Foreword
The reason why Deng Xiaoping was able to make such a great contribution to China's revolution and construction in his life was because he had a warm and happy home and a gentle, kind-hearted wife who constantly provided him with support and help. Inseparable.
From Zhuo Lin, we can see the traditional virtues of Chinese women of that era who were devoted to their husbands and children, and we can also see the noble sentiments of intellectuals in the new era who pursue progress, stick to their beliefs, and have great love. It can be said that Deng Xiaoping's magnificent life was inseparable from Zhuo Lin's hand in hand.
Deng Xiaoping and Zhuo Lin
A revolutionary couple who stick to their beliefs
Deng Xiaoping and Zhuo Lin met through introduction. In 1939, the two held a simple wedding at the foot of Pagoda Mountain and became a family.
Not long after his marriage, Deng Xiaoping received a new task. The couple walked together in the autumn morning light, leaving Yan'an and rushing to the anti-Japanese battlefield Taihang Mountain .
After entering the Taihang Mountains and arriving at the Eighth Route Army headquarters, Zhuo Lin stayed as the captain of the women's training class. Deng Xiaoping served as the political commissar of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, so he did not stop and immediately rushed to Tongyu Village, Liao County, where the 129th Division Station was located.
Newlyweds and separations can’t help but add a bit of sadness. However, the common revolutionary ideals and beliefs tightly connect the hearts of the couple. They fought at their respective posts and accepted the baptism of war.
As soon as Deng Xiaoping returned to the headquarters of the 129th Division, he immediately devoted himself to intense combat command.
Although the Eighth Route Army headquarters where Zhuo Lin is located is an agency, it still has to be tested by bullets and bullets from time to time in the Taihang Mountains. But she marched, fought, and fought against "mopping up" with the agencies and troops without fear.
Deng Xiaoping
In 1940, , Taihang District, , where Deng Xiaoping was located, was "encircled and suppressed" many times by the Japanese invading troops and was in a difficult situation. At this time, Zhuo Lin came to Deng Xiaoping from the Eighth Route Army Headquarters and was assigned to work in the Secretarial Department of the 129th Division.
Since marrying Deng Xiaoping, Zhuo Lin has not had the opportunity to fulfill her responsibilities as a wife. It was not until the couple finally reunited that she had the opportunity to take care of Deng Xiaoping's life and assist him in his work. From then on, they marched and fought together. Although they sometimes reunited and sometimes separated due to the tension of the war, no matter what, they finally had a home.
Time flies so fast, and in a blink of an eye it is 1942, the fifth year of the Anti-Japanese War. The Japanese aggressor army stepped up its "encirclement and suppression" campaign against the Japanese anti-Japanese base areas behind enemy lines, implemented the "Three Lights" policy, and strictly blocked the main transportation routes leading to the base areas. In addition, they suffered from natural disasters, and the lives of the soldiers and civilians in the base areas were in extreme difficulties.
In order to win the Anti-Japanese War, overcome famine and overcome difficulties, Liu Bocheng, commander of the 129th Division, and political commissar Deng Xiaoping called on the troops to open up wasteland and cultivate land, develop production, and implement production self-rescue.
Zhuo Lin responded positively to the call and immediately participated in the production self-rescue movement. She and Liu Bocheng's wife, Wang Ronghua, were responsible for the registration of lesbians. After the people were gathered, they led them up the mountain and worked with the male comrades to open up wasteland and farm the land.
Deng Xiaoping, Zhuo Lin
Her hands, which have been holding pens all year round, picked up the hoe.
’s hard work has yielded fruitful results.
In the ground, under the green leaves, red radishes grew. I pulled it out and weighed it. It weighed six kilograms.
Zhuo Lin happily picked up this big carrot and came to Deng Xiaoping.
Deng Xiaoping saw it and said happily: "This is called the Carrot King!"
At that time, the dressing of the troops was also a big problem. Winter has come, and the troops finally raised some homespun cloth and cotton. In order to put everyone in winter clothes as soon as possible, Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping called on officers and soldiers to start spinning and making clothes.
Soon, a homemade handmade spinning wheel was set up in Deng Xiaoping's office. Deng Xiaoping and Zhuo Lin helped each other and jointly studied the spinning method, and soon learned to spin. Sometimes, while Deng Xiaoping was spinning, Zhuo Lin would knit sweaters directly next to him with the spun threads. It was late at night, and the sound of "squeak, squeak, squeak" was still coming from Deng Xiaoping's office.
Since then, Zhuo Lin has developed a skillful and fast wool knitting technique. After liberation, the sweaters and trousers of the whole family, old and young, were all knitted by her skillful hands.
Deng Xiaoping and Zhuo Lin
The women behind the great men of the era
Zhuo Lin and Deng Xiaoping spent five hard years together in the Taihang Mountains. In the past five years, the couple had shared life and death together, and they had three children. However, because conditions did not allow it at the time, they had to foster their children in the homes of fellow villagers until the end of the Anti-Japanese War in December 1945. Lincai took her three children back to her, and the family of five reunited for the first time.
From then on, Zhuo Lin was busy taking care of three noisy children every day, and the family slowly settled down, while Deng Xiaoping was busy with military and political affairs every day.
Later, they went to Handan , Luoyang , Shanghai, and Chongqing. In Chongqing, three more people were added to the family: the youngest daughter, the youngest son, and Deng Xiaoping's stepmother Xia Bergen. Zhuo Lin still takes on the important responsibility of educating her children and taking care of her family. With the change of positions, Deng Xiaoping became even busier.
In 1952, Deng Xiaoping was ordered to be transferred to the Central Committee. Zhuo Lin, her five daughters and Xia Bogen also followed him to Beijing.
After arriving in Beijing, Zhuo Lin was transferred to work in the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and became Deng Xiaoping's life secretary. But most of the time, Zhuo Lin still takes care of the family full time.
Zhuo Lin
Diligence and thrift are the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation. Although Zhuo Lin grew up in a wealthy family, the long-term hard life after participating in the revolution made her deeply appreciate the importance of being diligent and thrifty, and this became the basic principle of her life. After moving to the capital, her living conditions improved, but she did not forget to be diligent and frugal.
Zhuo Lin often said to her family: "These things belong to the party and the country, and are the property of the people. Our country is so poor. We cannot waste them."
Before going to bed at night, Zhuo Lin always walks around in various rooms. , to see if the lights are turned off; after using water, always check to see if the faucet is closed properly. Her diligent and frugal living habits persisted until her death, and she became a model for the family to save electricity, water, gasoline and care for public property for decades.
In 1955, workers in party and state agencies began to implement a salary system and abolished the supply system.
Deng Xiaoping
After the salary system was implemented, Zhuo Lin and Deng Xiaoping could receive more than 100 yuan and 400 yuan in salary respectively. Every time she received her salary, Zhuo Lin began to plan her family's life. She first used 30 yuan to pay the party fee and room fee, and almost all the rest was spent on food for the whole family. On this point, her thoughts were consistent with those of Deng Xiaoping’s stepmother, Xia Bogen. They believe that children are growing up and all they need to do is wear clean and neat clothes. The clothes of the children in the family are almost all changed by adults, that is, the clothes worn by the older children are changed into small ones and patched, which is very simple. Meals for the whole family required careful planning, and Deng Xiaoping was busy with work and worked overtime every day, so his body also needed nourishment. Therefore, Zhuo Lin tried her best to arrange recipes and buy some nutritious food so that her family could eat well.
In addition, Deng Xiaoping liked to drink some wine. Every day at lunch, Zhuo Lin would pour him a cup to satisfy his craving. When life was difficult, in order to save money, Zhuo Lin once mixed " Wuliangye " with half of Beijing's " Erguotou " and mixed it with Deng Xiaoping. However, even if he drank "fake wine", Deng Xiaoping didn't care. He drank it comfortably and energetically.
Later, Zhuo Lin couldn’t stand it anymore. She no longer mixed wine, and proactively said to the chef at home: "Give him good wine. The old man only has one hobby in his life, so give him some good wine!"
After that, Deng Xiaoping was able to drink good wine again. .
Deng Xiaoping
Smoking, although it affects physical health and is very harmful to people, is a bad habit. However, Deng Xiaoping developed the habit of smoking as early as the war years and smoked violently.Zhuo Lin did not dissuade her husband from this habit and left it entirely up to him. It just added another expense to her account book.
Many years later, Deng Xiaoping, who was in his 80s, gave up the smoking habit with amazing perseverance.
In addition to taking care of Deng Xiaoping's life, Zhuo Lin also helped him organize and copy documents and do some work within her ability. Sometimes she and Deng Xiaoping would be busy at work until late at night.
Starting in 1969, the life of Deng Xiaoping's family became a little difficult, and they had no extra money to buy wine. But Zhuo Lin knew that her husband only had this hobby, so in order to satisfy her husband's hobby, she took the initiative to find a master worker to learn how to brew rice wine, and after learning it, she started making wine for Deng Xiaoping.
Later, Deng Xiaoping returned to Beijing and resumed important leadership positions in the party and the country. He was very busy at work. Zhuo Lin devoted a lot of energy and actively helped deal with some things that her husband had no time to take care of.
A group photo of Deng Xiaoping and his family
As Deng Xiaoping’s wife, Zhuo Lin had never been to Deng Xiaoping’s hometown, but she was always very enthusiastic about the affairs of the Deng family. No matter what matters came to Deng's relatives and friends, she would deal with them in a reasonable and reasonable manner on Deng Xiaoping's behalf.
Deng Xiaoping had an uncle and aunt living in his hometown. Zhuo Lin often sent them money to help them with their daily lives, and told them to abide by the policies and laws of the party and the country and not to be special. The two old people have been living a simple life in their hometown.
In February 1978, Zhuo Lin accompanied Deng Xiaoping back to Chengdu, Sichuan, where he had been away for many years. He met with responsible comrades in Guang'an County, Deng Xiaoping's hometown, and inquired in detail about the production and living conditions of the people in Guang'an. During the conversation, when she heard that the people of Guang'an wanted to build a memorial hall and maintain the former residence of Deng Xiaoping, Zhuo Lin immediately conveyed Deng Xiaoping's repeated objections to building a memorial hall and maintaining the former residence.
Although Zhuo Lin is the housewife of the family, the meals she cooks are not loved by the children. Because in the children's hearts, dad is the one who knows how to cook best. Deng Xiaoping is from Sichuan. The Sichuan cuisine he cooks is very delicious and the children like it very much. However, Deng Xiaoping did not deprive Zhuo Lin of her right to cook, but instead often provided her with opportunities.
During festivals, Deng Xiaoping always asked his staff to go home early for reunions. During the festival, the task of cooking naturally falls on Mrs. Zhuo Lin. With a flurry of pots and pans, a table of delicacies was quickly presented to everyone.
Zhuo Lin Memorial Service
On July 29, 2009, Zhuo Lin died in Beijing due to ineffective treatment. When the news came, people from all walks of life mourned deeply in different ways and remembered the "red sister" behind this great man.
Like Deng Xiaoping, Zhuo Lin also left such a last wish: to donate her body and corneas and scatter her ashes into the sea. Don't cause any trouble to the country. She wants to reunite with her beloved husband in the depths of the sea...
