Recently, Hong Kong artist Guan Baohui revealed his experience of encountering fraud on social platforms. She instantly lost five digits and immediately called the police to deal with it. Afterwards, she shared this experience to remind more netizens not to be deceived.
Guan Baohui posted a photo of herself in the police station and left a message saying: I was so angry during the report. I pretended to be a express delivery online to cheat money. Everyone must be careful. It turns out that if the delivery failed, I would never use the SMS notification and then fill in the Form, and then charge the shipping fee.
. After Guan Baohui shared this experience, Hong Kong media also learned about the details of the matter from Guan Baohui as soon as possible. She generously shared her experience, hoping to be wary of everyone being deceived as a person who has experienced it.
Guan Baohui said that she bought about HK$1,000 in nutritional health products on a US website for the first time more than ten days ago, and the goods will take about 4 to 6 weeks to deliver.
However, Guan Baohui suddenly received a text message recently, pointing out that the delivery failed the day before, and a link was also displayed in the text message to ask Guan Baohui to register again.
Guan Baohui saw that there was a number of her purchases on the link, but she did not carefully check her orders, and she did not know what kind of transportation it would be delivered.
So Guan Baohui didn't think much about it, thinking that the things he bought were delivered early, so he clicked in the link displayed in the text message.
She said: The delivery time inside is so neat. Starting from September 22, I don’t know how to track it down. Until the 28th, I said I would like to fill in my name, address, and phone number from scratch.
When Guan Baohui wanted to learn more, her mobile phone screen jumped to another web page that pretended to be an internationally renowned express company.
When Guan Baohui fills out all his personal information, the system informs the goods will be delivered on the next working day, but because of this situation, there will be an extra charge of US$12.277.
, and Guan Baohui did not see clearly whether this 12.277 was paid in US dollars or Hong Kong dollars. When Guan Baohui successfully paid with a credit card, she received a text message from her credit card, indicating that Guan Baohui had a transaction of US$12,277.
When she saw the text message, Guan Baohui could be said to have widened her eyes instantly. She was still wondering if she had made a mistake in this. Then after calling the credit card center to confirm, she found that it was indeed deducted US$12,277.
At this time, Guan Baohui realized that she had been deceived, and the credit card center immediately stopped using the credit card for Guan Baohui, and then went to the police station to report the case.
After Guan Baohui came to the police station to report the case, the police also bluntly stated that this kind of fraud occurred every day. At the same time, the police also reminded Guan Baohui that even if he did not receive the package, there must be a way to contact him on his own initiative. It will not be a text message for no reason to give you a link to provide you with information.
Afterwards, Guan Baohui called the credit card center to check again. The credit card center revealed that the "scammer" is an Egyptian company, which is specially used for fraud.
. Guan Baohui shared this matter, and wanted more people to be careful of the scam, especially for example, Guan Baohui was deceived this time. The URL she logged in was very similar, and it was difficult for ordinary citizens to discover it.
As for Guan Baohui, she happened to be waiting for the package, and she encountered such a text message, in this case, it was very easy for the scammer to succeed.
