Hunan. After Director Bao repeatedly worked and explained the policy, Wang finally gave up his worries and revealed the whereabouts of the bandit.
After Bao Zhenjia found out Hu Zhaohan's whereabouts in Shanghai, he returned to Wuxian and waited for a letter from Shanghai.
In February 1950, the Xiangcheng Public Security Bureau received a long-distance call from Boss Wang of Shanghai: "The guest is here."

According to the agreed code words, Director Bao knew that the murderous demon king he had been chasing for half a year was really going to surrender. He was so excited that he could no longer stay still.
So he immediately took two assistants and hired a boat to rush to Suzhou overnight. Even the county public security bureau had no time to report, so he jumped on the midnight train and rushed to Pudong, Shanghai at dawn.
After arriving at Wang's house, Boss Wang hurriedly took out the express letter sent by Hu Zhaohan from Hong Kong. He saw a few lines written crookedly on the letterhead:
Brother Wang, I have arrived in Hong Kong safely. Don't miss it. I was warmly received in Shanghai. My brother is very grateful and will always remember it in my heart. I'm currently accepting business. After I receive it, I will definitely return to Shanghai to thank you. The word brother.
Director Bao knew that "taking over business" was the code word for "taking over relations" with the Kuomintang spies. Based on the lack of a mailing address and the fact that the envelope and letterhead were all purchased from a store, it can be inferred that the Hu bandit had not yet contacted the Hong Kong bandits at this time.
But Hu Bandit has always been cunning and cunning. Maybe he is deliberately playing tricks, and maybe he will suddenly return to Shanghai in the next day or two. The Bao Zhen family decided to stay in Pudong first and "wait and wait".

The Bao Zhen family wanted to contact the Pudong Public Security Bureau, but then they remembered that they were in such a hurry that they had even forgotten to bring a letter of introduction, so they could only stay in a nearby small hotel and then write a quick letter back to the Xiangcheng Bureau.
During this time, Bao Zhenjia and other three people took turns to monitor the area near Wang's house and pay close attention to suspicious situations.
Three days later, Bao Zhen’s family received the letter of introduction and excitedly ran to the Pudong Public Security Bureau to contact them.
Who knows that Shanghai is very strict about rules and regulations. They insist on having a letter of introduction from the district police bureau before they can handle such cases. This is like a bucket of cold water.
Bao Zhen's family had no choice but to return to Suzhou overnight, planning to report the situation to the County Public Security Bureau.
6. Section Chief Jiang Hua of the Reconnaissance Section of the Southern Jiangsu Public Security Department personally took charge. Hu Zhaohan sneaked back to Shanghai, but he didn't expect that the public security officers had already laid a dragnet.
It just happened that Bao Zhenjia and the others had just arrived in Suzhou and happened to meet Director Huang Chibo of the Southern Jiangsu Public Security Department and Section Chief Jiang Hua of the Reconnaissance Section. It turned out that they had also come to hunt Hu Zhaohan.

Huang Chibo
Director Huang Chibo called everyone together and introduced to everyone: "Hu Zhaohan's influence has been too great. The Public Security Department has decided to escalate the case. The Southern Jiangsu Public Security Department will directly arrest the case, and the original team of the Xiangcheng Public Security Bureau will cooperate with the action."
After finishing speaking, he asked Director Bao to introduce the progress of the case and Hu Zhaohan's characteristics.
Bao Zhenjia introduced to everyone: "Although I have never met Hu Zhaohan, I can say that I am relatively familiar with him. We have his photos here, and we have not studied him once or twice. I can think about it whenever I have free time.""
" We also asked the public about his figure, walking posture, etc. His most obvious feature is the fine white pockmarks on his face, which are easily identifiable. Therefore, as soon as the gangster shows up, I guarantee that I can catch him from the crowd. "
Director Huang then asked: "What are the rules of Hu Zhaohan's activities? "At this time, Director Bao couldn't remember it for a moment and was stunned. He only spent his energy on Hu Zhaohan's appearance and characteristics, and did not think of asking him to summarize any activity patterns.
Huang Chibo saw that Bao Zhenjia couldn't explain it for a while, so he introduced to everyone:

"Hu Zhaohan's activity patterns can be summarized in three points. First, he was familiar with every port in Yangcheng Lake. He even slept in the boat and could tell where he was just by the sound of oars and water. "
" Secondly, he is extravagant and promiscuous and picks up women everywhere; thirdly, he likes to do activities at night, taking only a few people with him on a covered boat and going out mysteriously. "
Huang Chibo continued: "The characteristics of the current activities of the Southern Jiangsu special agents are that they are single-line and grouped. This kind of harassment has a large area and is unpredictable. This makes it difficult for us to deal with it. The case is solved but the root cause cannot be grasped. "
Everyone was very impressed after hearing this. It turned out that Director Huang had already gone to the Taipingqiao area to conduct a secret investigation.
Subsequently, Director Huang convened the relevant leaders of the region and Suzhou City to make arrangements specifically for the investigation of the Hu bandits. Bao Zhenjia and other county bureau personnel went to Shanghai first as an advance team.
Bao Zhenjia and Wu Tong Holding the letter of introduction from the Su Di Public Security Bureau, they all waited for Boss Wang to send the message.

A few days later, Boss Wang sent someone to deliver a note that said: "The boss will be here soon." Everyone was as excited as the hunters who had been waiting for several days when they heard the sound of wild beasts. That is, emergency consultations and preparations for war.
Suddenly, a man with a suitcase, wearing a felt hat, sunglasses and a woolen coat walked in outside the door. He smiled at everyone and sat down to listen to Bao Zhenjia's introduction to the situation.
Everyone thought he was an old person like the "Bao Wenqiao" who was originally sent to Shanghai, so they didn't ask any more questions.
After that person interrupted, everyone realized that he was the protagonist Jiang Hua they had been looking forward to day and night. They were really happy and ashamed. I am happy that he finally arrived at the critical moment, but I am ashamed that everyone, who is an "old police officer", was deceived by his superb disguise skills.
Another day later, Boss Wang hurriedly ran over and reported in person: "Hu Zhaohan sent someone and told me that Hu Zhaohan would be arriving in Shanghai the day after tomorrow and asked me to be prepared. "
" I came here because I recommended that I go to the city to purchase goods and take a shortcut. I can’t come here anymore, so I have to hand in notes if I need anything. "After saying that, Boss Wang left in a hurry.

After Boss Wang left, Jiang Hua immediately called everyone to a meeting to divide the work.
It was getting dark. Everyone was waiting anxiously for Boss Wang's message.
Suddenly, the boss's wife came in a hurry and hurried over. When she saw Jiang Hua and the others, she stammered: "They are here... 28 of them, and they are all meeting... upstairs. "
" I said...the cloth shop is out of stock, so I have to borrow...cloth from the little sisters...before...I can...go out alone! "After
finished speaking, she stamped her feet anxiously and urged Jiang Hua and the others to go quickly: "We are late. If we run away after the meeting, it will be difficult to find him! "
This was completely unexpected by Jiang Hua and the others. Hu Zhaohan's old rule is that he usually takes no more than three followers when he goes out, and the entire action plan was arranged according to this estimate.
Now that so many gangsters suddenly came, they were really caught off guard. Everyone was happy and felt troubled. The good news is that he can take care of his old lair and catch more gangsters;

The tricky thing is that the strength of the first echelon is obviously insufficient, but if there are more people going up the stairs, it will inevitably alert the gangsters, and it is difficult to expand the fighting strength indoors.
Everyone discussed and analyzed the pros and cons, and finally decided to act according to the original plan. The sharp knife team was still composed of Jiang Hua, Bao Zhenhua, and Wu Tongfa.
Jiang Hua suddenly asked Bao Zhenjia in public: "Do you dare? "Jiang Hua's meaning is very obvious, that is, if you, the Bao Zhen family, have concerns, you can still replace them now.
Bao Zhenjia is a famous lone hero and "old policeman". He has used boxing sticks since elementary school, and later went through many trainings. Seeing that the prey he has been waiting for for half a year has reached his mouth, he is not willing to give in.
"Dare, dare!" Bao Zhenjia said firmly.
Then, as if he was afraid of being taken away from him, he said: "I have three advantages. First, I don't have a wife yet, and I have no worries. If I have any problems, please organize the organization to take care of my parents' lives. My parents are in my hometown of Haimen."

"Second, I am familiar with Hu Zhaohan's face and height, and I can't mistake him. Third, I have received special training in Nanjing, and I have a good set of marksmanship and boxing."
"Well, it's up to you." Jiang Hua had been staring at Bao Zhen's house. When he heard this, a smile appeared on his face and he nodded slightly.
Next, study the tactics of engaging the enemy. Bao Zhenjia spoke first: "I think that after we break into the bandits, we should take advantage of the stunned state of the bandits to quickly seize the corner, use two guns to force the bandits to raise their hands and surrender."
"Or I can take advantage of the chaos to get under the table so that the bandits cannot use their firepower. I will fire a gun under the table, shoot at the enemy's feet, disrupt the enemy's formation, and create a pincer attack from inside and outside."
After hearing this, everyone praised the clever idea.
7. The sharp knife team penetrated into the bandit's den. Hu Zhaohan, who was arrogant for a while, saw that the end was coming, and suddenly changed from a murderous devil to a mouse under the cat's claws

It was already dark, there were fewer people on the road, and most of the shops were closed. I saw three people who looked like rickshaw pullers hurriedly on their way. After a while, they arrived at the entrance. These three people are none other than Jiang Hua and the others.
They stopped the car and looked up, only to see that the windows of the cloth store building were closed, the curtains were drooped, and the first floor was extremely silent. Only a few lights came from the curtains in the second-floor windows, and the atmosphere seemed scary and mysterious.
Jiang Hua and the others touched the pistols and followed the proprietress as they approached the door. Jiang Hua motioned to the landlady to unlock the door. As soon as the key was inserted into the lock and before it was turned, a low voice was heard from inside the door.
"Who is it?"
"It's me, I'm back to pick up the goods!" the landlady replied calmly.
As soon as the door was opened just a crack, the three men ducked in, held the sentry down with their guns, and took off his weapons without saying a word.

Jiang Hua scanned the surroundings and found no culprits. The light in the room was very dark, only a light bulb at the top of the stairs gave off a faint light. Looking at the stairs from below, it was empty and no gangsters were found. It seems that the gangster is paralyzed.
Jiang Hua was just thinking about how to go upstairs when he suddenly found a briquette stove at the corner of the stairs that was spitting out a circle of blue light. The lid of the steel kettle on the stove made a "chichi" sound due to the impact of water vapor.
With a clever move, he picked up the gun in his right hand, picked up the kettle with his left hand, and stepped up the stairs quietly.
"Who is going upstairs?" The gangster seemed to hear the footsteps and asked in a low voice.
"It's me," the landlady responded calmly downstairs, and then there was no sound from upstairs.
Jiang Hua and the others climbed to the second floor, but the gangsters were completely unaware. At this time, Boss Wang came over and pointed to the room where the gangsters were meeting. Jiang Hua and the others quickly moved closer and listened carefully, only to realize that the gangsters were concentrating on the meeting at this time.

When death is imminent, these gangsters are still arguing about "official titles".
Jiang Hua immediately pointed at the door with the muzzle of his gun. Director Bao understood, quickly approached the door, raised his legs, aimed at the keyhole, used all his strength, and with a "gnaw" sound, the door opened wide.
The room was brightly lit, and the gangsters were seen sitting around a conference table made of three large square tables. The room was crowded in darkness. The original plan of breaking into the gang was difficult to achieve.
Jiang Hua and Bao Zhen's family made a quick decision. At the moment when the gangsters were shocked by the sudden attack, six short guns were pointed at the group of gangsters, shouting: "Don't move!"
But there was a burly guy trying to reach for a gun. When Jiang Hua saw it, he immediately pulled the trigger and fired a shot at the ceiling with the speed machine. With a "bang" sound, the gunshot seemed particularly powerful.

"Whoever takes action will be beaten to death!" Jiang Hua ordered.
The gangsters were so frightened that they didn't even dare to breathe. Bao Zhenjia's hands and feet were also quick and he knocked the guy who wanted to attack to the ground.
Later I learned that this person was Wang Qun, the head of Songnan District, Wu County, Kuomintang, another bandit leader who absconded at the same time as the Hu bandit. I didn't expect him to be in there tonight, what a surprise.
The second and third echelons heard the gunshots and knew that Jiang Hua and the others had succeeded. "Old police officers" all know that one shot means "successful", and two shots means "fire" has been received.
The trapped beast still fights. Suddenly, a desperate gangster suddenly stepped onto the table, jumped up, and smashed the light bulb on the ceiling with his head. The room suddenly became dark, and the gangsters obviously won the chance to fight to the death.
At this critical moment, two bright beams of light shot in. It turned out that the second echelon had arrived. Jiang Hua, Bao Zhenjia, and Wu Tongfa shouted in unison: "Whoever takes action will be beaten to death!" The gangsters were frightened again.

Seeing that the situation was over, the gangsters raised their hands one by one, filed out of the room, were handcuffed and escorted downstairs.
In order to wipe out the remaining bandits in one fell swoop, Jiang Hua and Bao Zhenjia decided to immediately open a trial for the Hu bandits.
People in the Yangcheng Lake area have a proverb, "We are not afraid of Hu Zhaohan jumping, we are only afraid of Hu Zhaohan laughing." It means that Hu Zhaohan never blinks an eye when killing people and treats human life as nothing.
But at this moment, his face was pale, his whole body was shaking, and he could not speak a word. He just kept calling "Sir, Sir" and repeatedly begged to "save the lives of his wife and only son." The former murderer is now a prisoner.
According to Hu Zhaohan's confession, after the liberation of Shanghai, he had to flee to Guangzhou, and then to Hong Kong and Taiwan. Due to unfamiliarity with the personnel, Hu Zhaohan failed to contact the police and special agencies.
In March 1950, Hu Zhaohan had no choice but to move to Zhoushan and find Ding Zhipan, Chairman of the Jiangsu Province of the Kuomintang. Only then did he get in touch and was appointed deputy commander and administrative member of the Second Column of the Anti-Communist Self-Defense and National Salvation Army of the Second Administrative Office of Jiangsu Province.

Hu Zhaohan
At first, he tried to take his assistant Wang Qun and another gang of gangsters to land along the coast of Ningbo. However, due to the tight security of the People's Liberation Army, he failed and had to enter from Hong Kong.
Originally, he planned to go to Shanghai first, and then sneak back to Yangcheng Lake to collect old troops, intending to use Dianshan, Yangcheng, and Taihu as bases to carry out counterrevolutionary armed sabotage activities and establish underground puppet regimes in districts, townships, and towns.
Unexpectedly, before he could stand firmly, he got into the pocket laid by the public security officer.
