There is a joke that once we Chinese take action, the sky-high-priced products in the West will become cabbage prices in a few years.
For example, when diamonds are in the hands of the people of Henan, their prices have dropped by 80%. Another example is mobile phones. After being copied by China, most foreign mobile phones disappeared.
Norwegian salmon was once popular in China, and the price of 80-100 yuan per pound made people want to stop. But this situation is not expected to last long, because the freshwater salmon raised by the Chinese themselves has come out!
On the first day of 2023, ICBG launched the first domestic version of salmon- rainbow trout .
Rainbow trout is rich in nutrients and delicious. It is known as "water ginseng" and has high economic value. It sells for 30 to 50 yuan per catty. Rainbow trout is a high-end fish species.
This kind of fish belongs to the same category as salmon, and the fish quality and appearance are relatively similar.
The meat of rainbow trout is indistinguishable from salmon unless you look closely.
Rainbow trout is a fish with high economic value. Its meat is fresh and tender, delicious, no fishy smell, and has small bone spurs. No need to scrape the scales when eating. Rainbow trout meat is rich in unsaturated fatty acids and amino acids , which is beneficial to human body absorption and nutritional balance. Among them, unsaturated fatty acids can prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases. They are also essential nutrients for the growth of the brain, retina and nervous system, and play an important role in the brain development of fetuses and young children. At the same time, unsaturated fatty acids can also effectively resist chronic diseases, diabetes .
Rainbow trout meat has less fat than salmon and is slightly harder.
The fresh red meat of rainbow trout is sweet and delicious. It is called the "king of fish". It tastes better whether eaten raw or smoked, so it is very popular in the market. Rainbow trout eggs are as big as soybeans and are rich in highly unsaturated fatty acids and egg protein. They are a world-renowned high-end nutritional food.
The popularity of rainbow trout started with the cooking of fish in Japan.
Rainbow trout immigrated to Japan from North America in 1877; in January 1945, Japan imported 60,000 fertilized eggs each to the Stadium Fish Farm in North Pyongan Province and Cheongpyeong Fish Farm in Gyeonggi Province. In 1948, the Freshwater Fish Research Institute of the Ministry of Fisheries of North Korea took over the Stadium Fish Farm, and artificial hatching was successful the following year.
In 1959, the mayor of Pyongyang, North Korea, sent a batch of rainbow trout to the mayor of Beijing, Peng Zhen, which was already cultured in Heilongjiang and other places; later, artificial hatching was also successful in Taiyuan in 1980. Now they are distributed in Beijing, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Liaoning, Jilin and other provinces.
Rainbow trout have an extremely lively temperament and can jump to take bait. They feed on terrestrial insects, aquatic invertebrates and other small fish. The larval stage of rainbow trout mainly feeds on zooplankton, benthic animals and aquatic insects . Adult fish feed on fish, crustaceans, shellfish and terrestrial and aquatic insects, and also eat leaves and seeds of aquatic plants.
Rainbow trout farming requires fresh water quality, high dissolved oxygen , and a water environment with micro-flowing water. When cultivating rainbow trout, micro-flow water is injected into the pond every day to increase dissolved oxygen in the water and prevent the occurrence of floating heads . In terms of management, it is first necessary to maintain sufficient water volume and set up oxygenation equipment. Once oxygen is lacking, it should be replenished immediately. In July and August when the temperature is relatively high, well water is regularly added at noon every day. Set up a shade shed over the pond to lower the water temperature. The pond water temperature is controlled to not exceed 22°C all year round. It likes to live in low water temperatures of 8-18 degrees, and it also has requirements for water speed, so the breeding conditions are harsh.
At present, Gansu is the most successful place for breeding in China. This is related to the conditions of cold water resources. In April 1977, the Gansu Provincial Fisheries Research Institute introduced rainbow trout from Shanxi Province for the first time and successfully cultured it at the Maqu fishery in Gannan Prefecture. Rainbow trout has developed rapidly in the province. Yongchang County of Jinchang City and Yongdeng County of Lanzhou City have become the province's rainbow trout breeding bases. Their output accounts for more than 80% of the province's output, becoming a pillar industry in local rural areas. By the end of 1998, the province's breeding area reached 16.2 hectares, and the output reached 789 tons. Rainbow trout production accounts for 8.2% of the province's total aquatic product production, and its breeding scale is the largest in the country. The products are sold to Qinghai, Shaanxi and other provinces. In 1997, rainbow trout was identified by the provincial government as the best agricultural product in the province.
Liujiaxia Reservoir is an important large-scale reservoir on the upper reaches of the Yellow River. The reservoir area was built in 1974. It has a water area of more than 130 square kilometers and a total water storage capacity of 5.7 billion m3, which contains abundant cold water resources. Liujia Gorge is located in a high mountain canyon, where clear water from the upper reaches of the Yellow River gathers, forming the famous "Pearl of the Plateau" in China. In order to make good use of this clear water, rainbow trout were introduced to the local area from Yongdeng County, Gansu Province in the late 1990s. The net cage output once reached 10,000 kilograms per mu. Today, Liujiaxia's rainbow trout has become a major local specialty and occupies a place in the national market.
In the past 30 years, rainbow trout have not only established a firm foothold in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, but also bloomed everywhere. In the upper reaches of Liujia Gorge, there are reservoirs such as Gongboxia, Lijiaxia, Laxiwa, Longyangxia, and downstream there are Yanguoxia, Bapanxia and other reservoirs. These reservoirs are also suitable for the growth of rainbow trout. Various canyons and reservoirs are connected together to form the largest rainbow trout base in the northwest, with significant characteristics and advantages.

There is a large-scale rainbow trout breeding base in Xiaogan, , close to Huangpi, Wuhan City. It introduced fish eggs from Denmark, overcame difficulties such as acclimatization and soil acclimatization, and successfully realized the trial breeding of rainbow trout in a factory.
In 2017, Wuhan began artificial factory farming of rainbow trout, Sanfeng Ecological Fishery Technology Co., Ltd., located at the Huashichong Reservoir in Xiaogan, Xiaochang, the person in charge was Wu Gang. He introduced machinery to pump water from deep wells and used chillers to cool the water. The deep water in Xiaochang Huashichong Reservoir has a water temperature of about 11°C throughout the year. Rainbow trout can be cultured by pumping out the bottom water in the reservoir. In spring, summer and autumn, as long as the water is slightly adjusted, the water temperature can reach 16°C to 18°C. Let nature take its course in the winter and let the fish slow down their growth. Moreover, there is a large piece of flat land under the reservoir dam, which is suitable for building a production workshop, and the road and electricity are smooth.
Factory design The annual breeding scale of rainbow trout is 1 million catties. In order to save water resources, the base uses circulating water for high-density breeding. A barrel holds 8 cubic meters of water and can raise more than 1,000 kilograms of fish. According to estimates, using circulating water aquaculture, the base can achieve a production of 1 million kilograms, using 300,000 to 400,000 cubic meters of water a year. Rainbow trout can grow to 6 kilograms to 8 kilograms. The production cycle of and is generally two and a half to three years, but for factory bases, the cycle is shortened to one and a half to two years.
How long can Norwegian salmon stay popular?
I believe that in the near future, Hubei diners will be able to eat salmon produced by themselves at a low price! It’s hard to say whether Norway’s salmon will be the only fish to show off by then.
