Monroe lays on Jin Yong's martial arts for you, click to follow to read the series.
Duan Yu in Jin Yong's novel "Tian Long Ba Bu" is a life winner. Jin Yong once said that among the many characters in his own writing, he most wants to be Duan Yu.
Duan Yu has a kind heart and a kind heart. Although he doesn't like martial arts, he has no intention of learning Beiming magical skills, Lingbo microsteps, and six-channel magic sword. His internal strength is shocking. Not only was he strong in martial arts, he later ascended to the throne of the emperor of the Dali Kingdom, sitting on concubines such as Mu Wanqing, Zhong Ling and Xiaolei, enjoying prosperity and wealth.

In fact, this Duan's reputation is indeed a person in history. His real name is Duan and his reputation. What kind of emperor is he in history? Let me speak slowly.
一
In 937 AD, the late Jin Tonghai Jeddu envoy Duan Siping joined forces with the aristocrats Gao Fang and Dong Jialuo in the Erhai area to destroy the Ningguo of Dayi, and set the capital Yangjumei City (now Dali, Yunnan), the country name "Dali".
The Duan clan of the Dali country claimed to be of Baiman aristocratic origin, but some scholars believed that they were originally from the Wuwei Han (some say it was Di). They went south to Yunnan in the middle of Nanzhao Kingdom and accepted the local culture. For example, the Duan family believed deeply in Buddhism, and there were 10 emperors in Dali State who became monks.
Everyone feels strange to see Duan Zhengyan's name. Why is he the same character as his father Duan Zhengchun? In fact, this is also the custom of the southwestern peoples, choosing one word as the common character for the name, and it is passed on from generation to generation. For example, the following picture shows the emperor lineage of the former Dali country (Dali is divided into "pre-Dali country" and "post-Dali country"):

because of the Duan family In Dali, it belongs to the foreign population, and the foundation is not deep. Their ability to be emperors was the result of the compromise of the local tribes in the southwest. The tribes are not convinced by anyone, and simply let the foreign Duan clan be the emperor in order to calm people's hearts.
Because of this, although the Duan clan was the emperor of the Dali Kingdom, he could not alone hold the power. The power was often in the hands of other powerful clans, such as the Gao clan.

二
When the throne was passed to Duan Zhengming's uncle Duan Zhengming, the exclusive Gao Shengtai Self-reliance as the emperor, known as the "Lord of Great China", ended the "former Dali country". But Gao Shengtai's usurpation aroused opposition from other tribes, so when Gao Shengtai became seriously ill two years later, he asked his son Gao Taiming to return to the Duan clan.
After Gao Shengtai's death, Gao Taiming embraced Duan Zhengming's younger brother Duan Zhengchun as the emperor, and was known as the "Post-Dali Kingdom" in history. However, since then, the Gao family has been in charge of the government, and has a high position and is known as the "high country lord."
This period of history is different from the one described in the novel. In "Tianlong Ba Bu", Gao Shengtai was Duan Zhengchun's loyal minister, and Duan Zhengchun died before Duan Zhengming, and Duan Zhengming directly passed the throne to Duan Yu. Since it is a novel, it is normal to not conform to history.

三
In the second year of the Northern Song Dynasty Huizong Grand View (1107), Duan Zhengchun passed the throne to his son Duan Zhengyan (Also called Duan Heyu), he became a monk by himself.
Duan Zhengyan has been emperor for 40 years and is the longest emperor in the history of Dali. Duan Zhengyan also avoided becoming a monk in the 17th year of Emperor Gaozong in the Southern Song Dynasty in Shaoxing (AD 1147), and passed away in the third year of Emperor Xiaozong's Chunxi (AD 1176) in the Southern Song Dynasty, at the age of 94, which can be described as a long life. It can be seen that although Duan Yu in history cannot be monopolized, he also spent his life peacefully and joyfully.
Duan Zhengyan is a wise and outstanding monarch in the history of Dali. He worked hard to govern and love the people during his reign, but he could not change the overall situation of Gao's dictatorship.

Duan Zhengyan is a generous and kind emperor. At that time, Gao Taiming's son Gao Zhichang was exiled for crime and died on the way. Gao Zhichang's subordinates Gao Yi and Gao He took advantage of Duan Zhengyan to enter the temple for incense, attempting to assassinate Duan Zhengyan to avenge Gao Zhichang. As a result, things came to light and both were arrested. However, Duan Zhengyan did not punish them, but released the two of them, and they seemed to set up a "Mound of Righteous Scholars" for them.
Later, the Gao clan split, and different forces supported Duan Zhengyan's sons. They smashed each other and killed each other. In the end, Duan Zhengxing, supported by Gao Liangcheng, won the victory. Duan Zhengyan was also exhausted and surrendered the throne to his son Duan Zhengxing. He shaved his hair as a monk, and became a monk at Wuwei Temple. He also ordered craftsmen to chisel the Arhat 500 and rebuild the Arhat Hall.
In 1176, the 94-year-old Duan Zhengyan passed away. After Duan Zhengyan's death, the temple was named Xianzong, the posthumous posthumous name Xuanren Emperor, and he was named Emperor Xuanren of Dali in history.

Finally, some people say that Duan Yu went to Lingyin Temple in Lin'an of the Great Song Dynasty after he became a monk. He punishes evil and promotes good, and helps the poor and the poor. He is called a holy monk. There are photos as proof:
