Household Wind Power Forum (WFO) stated that 6759 MW of offshore wind capacity was put into operation in the first half of 2022, compared with 1627 MW in the same period last year.
and said that this growth was mainly driven by China, which installed 5.1 GW of new offshore wind capacity in the first half of 2022.
According to the report, by the end of June 2022, the global installed capacity of offshore wind power will reach 54.9 GW.
In the first half of 2022, 33 new offshore wind farms were put into operation around the world, which means that all fans have been hoisted and achieved the first power generation. Among them, 25 were installed in China; 25 were installed in , Vietnam, 1 in the UK, South Korea, and Italy each. .
WFO said that so far, China has expanded its position as the world's largest offshore wind market with an installed capacity of 24.9GW, surpassing the sum of the United Kingdom (13.6GW), Germany (7.7GW) and the Netherlands (3GW).
Currently, China's installed offshore wind power capacity accounts for 45% of the total offshore wind power capacity in the world.
According to WFO, China is also in the leading position in terms of the offshore wind farm under construction (the first offshore wind power foundation installed).
China's offshore wind power industry continues to grow, with the total capacity under construction currently being 3195 MW. Taiwan Province, China ranks second with a total capacity under construction of 2,505 megawatts. Netherlands ranked third with a capacity under construction of 2259 MW. The UK and France followed closely behind, ranking fourth and fifth with 1590 MW and 1473 MW of under-construction capacity respectively.
After two years of no offshore wind power construction activities, Germany launched the offshore construction project of two projects with a total capacity of 599 MW. Gunnar Herzig, general manager of
WFO, said: "Although China is significantly leading the growth of offshore wind power globally, it is very good to see more and more countries in the world invest in offshore wind power. As an industry, the more international it is, the more it is, the more it is. Can withstand economic turmoil. WFO will continue to work hard to promote offshore wind power around the world. "
