81, Emperor Wen of Sui Yang Jian established Sui Dynasty , and China realized the unified . In the same year, the eldest son of the legitimate Yang Yong was made the crown prince.
htmlIn October 1600, Emperor Wen of Sui deposed the crown prince Yang Yong. In November, the second son, , Yang Guang, was appointed as the crown prince.
Why did Yang Yong, who has been the prince for nearly 20 years, be ruined by Yang Jian?

You should know that at the beginning of the founding of the Sui Dynasty, Yang Yong was a very capable young man. He wrote letters and suggestions many times, criticized current problems, and put forward many good suggestions for governing the country, which were adopted by Yang Jian every time. Not only did Emperor Wen of Sui like Yang Yong very much, but his mother, who spoke in one word, also valued Yang Yong very much.
However, Yang Yong was free and unruly by nature, willful and indulgent, and did not know how to restrain himself. Especially the several things that happened during this period made Emperor Wen of Sui and Empress Dugu very angry, causing him to lose favor step by step.
The first thing to do is "Wenjie Shu Kai".
Yang Yong put the exquisite and gorgeous armor made in Shu, and then put it on his body and show off in the court. After seeing this, Emperor Wen of Sui was very dissatisfied and severely criticized him:
"Since ancient times, no luxurious emperor has ever been able to last forever. As a leader, you should take saving as your first priority so that you can sacrifice to the royal ancestral temple. Each of the clothes I have worn in the past is left, so that you can take them out and take them out to save yourself from the reduction. At the same time, you will be given a sword that I used before, and you should understand my good intentions."
This rebuke by Emperor Wen of Sui makes sense and is considered from the perspective of protecting the country and society. But Yang Yong did not seem to feel that he was doing something wrong and turned a deaf ear to his father's teachings.
The second thing is "Zhang Leshou Congratulations".
One year, all civil and military officials went to Jin to meet Yang Yong. Yang Yong was in the East Palace Dachen Band and publicly accepted the congratulations from all officials. Emperor Wen of Sui became even more angry when he found out. He asked civil and military officials that all the officials of the dynasty went to see the crown prince. What kind of etiquette is this?
taichang Shaoqing Xin Tan replied that all officials went to East Palace belonged to a gift, and could not be said to be a court visit.
Emperor Wen of Sui was very dissatisfied with this explanation and said this:
"The festival is changed and the number of people can go to each other. Why is there a corps to summon people? The prince's clothes are fun to wait for him? The East Palace is like this, and it is a special system of etiquette." ("Book of Sui·Biography of the Four Sons of Wen")
The implication of this sentence is: Since it is a congratulation, the number of people should be reduced, and only three or five or dozens of people should be enough. Why should the relevant departments be convened? For a time, all officials gathered together. Why did the prince still wear a dress and play music to receive the officials?
Emperor Wen of Sui was severe in his reprimand. He immediately issued an edict:
"There are differences in etiquette, and the king and minister are not mixed. Since modern times, the holy teachings have gradually become deteriorated, and they have followed the customs. Although the crown prince is the heir of the superiors, he is also a minister, and the ministers of the various courtesy congratulations in winter, he appointed the local tribute, and left the Eastern Palace. The rules of the law should be stopped all" (Book of the Emperor: Biography of the Four Sons of Wen".
The meaning of this edict is: etiquette should have hierarchical differences, so that the king and the subject will not be confused. Although the crown prince is the heir of the emperor, he is still both a subject and a son in the great sense. The civil and military officials in various places also pay tribute to the crown prince, which does not comply with the rules and regulations of , and should be stopped immediately.
From this point of view, this kind of resistance is Involving the status of the monarch, minister, father and son, the conflict between Emperor Wen of Sui and Yang Yong further deepened.

The third thing is "the demise of the Yuan family".
High School of Dugu married the Yuan family, the daughter of the military general Yuan Xiaoju , and wanted the Yuan family to assist Yang Yong in the future. Unexpectedly, Yang Yong disliked the Yuan family in various ways, and even openly disliked her. What made Yuan's family even more disappointed was that Yang Yong collected a large number of stunning women from all over the country, drank and had fun with them every day, and let Yuan's family stay alone in the empty room.
In less than a month, the depressed Yuan suddenly died.
This incident made Queen Dugu extremely disappointed with Yang Yong and scolded Yang Yong as a ruthless man. You should know that Queen Dugu is a jealous woman. The man she cannot tolerate the most is not good to her wife and pamperes her concubine. These three things directly led to Emperor Wen of Sui becoming increasingly suspicious of Prince Yang Yong, and Empress Dugu gradually became disgusted with Yang Yong.
At the same time, Jin Wang Yang Guang secretly observed all Yang Yong's behavior and regarded his elder brother as a negative teaching material. He "mother pretending and deliberately disguised himself to win the favor of his father and mother.
The first "pretentious" is to pretend. He was very frugal and not close to women.
Yang Guang knew that his father, Emperor Wen of Sui, was not luxurious, so he arranged his Jin Palace very simple. Emperor Wen of Sui and Empress Dugu went to the Jin Palace, and Yang Guang sent all the beautiful girls to other places to hide, leaving only the elderly and ugly maids as servants. He and his wife Concubine Xiao wore clothes without embroidery, and instead used plain silk on the bed tent Yang Guang also removed all the strings on the instrument, but they were still hung on the wall, deliberately filling up dust.
Emperor Wen of Sui and Empress Dugu saw this scene and thought that Yang Guang was not fond of sensuality, and praised King Jin for his thrift and good lifestyle in front of all the ministers.

hm l1 The second "pretending" is to pretend to be very affectionate with his wife, Concubine Xiao.
Yang Guang knew that his mother was "very jealous", especially that Queen Duhu was the most loyal person who favored her concubine and forgot her wife. He clearly had several concubines, but he deliberately pretended to be inseparable from Concubine Xiao. According to historical records, "The concubines are only in Luo, but only in the same place as Concubine Xiao. "

Even if the beauties in the harem are pregnant, they will have an abortion. When they find it too late to have an abortion, they will be strangled to death after giving birth.
So the Duhu Queen praised Yang Guang for his loyal love, virtuous character, and thought he was a virtuous king.
In addition to this, Yang Guang was a clever disguise and catered to his parents, he also made friends with officials.
l1 Whenever the court has served the left and right from the palace to the King of Jin, whether it is noble or lowly, Yang Guang and Concubine Xiao personally welcomed each other at the door, which seemed very humble and polite. The majority of officials praised Yang Guang's virtues in front of Emperor Wen of Sui and Queen Dugu. At this point, "the reputation is very good, and the title of asking for the king" "Book of Sui·Biography of the Four Sons of Wen)).

Of course, the "pretending" of King Yang Guang of Jin cannot be simply described as "falsification". This body reflects Yang Guang's agility in the complex palace struggles, and it can even be said that this also reflects his great talent.
Yang Yong lost his parents' favor. If he could realize his own problems and correct his own problems as soon as possible, he might have a chance to reform himself, but Yang Guang did not give him such a chance.
As Yang Guang made outstanding achievements in several wars such as the Pingchen Battle, his status and role became increasingly prominent, so he came up with the idea of seizing the clan.
However, since Qin Shihuang, the inheritance of the throne has always been the principle of "establishing the elders but not the young people". Therefore, Yang Guang needs to make another move, so that his parents, especially Empress Dugu, completely gave up on the crown prince Yang Yong.

The opportunity finally came. In 599 AD, Emperor Wen of Sui sent Yang Guang as the general manager of Yangzhou . Before leaving, Yang Guang entered the palace to bid farewell to Empress Dugu. He deliberately pretended to be reluctant and said in emotional language:
"The son is here to go to Jiangnan , stay away from his knees, unable to serve his parents, and he is really sad. ”
As he spoke, he leaned on the ground and cried bitterly. Queen Dugu also felt sad and held Yang Guang's hand and shed tears.
Yang Guang wiped his tears and said, "I don't know where I offended the crown prince. He is often full of anger and wants to frame me and kill me. I am worried all day long, worried that my life will not be guaranteed."
After saying that, Yang Guang actually burst into tears. After hearing this, Empress Dugu was furious and scolded Yang Yong for being a little bitch. She also said, "If he became the emperor, he would definitely harm your brothers. I must not let such a thing happen!" After hearing this, Yang Guang was full of joy. He suppressed the ecstasy in his heart, kowtowed, and cried, holding his mother for a long time and refused to leave. Queen Dugu was also very sad.
From then on, Empress Dugu decided to dismiss Yang Yong and change Yang Guang to the crown prince.

This decision of Empress Dugu was very critical in Yang Yong's deposed, because Emperor Wen of Sui was a person who was afraid of his own, and every decision he made had to listen to Empress Dugu's opinions. It can be said that Empress Dugu was a key figure who truly influenced Emperor Wen of Sui.
After saying goodbye, Yang Guang knew that his mother's feelings for Yang Yong had been shaken, so he began to arrange a plan to seize the clan, and he implemented a three-step strategy.
The first step is to get close to Yang Su and let him persuade Emperor Wen of Sui and Empress Dugu to depose the crown prince.
Yang Su was a hero of the founding state of the Sui Dynasty. He had a high position and was highly valued by Yang Jian. With his support, Yang Guang could be more powerful.
Yang Guang met Yang Su through Anzhou General Manager Yuwen Shu, and also told him about his plan to seize the clan. However, the capture of the country and the safety of the individual is related to the country and the safety of the individual. Once the wrong team is in the wrong position, it will cause a disaster. Yang Su dared not easily agree to Yang Guang.
For this reason, he first speculated on Queen Dugu’s true intentions. A few days later, when he went to the palace banquet, he deliberately praised Yang Guang for being filial and compassionate in front of Queen Dugu, and his demeanor as Emperor Wen of Sui. Sure enough, Empress Dugu was moved to tears for a moment and cried and said that Yang Guang was filial and that Prince Yang Yong attempted to murder his brothers.
Yang Su took the opportunity to say, Yang Yong had no talent and was unable to achieve anything. Empress Dugu took the opportunity to propose the idea of deposing the crown prince Yang Yong, and gave Yang Su a lot of gold, silver and treasures, asking him to convince Emperor Wen of Sui to make the decision to depose the crown prince early.

Step 2 using counter-espionage to buy Yang Yong's people around him.
Yang Guang secretly bribed Yang Yong's favored official Ling Jiwei, asking him to secretly observe Yang Yong's movements and report them to Yang Su secretly. Ji Wei immediately added fuel to the prince's actions and reported them to Yang Su, and made up some criminal privacy from time to time. So there was a slander about Yang Yong in the palace, and Emperor Wen of Sui could hear Yang Yong's faults every day.
The third step is to find the evidence of crime and list Yang Yong the crime.
Yang Guang and Yang Su conducted a large search of the East Palace. During the inspection, they found that there were a large number of "flints" and mugwort in the warehouse. Emperor Wen of Sui asked Ji Wei about the use of these things. Ji Wei said that the prince had ulterior motives in doing this, and wanted to use fire to directly control the city gate and starve the emperor to death.
Emperor Wen of Sui was so angry that his whole body trembled and shouted, "Come on, take down this rebellious son!"
At this time, Emperor Wen of Sui remembered Yang Yong's previous performances. Combined with the reports of the eyeliner he placed beside Yang Yong, he convicted Yang Yong three charges, namely "disobeying the imperial edict", "unworthy son" and "arrogant and extravagant" and immediately sent someone to put Yang Yong and his sons under house arrest.
On the same day, Emperor Wen of Sui issued an edict to depose Yang Yong and imprison him in the palace. Yang Jian then made Yang Guang the crown prince.

[Written at the end]
Yang Yong, who was the crown prince for 20 years, was deposed. In the view of later Tang prime minister Wei Zheng and others, this was mainly caused by Yang Guang's conspiracy and calculations. Is this really the case?
In fact, King Yang Guang of Jin stood out with his military achievements. In the Battle of Pingchen, Yang Guang, who was only 20 years old, became the commander and defeated the Southern Chen army in one fell swoop. He made frequent contributions in many battles since then, and his prestige among Emperor Wen of Sui and the court ministers has increased, which naturally posed a bad threat to Prince Yang Yong's palace.
In Landuo's view, the deposed prince Yang Yong is certainly related to Yang Guang's covet power and false accusation and fraud, but Yang Yong's own deception and deception.
First, Yang Yong caused the disgust of his father . As mentioned in the previous article, the "Wenshiteng Shu armor", the "Zhang Le's congratulations" incident and the "Yuan Family's violent death" incident, one by one, one by one, aroused dissatisfaction and suspicion of Emperor Wen of Sui and Empress Dugu.
Secondly, Yang Yong is greedy for beauty. This is also the thing that Emperor Wen of Sui and the Empress were most worried about. His eldest son, Yang Yan, King Changning, was born in an affair with a favorite concubine. When Emperor Wen of Sui questioned that the child was not the flesh and blood of the Yang family, Yang Yong even contradicted his father.
Finally, Yang Yong strengthened his defense and vigilance against the East Palace. This made Emperor Wen of Sui even more suspicious, resulting in a sharper conflict between father and son.
Under the three parties of Emperor Wen of Sui, Empress Dugu and Yang Guang, how could the Crown Prince Yang Yong not be abolished? Sure enough, it is the most ruthless imperial family.
