Recently, Chengdu International Checkers Team head coach Gao Shengjian became the first international checkers senior coach in China. The 17th World Chess Championship will be held on October 23 in Malaysia . Gaoshengjian has recently become the first senior coach in China for international chess and international checkers. Gao Shengjian served as the coach of the Chengdu Chess Team from 1990 to 2008, and was promoted to senior coach in 2006. He has served as the head coach of the Chengdu Checkers Team since 2008. He also takes into account chess work, which can be called a "double gun general". Regarding these two projects, Gao Shengjian said, "I started learning chess at the age of 8 and have a complexity for chess. I am the men's personal champion in the first Chess Young Sprout Cup in Chengdu. After shifting the focus of work to international checkers in 2008, I was not very adapted to this emerging project at the beginning. As a group of chess players such as Zhou Wei, I gradually gained a sense of accomplishment." As the only "double high school coach" in China, Gao Shengjian said, "There are too many coaches who are smarter than me and talented than me, and I just persisted." In addition, Chengdu's first international checkers youth team was established recently, with a total of ten players in the first batch, and Gao Shengjian will also serve as the head coach of the youth team at the same time.
