The specialty food in our hometown is Ma Yizi. When I was a child, I could only watch the portions I drool when I saw other children eating.

Because my family had many poor sisters at that time, my parents were worried about our sisters’ meals a day, so they had money to buy snacks for us to eat.

The first time I ate Ma Yiji was when I was seven years old. My cousin got engaged and my aunt gave me a pack of Ma Yiji to my house. My mother was afraid that my sisters would snatch it and fight, so she gave each of them one and hid the rest.

I took the Ma Yilizi and sniffed it with my nose and licked a little of the candy on the Ma Yilizi and licked it with my tongue, which was fragrant and sweet, so delicious.

I took that little Ma Yizi next to the haystack on the drying ground of the production team, and slowly ate the Ma Yizi bit by bit. It was like eating delicacies from mountains and seas, with endless aftertaste. I feel so happy that I can eat such delicious food.

When I grew up, I went to a technical secondary school and stayed away from my hometown after graduation. However, every time I went home, I would sell a few packs of maijizi to take away. Every time I ate maijizi, I would remember the sweetness and fragrance of the maijizi that my mother gave us when I was a child, but now I can no longer taste the taste of that time.
