A few days later, Cixi invited Ci'an to the Changchun Palace where she was and took out a snack. Ci Guangxu's Baoan had the habit of eating snacks after waking up from a nap, so he ate the snacks and even said "Okay, good!" Cixi said it was from her family.
A few days later, Cixi sent someone to give Ci'an a snack, and poison was put in the snack. After eating a snack sent by Cixi, Ci'an suddenly died of abdominal pain and nausea. He was 45 years old.
