Chinese food legends are mostly related to the emperor, and Qucun Black Beef is no exception.

Qucun black beef originated from the Gaojia family in Hancun, Qucun Township, and was called Gaojia beef at that time. The Qucun Black Beef brand was formally established in the mid-Ming Dynasty and became famous at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. After more than 500 years, the quality is better.

According to legend, in the Qing Xianfeng period, Emperor Xianfeng, who was tired of eating all kinds of flavors in the palace, heard that the beef from the Gao family in Qucun was delicious, so he ordered the imperial dining room and bought beef from the Gao family in Qucun. After eating it, Emperor Xianfeng praised it and said, "It's really delicious!" The day after Xianfeng ate Gaojia beef, he still felt unhappy. So, he told the imperial dining room again that he still wanted to eat Gaojia beef. But the imperial city is thousands of miles away from Puyang Gaojia, how can I buy it immediately? It was midsummer again, and the beef left over from the day before yesterday was already covered with white hair. When the royal chef picked it up and smelled it, the smell remained the same; when the white hair was wiped off, the color remained bright. The imperial chef cut it and served it to Xianfeng on a plate. After Xianfeng ate it, he was still full of praise. Longyan Dayue wrote “Qixiangbawei” along with his pen and gave the imperial plaque and named it Qucun Black Beef. Since then, the black beef in Puyangqu Village has become a tribute, and is well-known in the court and the public. To this day, the black beef in Puyangqu Village is still a delicacy in people's lives, a healthy and nourishing meal.
