In the early 1980s, the strategy of integrating the Yangtze River Delta region began to be proposed. After more than 40 years of transition and deepening, the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region has officially become a national strategy.
In terms of economic volume, the Yangtze River Delta accounts for a quarter of the national total. However, in the past ten years, the performance of the Yangtze River Delta region in the capital market has not been outstanding, and it is obviously not worthy of its geographical location and industrial foundation.
In May 2010, the " Yangtze River Delta Regional Plan" officially approved and implemented by the state defined the scope of the Yangtze River Delta as Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, clarifying the strategic positioning of the development of the Yangtze River Delta region. It is an important international gateway in the Asia-Pacific region. It is an important global modern service industry and advanced manufacturing center, and a world-class city cluster with strong international competitiveness.
By 2014, my country began to rely on the golden waterway to promote the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. In order to promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and create an internationally competitive world-class urban agglomeration, the Yangtze River Delta plan clarified for the first time that Anhui, as part of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration , will participate in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
In November 2018, the country proposed the establishment of a more effective new mechanism for coordinated regional development. Among them, it is clearly required to lead the development of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration with Shanghai as the center and drive the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Among the nine major national central cities , only one of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomerations was shortlisted, Shanghai.
At the beginning of 2019, all 16 cities in Anhui have fully joined the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, including the northern Anhui region. At the same time, the outline of the Yangtze River Delta regional integrated development plan was officially issued, and the planning scope covers all the four provinces and cities of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Shanghai. In terms of planned area, the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration is six times that of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Local scholars pointed out that Shanghai Port ranks first in the world in container throughput and second in cargo throughput. The container throughput of Ningbo Zhoushan Port ranks third in the world and the cargo throughput ranks first in the world. Such port resources are a natural advantage for establishing a free trade port. Once formed, it will be an important carrier for the integration of the Yangtze River Delta.
In the past ten years, strategies such as the rise of central China, the development of the western region, the integrated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have emerged one after another. As the leader in regional development in our country, the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration can only give up development opportunities to other brothers for the time being.
Last year, the concept of common prosperity was proposed, which also slowed down the pace of the Yangtze River Delta. From the perspective of the capital market, more funds are pouring into large consumer areas, such as liquor and new energy vehicles. Relatively speaking, the concept of region is gradually weakening.
In recent years, there has indeed been a lot less news about the development of Shanghai. On the contrary, Hangzhou is somewhat confident. In fact, Nanjing's average growth rate in the past ten years has been at the leading level in the country, Suzhou is also slowly strengthening its technological and private strength. It is worth pointing out that Hefei is also slowly rising and becoming a key node in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.
As you can tell, the Yangtze River Delta has been really low-key for many years. Whether it is the transfer of policies or the transfer of finance and taxation, they have made great contributions to the overall development of our country.
The latest seven census data show that the population of major central cities in the Yangtze River Delta is increasing rapidly. After the fourth economic census, the economic aggregates of various regions in the Yangtze River Delta have been appropriately increased. The development of all parts of our country is cyclically recovering and moving forward. We believe that the Yangtze River Delta will rise again in the future!
