If the first generation of "Evil Spirits" is 8.5/10, then my rating for "Evil Spirits" is 7.2/10. This does not mean that "The Evil Spirit 2" is not fun. I can only say that in my experience after the play, the second generation did not leave me much impression, far less than the impact of the first generation.
I am a very unsmart player. How stupid can I be? For example, while playing Biochemistry 2RE, I bought an unlimited ammunition weapon pack after the chase was exhausted and my supplies, and then took a bazooka and knelt on the ground and blew it in the chase for ten minutes before releasing the depression I had previously suppressed. For example, the first generation of "The Evil Spirit" made me abandon the pit twice because the friendly villagers in the village warmly greeted me and scared me into a 150-pound big child several times. In fact, the third time I played the first generation level was because I used WEMOD in the second half. There was no other reason, it was just that I was too bored to listen to Debussy's Moonlight in a safe room.
Horror? No, this is the most terrifying.
If I simply say that "The Evil Spirits 2" is not scary at all, it will definitely be extremely irresponsible. It’s just that the first generation of pearls and jade is in front of it, the entire work of the second generation has basically been played by the first generation, and the plot is basically the same as rescuing the female knight from the fairy cave. However, if you want to talk about "The Evil Spirits 2", you cannot avoid comparison with the first generation. In my opinion, there are mainly the following factors.
Predictive advantages of game background
The first factor that attracted me at the beginning of the generation was the narrative method of the first generation of plots. Due to the lack of relevant information in the first week of the first generation, it is easy for players to preconceive their experience from the Lighthouse Mental Hospital as an indescribable change to the current world. Whether it is the migrated floor slab or the hellish crack slab, it further deepens players' understanding of world changes. Therefore, on the subsequent journey, they encountered various twisted creations created by the Devil's Hand, covering the shadow of terror again and again.
Second generation: As a sequel, players knew from the beginning that all this only happened in STEM. In fact, the production team admitted this very frankly from the beginning, which made even players who skip the first generation and play the second generation (should be) lose the tension of facing the fear of unknowns when exploring the truth in the fog. Of course, the second generation really has no choice. After all, it is unrealistic to hide the sequel, and the drilling pipe will be exposed sooner or later.
Survival fear that squeezes space
However, the root of the first generation of horror does not end there. Even when players gradually unlock the truth of STEM by collecting various newspapers and recordings, they are still afraid. This is the second factor in the success of the first generation: 3354 excellent level design. The linear map of the early generations gives players no room for maneuver, and it is very easy to fall into the situation of playing "Chasing and running away, you catch up with me and I let you hehe" with monsters, which makes people desperate. Second Generation: Actually, the comparison between "The Evil Spirit 2" and the first generation reminds me of the difference between "Zombie Force 4" and "Sniper Elite: Zombie Force Trilogy".
If players who have played these two games may understand what I mean, a big difference between "Zombie Force 4" and the trilogy is that there are many scenes in the trilogy. Returning to "The Evil Spirits 2", the same is true. Half-open map can circle monsters. After the other party lost his target, he walked back stupidly. Faced with the exposed back, it is difficult not to retaliate against its striking and assassination.
