One day in 1963, Guilin Ronghu Hotel .
A woman stood at the door of a private room in Ronghu Hotel and kept looking inside. At this time, the guards guarding outside the private room asked, "Comrade, what are you doing?"
"I want to meet Martyman Chen Yi." The woman answered in response.
The guard immediately became vigilant when he heard this and asked the woman what happened to Marshal Chen Yi. The woman couldn't explain the whole story for a while. She immediately found a pen and a note, and wrote 7 words on it. Among these 7 words, she mentioned a person's name: Hu Shaohai . After writing, she handed the note to the guard and said: "Please give it to Marshal Chen Yi, he will meet me."
So, did this woman see Marshal Chen Yi? Why did she be sure that Marshal Chen Yi would meet her after he handed this note to Marshal Chen Yi? Who is Hu Shaohai she mentioned in the note? What is the relationship between Marshal Chen Yi and this person? What is her relationship with Hu Shaohai? The story starts with Hu Shaohai himself...
The first meeting between Zhu De, Chen Yi and Hu Shaohai
1898, Hu Shaohai was born in a landlord family in Yizhang County, Hunan Province. He studied in a private school when he was young, and later entered Lechang Middle School in Guangdong. During his studies in Lechang Middle School, Hu Shaohai accepted progressive ideas, which made him hate all kinds of inequalities in society at that time, and sympathize with the oppressed and exploited working peasants in his thoughts. Although
was born in a landlord family, Hu Shaohai was very dissatisfied with his father and brother's blackmail and oppression of the people. In 1921, Hu Shaohai resolutely left his family and joined the Kuomintang Li Guozhu's troops stationed in Jiahe County as a soldier. After the troops were reorganized in 1923, Hu Shaohai was promoted to the independent battalion commander because of his combat wit and courage.
1925, when the first cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China began, Hu Shaohai came to the martial arts school to study. There, he listened to the speeches of revolutionary patriots such as Premier Zhou, and initially came into contact with Marxist theory, understood many revolutionary principles, and improved his thoughts.
In 1926, Hu Shaohai's troops were changed to the Sixth Army of the National Revolution. He joined the army to participate in the famous Northern Expedition, and moved to Hunan and Hubei, and participated in the battle to conquer Wuchang.
In 1927, Chiang Kai-shek launched the notorious "April 12" counter-revolutionary coup in Shanghai. Hu Shaohai was extremely indignant about the heinous crimes committed by Chiang Kai-shek. In addition, his ideological progress was educated by the Communist Party of , which made him discriminated against. During a mission, Hu Shaohai did not do anything and took this opportunity to lead a part of Hunan soldiers to escape from the troops and sneak into the Hunan-Guangdong border and continue to work tirelessly for the cause of revolution.

Not long after, when Hu Shaohai learned that the leaders of the Yichang County Party Committee of the Communist Party of China were also hiding in this area, he led his troops to actively look for them. After getting in touch, he immediately handed over his troops to the Communist Party without hesitation. During this period, in view of Hu Shaohai's excellent performance, the party organization decided to absorb him as a Communist Party member. At the same time, Zhu De, Chen Yi and others led the troops of the Nanchang Uprising to fight many times. When they led the troops to fight in northern Guangdong, when they were hungry and cold, Fan Shisheng incorporated Zhu De's troops and, on the basis of retaining the establishment, adapted their troops to the 140th Regiment of the 16th Army of the National Revolutionary Army.
However, not long after, Chiang Kai-shek discovered that the remaining troops of the Nanchang Uprising were hidden in Fan Shisheng's troops, and immediately ordered Fan Shisheng to disarm the rebel army and arrest Zhu De and other leaders.
At this extremely urgent and critical moment, Zhu De, together with Chen Yi, Wang Zhuoer and Gong Chu, decided to "realize the Rucheng Conference and launch the Hunan riot."
However, Fan Shisheng did not execute Chiang Kai-shek's orders, but instead thought of his friendship with Zhu De, he sent Zhu De 5,000 Yinyang 5,000 quilts and other military supplies, and also added 60,000 rifle bullets.
After deciding to launch the riot in southern Hunan, Zhu De asked Gong Chu: "South Hunan Do you know any comrades in our party who understands military?"

After careful thinking, Gong Chu shook his head and said: "Not, but I have a friend named Hu Shaohai . He was once the deputy commander of the Sixth Army of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Army. Although he is not a comrade of our party, he is a sympathizer of our party. He is brave and resourceful in wars. He is a rare general."
"Where is he now?" Hearing this, Zhu De immediately became interested.
Gong Chu hurriedly said: "I don't know exactly where it is, but it is said that he was dissatisfied with Chiang Kai-shek's actions and left the army with some of his subordinates. Now he is killing the rich and helping the poor in the Yangjiazhai area on the border of Hunan and Guangdong."
After learning of this news, Zhu De immediately led his troops to advance to southern Hunan. Due to the relationship between Yang Zida (Yizhang County Committee of the Communist Party of China), Zhu De and Chen Yi led their troops into Yangjiazhai smoothly and were treated well by the villagers. It was also there. Marshal Zhu De and Marshal Chen Yi had their first meeting with Hu Shaohai.
After seeing Hu Shaohai, Zhu De immediately stood up to greet him: "Hello Comrade Shaohai."
Can be called "comrade" by Zhu De, the leader of the Communist Party of China whom he has admired for a long time, Hu Shaohai felt very warm, and he quickly saluted a standard military salute.
"Oh, let me introduce you to the regiment political instructor Chen Yi, this is the regiment chief of staff Wang Erzhuo. As for Gong Chu, you are old acquaintances, and he is now the regiment deputy." Zhu De pointed to the person beside him and introduced to Hu Shaohai.
Before Hu Shaohai could speak, Chen Yi's voice was loud and he said humorously: "Comrade Shaohai, you are as strong as me, you are a standard soldier."

Hearing this, everyone present burst into laughter.
Then, Zhu De praised Hu Shaohai again and said: "Comrade Shaohai, I heard Comrade Gong Chu introduce some of your situation. I know that you came from a wealthy family, but I sympathized with the cause of our Communist Party. I let the officers of the Kuomintang army not do anything, and I work on the revolution with the working people. It is not easy!"
Hu Shaohai said excitedly when he heard this. It said: "Isn't that the same thing about you? It's even more admirable for letting the Kuomintang officials not do it, but risking their lives to lead the poor and poor people to make a comeback! What I want to tell you is that I not only sympathize with the Communist Party, but also follow the Communist Party to carry out the revolution. A few days ago, I submitted an application to our Yizhang County Committee of the Communist Party of China, and it is estimated that it will be approved in the next few days."
"Okay, okay, Shaohai Comrade, our party welcomes your joining. With your joining, our party will have another military-know cadre. "As the head of the army led by the Communist Party, Zhu De's greatest hope is that more and more military-know cadres can join the Communist Party.
Then, everyone talked for a while, and then they dispersed reluctantly. That night, Hu Shaohai was immersed in joy and couldn't fall asleep...
"You are really a good comrade in the revolutionary camp!"
In 1928, Zhu De decided to organize the Yizhang riot in southern Hunan.
According to the plan, Hu Shaohai first rode a tall horse and led a few followers into Yizhang county town to take the lead. After Hu Shaohai arrived at Yizhang County, he went straight to the county government. The county magistrate had heard of the name of "Holy Master Hu", so he immediately came out to greet him.

After a wave of greetings, Hu Shaohai told the county magistrate that he was going to the county town to fight for the front station, and the large army led by regiment commander Wang Kai (pseudonym Zhu De) arrived later.
On the afternoon of the afternoon, Zhu De led the entire regiment into the city, arranged posts on all major roads as planned, and controlled the Kuomintang County Police Bureau and the Security Corps. At that time, the reactionary gentry of Yizhang County saw that the officers and soldiers were wearing Kuomintang military caps and wearing Kuomintang military flags, and they had no doubt at all.
That night, in accordance with Zhu De's instructions, Hu Shaohai placed a "shark fin mat" on the second floor of the county Senate under the name of "rewarding the elders of the hometown".
Amid the noise and melodious music, everyone entered the seat. After several times of pushing the cups and asking questions, a "running hall" walked into the hall, shouting the signal that the uprising was ready-made--"The fish is coming!"
Zhu De threw the cup to the ground when he heard the sound. The guards on the side got the signal and rushed towards the enemy sentry and disarmed them.
At the same time, according to the agreed signal, a cannon sounded in the city. After a brief battle, the enemy had basically been disarmed. Then, under the command of Zhu De, the uprising team opened the prison, released the detained revolutionaries and suffering farmers, and opened the granary and distributed it to the residents in the city.

During this period, Hu Shaohai also went home to explain the Communist Party’s proposition to his father and tried his best to persuade his father, but Hu Shaohai’s persuasion made his father very angry. The next day, Hu Shaohai’s fourth brother and sixth brother also found Hu Shaohai and persuaded him to leave the revolution and live a comfortable life as a young master.
Faced with the brother's persuasion, Hu Shaohai said decisively: "Since the world is unfair, I, the fifth brother, will follow the Communist Party to purge you! Go back and tell your father that I am a revolutionary person, I will not want this family!"
After the success of this riot, Hu Shaohai was promoted to the commander of the Third Regiment of the First Division of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army, and joined in February of the same year.
On April 28, 1928, the First Division of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army led by Zhu De and Chen Yi and the peasant army in southern Hunan led by Hu Shaohai arrived in the Jinggangshan area. Chairman Mao and Zhu De met at Longjiang Academy . The next day, Chairman Mao made a special trip to Hu Shaohai's residence.
It was evening, and Hu Shaohai was in the room. Suddenly, he heard someone coming outside the house and stood up quickly. Seeing that Chairman Mao was visiting him, he took a few steps to meet him. Chairman Mao hurriedly stretched out his hands and held Hu Shaohai's hand tightly and said: "Thank you all the way! Welcome your peasant army in Yichang to Jinggangshan. From now on, we can fight for the revolution together!"
Hu Shaohai looked at Chairman Mao, who had heard of his name for a long time, and felt like he was right at first sight. He replied: "Yes, in the future, our troops will unite together! The power was greatly enhanced when fighting."
Chairman Mao nodded and immediately handed Hu Shaohai a cigarette. Hu Shaohai signaled that he would not smoke. At this time, Chairman Mao noticed that Hu Shaohai was dressed very simply and lived a very simple life. He praised: "You are really a good comrade in the revolutionary camp!"

Then, Hu Shaohai reported to Chairman Mao about the riots at the Yichang Eve and the troops' victory over difficulties and obstacles to Jinggangshan.
For a moment, both of them started talking and started talking. They talked about their past struggle experiences, causes and lessons of failure, and expected the future of the troops and the prospects of the revolution, and did not disperse until late at night.
Chairman Mao's talent, far-sightedness, rich struggle experience, and enthusiastic and unrestrained speech deeply attracted Hu Shaohai. He said to Chairman Mao with great emotion: "We have your leadership in the future, and the future of the revolution is more promising!"
On May 4, 1928, in Longshi, the three troops of the Nanchang Uprising, the Hunan South Uprising and the Autumn Harvest Uprising and successfully met and were combined into , the Fourth Army of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army. Hu Shaohai was elected as a member of the Military Commission of the Fourth Army and the Commander of the 29th Regiment of the 10th Division.
From then on, Hu Shaohai followed Chairman Mao and Zhu De's Red Fourth Army to Gannan and Fujian , and launched a desperate battle with the enemy. With the wisdom and great strategy of an outstanding commander, he won many battles, making great contributions to the Red Fourth Army's march into southern Jiangxi and western Fujian and establishing a base here.
In September 1929, the party organization formed the first regular force of the local Red Army in western Fujian, the Fourth Column of the Red Fourth Army, and made Hu Shaohai the commander of the Fourth Column.
In October of the same year, Chairman Mao met with Hu Shaohai and others at Linjiang Tower in Shanghang. After seeing Hu Shaohai, Chairman Mao held his hand tightly and asked with concern:
"Membersman, are you still used to staying in western Fujian? You should bring the good tradition of the Red Army to the Fourth Column so that this local armed forces will become a strong brigade of the Red Army as soon as possible."

Hu Shaohai is a soldier and bright He replied in his voice: "Committee Mao, I will do my best to lead the team well and live up to your expectations."
Chairman Mao nodded, and then instructed earnestly: "Membersman, you must learn more from local comrades. Without them, we will have no place to stand. We can only walk through the streets and wander around!"
Hearing this, Hu Shaohai nodded repeatedly. In the years that followed, Hu Shaohai was still brave and resourceful in commanding the battle, and led the troops to victory many times.
Unfortunately, in August 1930, while commanding the battle in Yongfu area of Longyan, Hu Shaohai was unfortunately hit in the abdomen by the enemy machine gun , and was seriously injured and fell in a pool of blood. The soldiers immediately carried Hu Shaohai to Longyan for rescue, but unfortunately died due to excessive injuries. This year, Hu Shaohai was only 32 years old.
The general star died early, neither Chairman Mao nor Zhu De and Chen Yi were infinitely sad and extremely regretful.
"It's so great! Comrade Hu Shaohai has descendants!"
Although Hu Shaohai's life was very short, it was supremely glorious because he dedicated everything to the revolution and the people.
In the years that followed, whether it was Chairman Mao, Marshal Zhu De and Marshal Chen Yi, they all missed Hu Shaohai deeply. However, what they didn’t know was that in addition to having a child that had died, Hu Shaohai also had two daughters with his first wife: Hu Dieying and Hu Ciying. Marshal Chen Yi did not know about this in 1963...

1963, after the Standing Committee of the Military Commission ended, Premier Zhou and Marshal Chen Yi and other central leaders visited Guilin. After returning late, everyone had a meal at the Ronghu Hotel.
When Hu Ciying, who was working in the laundry room of Ronghu Hotel, learned that Marshal Chen Yi was having a meal in the hotel, she immediately came to the private room where Marshal Chen Yi was, just to meet Marshal Chen Yi, whom her father Hu Shaohai mentioned and praised in the letter to express her longing for her father.
But when Hu Ciying came outside the private room, it was not that good to see Marshal Chen Yi. After all, there were guards at the door protecting the safety of the central leaders. When the guard saw that she had been staying outside the private room for too long, he asked her what was wrong. For a moment, she didn't know how to communicate with the guards. After thinking about it, Hu Ciying wrote 7 words on a piece of paper: "I am Hu Shaohai's daughter "" and handed it to the guard and said: "Please give it to Marshal Chen Yi for help, he will meet me."
Soon, the guard knocked on the door of the private room, went in and handed the note to Marshal Chen Yi, and reported: "There is a woman outside who wants to see you, and she said that you will meet her after reading this note."
Marshal Chen Yi opened the note and saw that his eyes were filled with tears. His hands holding the note couldn't help but tremble, and he said happily: "That's great, he still has descendants! It’s so great, Comrade Hu Shaohai and his descendants! Hurry, take me there, I want to see her! "

As soon as he walked out of the private room, Marshal Chen Yi saw Hu Ciying who looked very similar to Hu Shaohai. He hurriedly walked up and stretched out his hand, held Hu Ciying's hand tightly, and said with a choking: "It looks, it's so much like your father. "
Then Marshal Chen Yi took Hu Ciying to a place and sat down. He simply asked Hu Ciying's name and current situation, whether his family was in trouble, and whether he needed help.
Hu Ciying looked at Marshal Chen Yi, smiled and shook his head: "Thank you for your concern, I live a good life and am very happy. "
Hearing this, Marshal Chen Yi nodded slowly and asked again: "Do you still have brothers and sisters?" "
Hu Ciying nodded and said sadly: "I have a sister named Hu Dieying, but she has died of illness, but she has a son who is a middle school teacher. "
Marshal Chen Yi couldn't help but feel sad because he never knew that his comrade Hu Shaohai had a child alive. If he knew, he would do his best to take care of him...

In 2014, a reporter interviewed Hu Ciying's daughter Huang Manling At that time, Huang Manling recalled with emotion:
"When the whole family settled in Guilin, the youngest sister was not born yet. The mother got up early and went to bed late, and was busy from morning to night. She could only barely fill her stomach with thin pumpkin porridge. However, when Marshal Chen Yi asked about her mother's recent life, her mother felt that she could not bother and trouble the organization just because she was a descendant of a martyr. As the children of a martyr, she naturally had to inherit the excellent morals of her grandfather. ”
Looking at the life of martyr Hu Shaohai, although it is very short, he is always loyal to the people and the cause of communism, and he will always remain in the hearts of the people!
