Mao Zedong and Yang Kaihui (hand-painted)
On November 14, 1930, Yang Kaihui died heroically in Changsha, only 29 years old. Before leaving the prison to go to the execution ground, Yang Kaihui took 8-year-old Mao Anying into his arms and whispered, "Strong5strong kid, if you can see Dad in the future, just say that I didn't do anything to sorry him, and that I miss him very much. I miss him very much. I can’t help him anymore, please take care. "Yang Kaihui was still blaming herself before she died, which shows how deep she felt for Mao Zedong.
In March 1982, Changsha City Changsha County Itakura, the local government repaired the former residence of Yang Kaihui. Workers found a manuscript wrapped in wax paper in a crack in the wall near the junction of the bedroom eaves beam frame and the bucket arch. When you open it, the manuscripts are neatly stacked, 12 pages, and a total of about 4000 words.
The 12-page manuscript is divided into four parts: 1 autobiographical prose, 2 poems, 2 essays, and 2 unposted letters. The manuscript was written from October 1928 to 1929. These manuscripts have never been discovered. Many of them are love letters. They were hidden in the wall by Yang Kaihui for 52 years, and Mao Zedong had been dead 6 years when they were discovered.
Coincidentally, when workers repaired the bedroom of Yang Kaihui’s former residence in August 1990, another four pages of manuscripts with more than 1,000 characters were found in the mud brick cracks on the back wall of the bedroom about two meters above the ground. This is 1930. Written by month, writing for the memory of Mao Zedong.
In this manuscript of more than 5,000 words, we see a loyal wife's endless yearning for her husband, the words are sincere, like weeping. After more than half a century, the sky reappears, and it has long since been wrong and it is still moving to read. One of the letters written on Mao Zedong’s birthday is the most representative. It is also a love letter, and it is even more teary to read:
... I can't sleep for a few days, anyway... I'm going crazy. I haven't received a letter for many days, waiting every day. Tears... I don't want to be so sad, the children will be sad with me, and the mother will be sad too. I think it’s so sad and lonely with Little Treasure in my stomach. It's so sad. I want to escape, but I have a few children, how can I... receive a valuable letter in the morning in fifty days. Even if he is dead, my tears will entangle his body. A month, a month, a half year, a year, or even three years...The previous events are tumbling in my mind, and I will assume the future.
He is lucky to get my love, I really love him very much! Not to abandon me, he must have his reason for not writing. Ordinary people also have this kind of emotion. Father's love is a mystery. Doesn't he think about his children? It is a tragedy and a good thing, because I can be an independent person.
I want to kiss him a hundred times, his eyes, his mouth, his cheeks, his forehead, his head, he is my person, he belongs to me!
... Oh my god, I don't worry about you! As long as you are good, whether you belong to me or not is second, God bless you. Today is your birthday. I must not forget him. I acted secretly to get my family to buy some vegetables and order a few bowls of noodles in the evening. Mom also remembered this date. Sleeping in the quilt at night, I felt sad again. I heard that you are sick, and it is because of your overwork... Without me by my side, you would not pay attention, you must be exhausted!
Where Yang Kaihui's manuscripts were found
Some people say that it would be great if Mao Zedong could see these manuscripts before his death, but history has no ifs. Yang Kaihui is the person Mao Zedong missed the most. The two went from meeting and falling in love to becoming a revolutionary partner for a lifetime. The two have lived together for only a short period of 7 years, and the stories they can leave are enough to touch countless people.
Yang Kaihui is the daughter of Mao Zedong’s mentor Yang Changji. She is 8 years younger than Mao Zedong. For Mao Zedong, Yang Changji admired him more and regarded him and Cai Hesen as his two most important students. Before Yang Changji passed away, he was still planning the future of Mao and Cai. He wrote to his friend Zhang Shizhao to recommend them: I solemnly Yujun, the second son of domestic talents, has a great future. If you don't say to save the country, you must first have two sons if you want to say to save the country.
Yang Changji did not misunderstand the wrong person, and Mao and Cai are both dragons and phoenixes. Perhaps it was his father who paid special attention to Mao Zedong, and Yang Kaihui chose Mao Zedong among many suitors.Regarding the time when Mao and Yang first met, it was about one day in the spring of 1914. Yang Kaihui first met after reading an article written by Mao Zedong.
In the spring of 1914, when Yang Kaihui was studying in the room, his father Yang Changji outside the house clapped and applauded. Out of curiosity, Yang Kaihui walked out of the room, and she saw her father holding a book of student notes, and she kept exclaiming in admiration. Yang Kaihui came to his father and asked, "Father, who wrote this note?"
Yang Changji closed the note and handed it to his daughter: "Look, this is the article! You have to study more, don't hide every day. In the room." Yang Kaihui took the notebook and saw the three characters "Lecture Records" written on the cover, and the signature "Mao Zedong" at the bottom. Flipping a few pages, Yang Kaihui was attracted by the content of the notes, and the idea of wanting to meet this person came up.
About a week later, Mao Zedong, Cai Hesen and others were invited to Yang Changji's home. As soon as the crowd arrived, the Yang family immediately became lively, and Yang Kaihui, who was reading in the study, walked out. Yang Changji immediately introduced to many students, "This is the little girl Kaihui, who is studying at home."
Young Mao Zedong
Yang Changji introduced the names of the students to his daughter one by one. When Mao Zedong was introduced, Yang Kaihui paid special attention to it. Mao Zedong was very tall and handsome. Since then, Mao Zedong often came to Yang Changji's home for advice. He and Yang Kaihui gradually became acquainted, but the relationship between the two did not improve.
In 1918, Yang Changji was hired as a professor at Peking University, and soon his family moved north. In August of that year, Mao Zedong also came to Beijing for a work-study program in France for a member of the Xinmin Society. Mao Zedong’s travel expenses in Beijing were borrowed. After he came to Beijing, he was penniless and temporarily moved into Yang Changji’s home.
Yang Changji saw Mao Zedong's embarrassment, so he arranged for him to work as an assistant administrator in the Peking University Library. The 18-year-old Yang Kaihui met Mao Zedong again, the seeds of love germinated, and they became lovers. At that time, couples were dating either walking down the road or going to the park to hang out.
Beijing’s winter is very cold, but Mao Zedong, who is shy in his pocket, is particularly excited. He wore a thick cotton-padded coat and walked the frozen North Sea, and was moved by the white plum blossoms. Then look at Yang Kaihui next to him, Mao Zedong is deeply happy. Many years later, Mao Zedong said to the American reporter Snow: "Strong5strong is here.I met and fell in love with Yang Kaihui. ”
In the spring of 1919, Mao Zedong was going back to Hunan. The reason was: Wen's mother was critically ill and had to rush back to serve. Only those who are passionately in love can truly understand the pain of separation. Just as Mao Zedong returned to Changsha, Yang Kaihui's letter arrived. In December of that year Mao Zedong led a delegation of Hunan expelled warlord Zhang Jingyao to Beijing again.
At this time, Yang Changji was seriously ill and was hospitalized. Mao Zedong hurried to the hospital. The teacher was obviously thinner, but he was still very happy to see Mao Zedong coming. At the same time. , Mao Zedong and Yang Kaihui, the lovers, met again in Beijing after more than half a year, and the long-depressed love sparks immediately burst out.
Yang Changji
Once, Yang Kaihui found that Mao Zedong’s shirt on the bamboo pole was broken, so He took it down and sewed him quietly. His mother Xiang Zhenxi had known that his daughter and Mao Zedong were very close, and now she was sewing clothes for him, and she informed Yang Changji. At that time, the disease was torturing Yang Changji, and he heard that the most important student, Mao Zedong, was coming together with her daughter. A smile appeared on his face.
Yang Changji knew that he had died soon, so he called Mao Zedong to the hospital, took out a pocket watch and gave it to him. Yang Changji said: "Runzhi, this pocket watch has followed me for many years. I will go to Japan and England. Wear it all the time, now I will give you a souvenir. We all know about you and Kaihui, and now I entrust her to you. Kaihui is young and naive, you have to take care of her more..."
In this way, the marriage of Mao Zedong and Yang Kaihui was settled before Yang Changji died of illness, and it was regarded as fulfilling his mentor's last wish. On January 17, 1920, Yang Changji passed away at the age of years. 49 years old. Mao Zedong is very sad. The funeral of his teacher is finished, and the coffin is ready to be transported back to Changsha Itakura for burial.
During the funeral, Mao Zedong received a letter from the Shanghai Xinmin Society informing him to come to Shanghai for a meeting. Mao Zedong was in a dilemma. If the teacher’s coffin was escorted, Mao Zedong was in a dilemma. Back to Hunan, it must be too late to attend the conference in Shanghai; if you arrive in Shanghai on time, you will not be able to escort the coffin to Changsha. Yang Changji has a great benevolence to Mao Zedong. If he does not escort the coffin back to Hunan, he will not bear it. Mao Zedong fell into anxiety. In a daze all day, Yang Kaihui saw all of this.
Yang Kaihui asked quietly: "Runzhi, do you have something on your mind? Why not say it,Maybe I can give you some advice? "Mao Zedong stopped talking, Yang Kaihui was a little angry and couldn't help crying. In front of him was his lover, what can't you say? Mao Zedong said his inner helplessness.
Yang Kaihui
Yang Kaihui listened , Immediately said: "Runzhi, you have been busy all day in father funeral, and it has been very hard. I remember that when my father was alive, he told me more than once that he must support your career. You would escort the coffin to Wuhan and then make a detour to Shanghai, so that neither side would be delayed.
Yang Kaihui was so considerate of himself, and Mao Zedong was very touched. After he escorted the coffin to Wuhan, he transferred to Shanghai. At the end of 1920, Mao Zedong and Yang Kaihui decided to get married. Everything was kept simple. The wedding room was rented. There was no sedan chair and no sedan chair. Fireworks. Mao Zedong spent 6 yuan to prepare a table of banquets and invited a few good friends, which is considered a wedding ceremony.
Mao Zedong’s business is too big and too busy, and he often has to go around. Put it now. Which wife can bear it, the noise must be inevitable. Yang Kaihui has no complaints, she has always followed Mao Zedong. In October 1922, the eldest son Mao Anying was born, and the birth of the son gave Mao Zedong great comfort.
Soon The second son Mao Anqing and the third son Mao Anlong were born one after another. When Yang Kaihui imagined a happy life for a family of five, she did not expect to be separated from her husband soon, and this separation would be a farewell. After the "August 7th Meeting" in 1927, Mao Zedong returned. I went to Hunan to lead the autumn harvest uprising of in the border region of Hunan and Jiangxi.
At that time, Hunan was caught in white terror, and Communists were arrested everywhere, especially the "Ma-Ri Incident" which caused serious damage to party organizations and workers and peasants' mass organizations. Yang Kaihui was born. Soon after Mao’anlong came down, it would be extremely dangerous if he took his three children to participate in the Autumn Harvest Uprising.
Mao Zedong decided to send his wife and children back to Itakura first, and led the Autumn Harvest Uprising on his own. One night at the end of August of that year, Mao Zedong would After his wife and children were safely delivered to Itacang, they took advantage of the night to say goodbye. At the time of parting, Mao Zedong embraced Yang Kaihui in his arms. His wife gave birth three times, but Mao Zedong was not around. This time the wife had just given birth and had not recovered yet. He was very guilty about leaving.
Mao Zedong and Yang Kaihui (hand-painted)
It’s been a long time,Mao Zedong said softly: "Strong5strong Xia, I'm sorry, this time I don't know when I will be back when I leave. In case I sacrifice, you don't have to be sad. Educate the three children to become talents and let them inherit my legacy. This way I will Smiling at Jiuquan. "
Yang Kaihui sobbed when she heard it. Even if there are ten thousand unwillingnesses, Yang Kaihui can't help her husband to leave, and she can't keep three children. Yang Kaihui insisted on going out to send Mao Zedong away, watching her husband's figure gradually disappear into the night, her eyes burst into tears again...
On the days of leaving her husband, Yang Kaihui took care of three children, quietly participated in various activities of the underground party organization, and tried everything possible. I was disappointed time after time to get news of Mao Zedong. It was not until more than 50 days later that Yang Kaihui received a secret letter in which Mao Zedong wrote: "Strong5strong did not lose money in business before, but now the business is much better and prosperous. "
Yang Kaihui is very clear about what her husband said in the letter. At that moment, she cried with joy, but when she thought of seeing her husband again, she became anxious again. As everyone knows, Yang Kaihui never received a letter from Mao Zedong since then. While waiting for her husband, Yang Kaihui wrote a lot of letters, but they couldn't send them out.
In front of his mother and children, Yang Kaihui strongly endured the sad emotions, but would hide in the blanket and cry when he was alone at night. Yang Kaihui’s younger brother Yang Kaiming said more than once: “, who can take my letter to him, and then bring me the letter, who is my benefactor. ”
Yang Kaihui has also passed the Changsha underground party comrades many times. He expressed his desire to go to the Soviet area to find Mao Zedong, but the party organization saw that she had three children. In addition, the Soviet area was fighting against "encirclement and suppression" and the enemy set up layers of blockades. This was too dangerous, so they tactfully rejected her.
Yang Kaihui's manuscript
Yang Kaihui continued to wait for Mao Zedong, never thinking that the danger would come first. In August 1930, following the withdrawal of the Red Army besieging Changsha, He Jian, commander of the "Devil Murder" and "Qingxiang" Headquarters, made a comeback and once again hunted and killed Communists and revolutionary masses all over Hunan. He also offered a reward of 1,000 Yuan to capture "Mao Zedong’s wife Yang."
On the evening of October 24, the spy Yu Lianshan, disguised as a small vendor, led more than 60 members of the "Qingxiang" team into the house of Yang of Itakura. Yang Kaihui and Mao Anying and the nanny Chen Yuying were arrested. This day was Mao Anying's 8th birthday. The three were taken to Changsha's Army Prison Office in Forbidden Bay.
Yang Kaizhi was very anxious when his sister was arrested. He immediately asked his father Yang Changji's former friends Zhang Shizhao, Cai Yuanpei, Tan Yankai and others for help. They jointly sent a letter to the Nanjing Kuomintang authorities to put pressure on the release of Yang Changji's daughter as soon as possible. Chiang Kai-shek Under the pressure of public opinion, he immediately called He Jian for leniency.
Ren Zhuoxuan thought of a move. He suggested to He Jian that if Yang Kaihui publicly declared that he was separated from Mao Zedong and "disclosed the crimes of the communists" in order to start a public opinion war, it would be a killer attack. Yang Kaihui is so clever and naturally understands He Jian’s tricks. She only said one sentence: "Strong5strong, I don’t want to die. I hope the revolution of Runzhi will succeed as soon as possible. "
Yang Kaihui also said: "Strong5strong, if you want to fight, you have to fight. Kill or kill! Let me break away from Mao Zedong, unless the sea is dry and the rocks are rotten, and the sun comes out from the west! "Since Mao Zedong left, Yang Kaihui has had a foreboding that this day might happen. She wrote in her letter to her younger brother: "I seem to have seen the god of death-well, his cold and solemn face! When it comes to death, I am not afraid of it, and it can be said that I am happy."
November 14, 1930, the last day of Yang Kaihui's life. In the morning, the military and police agents who executed the shooting came to the prison to pick up people. Both Yang Kaihui and Chen Yuying knew what was going to happen. Chen Yuying stood directly in front of Yang Kaihui and shouted at the executioner: "If you want to kill, kill me! Let Mr. Yang take her child back!"
Yang Kaihui and two sons
Where will the ferocious enemy listen to her? Mao Anying was so scared that she cried, Yang Kaihui bent down and hugged him, and said comfortingly: " dear child,If you see your father in the future, you will say that I miss him very much and I can't help him anymore. Please take care of him! "Chen Yuying also cried, and Yang Kaihui said again: "Sister-in-law, don't cry. You take An Ying back and live a good life, you will be safe.
In the morning, Yang Kaihui was taken to the Liziling execution ground outside Liuyang Gate for a shooting execution. The executioner fired two shots and did not die. He made another shot in the afternoon. He was 29 years old. After Yang Kaihui died, Mao Anying and Chen Yuying were in Yang Kaizhi, etc. He was rescued and released from prison.
A month later, when Mao Zedong was reading the Hunan newspaper, he accidentally saw reports of Yang Kaihui’s sacrifice. He was distraught. After 10 years of marriage, Yang Kaihui hardly had a peaceful day. She It was Mao Zedong's strong backing, but now he was sacrificed because of his husband. Mao Zedong was so guilty that he wrote to Yang Kaizhi immediately, saying, "The death of Kaihui cannot be redeemed." ”
In order to avoid being killed again, Mao Anying and his younger brothers Mao Anying and Mao Anyong were arranged by Mao Zemin to come to Shanghai and enter the "Datong Kindergarten" established by the CCP's peripheral organizations. Later, Mao Anlong's whereabouts were unknown (in other words, he died of illness). Gu Shunzhang After the mutiny, the identity of Datong kindergarten staff was exposed and they could only be evacuated urgently, while Mao Anying and Mao Anying lived on the streets of Shanghai. They were finally raised by the "red priest" Dong Jianwu and sent to the Soviet Union to live and study.
At the end of 1945, Mao Anying returned to . Yan'an , this is to see his father after 18 years of absence. Mao Anying described to his father in detail the situation with his mother in prison, and the words his mother asked him to bring to his father. At that moment, Mao Zedong's eyes were full of tears.

In early 1950, when Mao Zedong met Yang Kaihui's cousin Yang Kaiying in Beijing, he praised Yang Kaihui affectionately: " Your sister Xia had a child who sacrificed heroically by her side. It's rare! "In June 1957, Mao Zedong met Chen Yuying, the nanny of the year, in Beijing. After 30 years, he again asked Yang Kaihui about his arrest and the situation in prison.
At this time, 7 years have passed since Mao Anying's sacrifice. ,After listening to Chen Yuying’s detailed description, Mao Zedong said something tearful, "Strong5strong Kaihui is a good person! An Ying is a good man! The victory of the revolution was hard-won, so my family sacrificed six, some The whole family died. ”
