The Republic of China had just been established at that time. The Beiyang Government represented by Yuan Shikai opened this military academy in order to train army soldiers. Because it was opened in Baoding , everyone called it Baoding Military Academic. At that time, Yuan Shikai had just taken over the power of Li Hongzhang . In order to resist the invaders, he began to cultivate military power. However, at that time, Tianjin had been controlled by the invaders and China was not allowed to train troops nearby. Therefore, Yuan Shikai had to choose the area outside the pass, which led to the Baoding Military Academy.
