Andehai purified himself very early and entered the palace at the age of eight or nine, and later served as an imperial eunuch beside Emperor Xianfeng.
Andehai was smart and good at flattery, and was loved by Emperor Xianfeng and Yehenala.
In order to supervise Xianfeng , Yehenara also asked him to act as an undercover agent next to Chengfeng.
On July 17th of Xinjiu, the eleventh year of Xianfeng, Emperor Xianfeng died of illness in the Chengde Palace. Andehai offered the "bitter meat plan" and endured the pain of his own flesh and blood, running back and forth between Rehe and Beijing to help Ye The Henara clan launched the "Xinyou Coup" and took away the power of Sushun and other eight ministers who took care of their lives.
The coup was successful, and Andehai was promoted to the chief eunuch and became a prominent figure in the court.
An Dehai was a villain who got his way and relied on his own achievements to suppress Prince Gong Yi Li. He singled out two empress dowagers and interfered in government affairs. He was so complacent that he became arrogant.
In July of the eighth year of Tongzhi (1869), Andehai, following the decree of Yehenala, the Empress Dowager Cixi, went out of Beijing to the south to purchase the wedding attire of Emperor Tongzhi.
According to the ancestral family law system of the Qing Dynasty royal family, eunuchs were not allowed to leave the palace.
But An Dehai was confident, flamboyant, swaggering through the city, touring the mountains and rivers all the way, even more grandiose than an imperial envoy minister.
Andehai's arrogance angered Shandong Governor Ding Baozhen.
Ding Baozhen, who served as governor of Shandong and governor of Sichuan, was an important member of the Westernization Movement in the late Qing Dynasty. He was a master who was not afraid of heaven or earth. He had long heard that Andehai used fame and fortune as bait in the court, cultivated party members, and made friends with courtiers. He was known as "Wei Zhongxian of the Qing Dynasty". Now Andehai ignores the Qing system, leaves Beijing to show off, and makes money everywhere. He has the intention to kill Andehai and eliminate harm for the country.
Poor Andehai didn't know it, and he broke into Ding Baozhen's territory in a big way, but was ignored by Ding Baozhen and thrown into prison.
To say that Ding Baozhen's work efficiency is quite astonishing.
He captured Andehai on August 2nd. On August 7th, after personally verifying the truth, he killed Andehai in Jinan. From capture to execution, it only took five days.
Also killed at the same time were more than 20 members of Andehai's party. The charge Ding Baozhen charged against Andehai was simple and clear: the eunuch went far away without permission and carried out justice on the spot according to the family law of the Qing ancestors.
Although Ding Baozhen is upright, he is not reckless. He also knew that he was making trouble on Tai Sui's head. In order to prevent Cixi from telling her sufferings, she devised a clever plan and ordered her body to be exposed for three days.
Ding Baozhen's move killed two birds with one stone:
1. Both the government and the public were angry at Ande Hai, and displaying Ande Hai's body in the city would calm the public's anger;
2. There have been widespread rumors in society that Empress Dowager Cixi and Ande Hai had an affair. The relationship between men and women was legitimate, and now that An Dehai's body was lying on the street, people could clearly see that An Dehai was a genuine eunuch who could wash away the injustice of Empress Dowager Cixi.
In this way, Cixi not only could not blame Ding Baozhen, but also thanked him Ding Baozhen.
Sure enough, Ding Baozhen reported the execution of Andhai and the three-day exposure of Andhai's body to Cixi. Cixi was unable to tell the story of her suffering, and dared not speak out in anger. Not only could she not blame Ding Baozhen for violating the law, but she also promoted Ding Baozhen.
