Hu Changbao is from Ji'an, Jiangxi Province. He was born in 1912 and has a family in poverty. After joining the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army at the age of 18, he was quick-witted and was selected to be the central security squad responsible for Chairman Mao's safety, and later served as the squad leader. In October 1934, he embarked on the Long March of the Red Army.

We comrades who survived by chance should never forget them.
Because of this, for so many years of liberation, the Chairman never thought of building a tomb for the sacrificed Mao family, nor did he mention finding the bodies of two martyrs' younger brothers. But he always had a wish to find Hu Changbao's relatives.
Following the instructions of the chairman, Chen Changfeng, who had already served as the commander of the Jiangxi Provincial Military Region at that time, checked the information several times and visited the masses, hoping to find some useful clues, but was disappointed again and again. Failure to fulfill the mission assigned by the Chairman became a great regret for Chen Changfeng when he died.
In 1990, the Xingjing County Government established a working group and began to search for the body and grave of martyr Hu Changbao. Unfortunately, there has been no progress in finding relatives. In 2005, the Hu Changbao Martyrs Memorial Hall was completed in Xingjing County, Ya'an City, and is available for people from all walks of life to come and pay tribute. The primary school where Hu Changbao died was named "Hu Changbao Primary School", and the martyrs and his deeds will be passed down from generation to generation.
