11 On March 9, 2024, the Tianjin Local Executive Committee of the China Socialist Youth League was established. Yu Fangzhou, a graduate student, established a Youth League branch on the school. In addition, the Youth League Committee also held a plenary meeting at the school. In 1926, during the time when the National Revolutionary Army entered Tianjin, various mass groups under the leadership of the Tianjin Prefectural Committee of the Communist Party of China transferred to public activities, and the work of universities, middle schools and schools was also carried out, and the school established a party branch. During the Anti-Japanese War, the school was also an important base for the underground party activities in Tianjin. In order to seek truth and a way out, young students secretly read progressive books and magazines. For a time, various forms of reading clubs emerged inside and outside the school like mushrooms after a rain. Among them, the more important ones were the Spartan clubs with Wang Wenyuan and as members, the reading clubs with Zheng Keshu and et al. and the Liming reading clubs with Guo Hua and others as members. They secretly develop members in secret, and the content of the activities is mainly to read progressive books and magazines, discuss domestic and international situations, report and exchange ideas, carry out social investigations, and conduct physical exercise. It is precisely under the influence of these three progressive reading clubs and the help and education of underground party organizations that most of the students who have participated in the reading club later participated in progressive organizations such as the Chinese National Liberation Pioneer, the Chinese Youth Anti-Japanese Pioneer, and the Tianjin Anti-Japanese and National Salvation Federation, making their own contributions to the cause of national liberation, and some even sacrificed their precious lives. In January 1946, the school’s underground party organization successfully led all teachers and students to carry out the anti-"instrumental review" struggle. On the eve of Tianjin's liberation, the school's underground party organization actively carried out publicity and school protection struggles in accordance with the Party's urban work policy, and cooperated with the People's Liberation Army to bring this long-standing school to the people intact.
