In 1971, she was the only female member of the Chinese delegation to restore the legal seat in the United Nations . The following spring, when Nixon and Premier Zhou shook hands at Capital Airport , Wang Hairong stood behind Premier Zhou. Such an outstanding female diplomat also has an unusual life experience in her. Chairman Mao’s granddaughter Kong Dongmei once wrote in her works that she called Wang Hairong the cousin. Because by generation, Chairman Mao should call her grandfather "Jiu Brother", so she is considered Chairman Mao’s cousin and granddaughter, so she is naturally the same generation as Kong Dongmei.
Wang Hairong's grandfather Wang Jifan , has been engaged in education for many years. When Chairman Mao was studying, he received a lot of care from this ninth brother. Wang Hairong's father Wang Deheng was inspired by the revolution that year and entered the " Anti-Great " study on Yan'an . Later, came to become a formal Communist Party member under the introduction of Mao Zemin.

In 1959, Wang Jifan was also invited to attend the wedding of Li Min and Kong Linghua. Wang Hairong has had good academic performance since childhood, but unexpectedly failed to get a name when taking the college entrance examination. This made her very frustrated, but she quickly cheered up and thought that she would not be able to go to college and being a worker was also a contribution to the country, so she came to work in a chemical factory in Beijing.
However, with the encouragement of Chairman Mao and her grandfather, she picked up the book again, and this time she finally entered the university and became a Russian major. She was very hardworking. In addition to Russian, she also taught herself English and French German . She spent almost all of her college years in the library.

Wang Hairong, who just graduated in 1964, came to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to report. However, due to work needs, she was directly arranged to study English at the School of Foreign Affairs for one year without joining the work.
In 1965, Wang Hairong completed her studies and officially started her diplomatic career. Because of her outstanding work performance, she was recognized by her superiors and colleagues. At the age of 36, she became the youngest and the first female deputy minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After the special period, the organization arranged for her to study at the Central Party School. Since , Wang Hairong was transferred to the State Council for work in 1984.
Wang Hairong was unmarried all her life. She never mentioned the reason, but her colleagues she had worked with felt that the reason why she was not married was largely because she was too outstanding and had not found a partner that matched her. Although she is single, Wang Hairong has always lived with her mother and younger brother's family, and it is also lively. She thinks that such a life is good and never feels regretful.
