One day in 2001, before dawn, Zhang Yugun set off from the Black Tiger Temple. In order not to come back too late on that day, he had to do so. The destination is Xinhua Bookstore in Gaoqiu Town, with a straight line distance of about 20 kilometers. But it takes at least 30 kilometers to turn the mountain road east and west, up and down.
· Heihu Temple Primary School is about 20 kilometers straight from the bookstore in the town.
Not to mention the rugged mountain roads, it is not easy to pass through so many ditches, depressions, ridges, slopes and bays, so it is not easy to ensure that you don’t get lost.
He held a flashlight in his hand and a shoulder pole on his shoulder. The trip was quite smooth, and I arrived in town at noon. But this is a bit late. According to this calculation, even if you take the same time as when you come, it will be too late to return to school, not to mention that you have to carry dozens of kilograms of heavy objects on the return trip.
At noon, he didn't eat, so he went straight to the bookstore, bought textbooks and teaching aids, put them in a woven bag, hung them at both ends of the shoulder pole, and walked back quickly. On the way back, he started chewing the lunch he brought from his home - steamed buns.
This is the first time Zhang Yugun has carried a shoulder pole, and he is not skilled yet. Sometimes the woven bag in front of the shoulder pole hit the ground, and sometimes the one behind hit the ground again.

His name was originally "Zhang Yufeng". In his hometown, , Zhenping County, many people are engaged in jade processing, which is called the "Hometown of Jade Carving". Jade wool is a hard jade artifact. Parents hope that their son is as strong and healthy as jade wool.
But at this time, his legs became a little weak and there were a lot of blisters on his feet. He couldn't walk anymore, so he found a stone nest (a small cave) and crawled in. He thought, "Let's go again at dawn."
At this time, he thought of the students who longed for knowledge and the old principal's instructions.

4 of the only 6 teachers in Heihu Temple Primary School are facing retirement. The location is remote and the transportation is inconvenient, and no one is willing to be a teacher. If you can't find a new teacher, these children in the mountains will be unsustainable in their studies. Zhang Yugun is one of the few top students in the village. The old principal is eager to seek talent and visits the cottage three times, and he is hard to help.
That year, Zhang Yuguen had just graduated from Nanyang Normal University. He was born in 1980 and was 21 years old. At this age, who doesn’t want to go to the world to explore? What's more, he is still a young man who finally got the exam from the mountains? He wanted to find a good job in big cities.
But when he saw the children in Heihu Temple Primary School in his hometown, his heart became much softer. These children are no different from when they were in school here.The mountains are already poor and backward. If the basic education is cut off again, it will be difficult to have any hope.
Zhang Yuguen thought when he was a child: "We must walk out of the mountains in the future." Now, why don't the children in school think so?
He decided to give it a try, so he took the shoulder pole from the old principal and the old teacher.
Thinking of this, for the sake of personal safety, and for the safety of textbooks and teaching aids, Zhang Yu rolled in the stone nest and did not sleep all night, and only rushed back to school the next morning.
Zhang Yuguan connects the children in the mountains and the outside world with a shoulder pole. In 2006, the village opened up highways. The school bought a motorcycle and the shoulder pole was off.

Hihumiao Village has more than 1,300 people, and has 13 natural villages under its jurisdiction. It is scattered in the valley with a radius of nearly 20 kilometers. It is very inconvenient to go back and forth, and some parents even let their children drop out of school.
In 2009, a girl from Juhuachang Village north of the school reached the age of school, but could not go to school. Juhuachang Village is about 20 miles away, and you have to cross mountains and hills when you come to school. The girl's parents died early, and she lived with her third uncle and lived on the highest point of the mountain, making life very difficult.
Zhang Yugun used the weekend to visit his home. The "conditions" are: the child and the female teacher eat and live together, and the cost is borne by the teacher. The girl went to school now.
In recent years, he has used his meager income to fund more than 300 children, and has not allowed a student to drop out of school due to poverty.
The situation of each child’s family, such as where to live, which child’s grandparents need to be taken care of when they are older, and who needs to be picked up and dropped off at school... Zhang Yugou knows it very well.
· Zhang Yugou had a meal with the students.
One summer, Zhang Yugun was on duty at school. One morning, it suddenly started to rain heavily. He quickly got up, put on his raincoat and ran out quickly. He knew that a student's house had been in disrepair for a long time and might not withstand such heavy rain. If he went too late, his child's life might be in danger.
When he arrived at the student's house, the house had collapsed more than half, and the rain in the house was about to pass the head of the bed, and the child and grandfather were curled up on the bed. He quickly picked up the child, carried his grandfather on his shoulders, and moved them to a safe area.
At this time, Zhang Yugun felt a little hurt in his right foot. I raised my foot and saw that I was scratched at some point and blood was flowing.
One day, at around 10 o'clock in the evening, Zhang Yugun was correcting his homework when he suddenly received a call from a student's grandfather saying that the child had not arrived home yet.
Zhang Yughang hung up the phone, picked up the flashlight, called his wife Zhang Huiyun, and hurried out to look for it. After walking seven or eight miles, they found the child sleeping on the side of the road.
"The child is too tired to leave." Zhang Yugun said to his wife. They did not wake up the child. That night, the couple took turns carrying the child for an hour and sent the child home safely.
One autumn, Zhang Yugun rode a motorcycle to the town to do business. At a sharp turn, the motorcycle failed to brake and hit a large rock. The car overturned, and he fainted and almost fell off the cliff. Fortunately, some passers-by discovered him and sent him to the hospital for emergency treatment.
But just a few days after he was hospitalized, he rushed back to school and stood on the podium with his wife's help. Looking at Teacher Zhang and Principal Zhang who were wrapped in gauze on the podium, the children in the mountains were crying.
Children in the mountains are the motivation
Due to inconvenient transportation, many students in Heihu Temple Primary School eat and live in the school. This requires someone to cook for the children.But there are not enough teachers in the school, so where does the chef come from?
Zhang Yugun thought of his wife Zhang Huiyun. She was originally a carpet worker in the town and could earn more than 1,000 yuan a month, which was much more than Zhang Yugun, so she was reluctant to come to the school to help the kitchen.
This time it’s Zhang Yu’s turn to soften and hard. After his repeated persuasion, his wife finally agreed.
In the autumn of 2006, the school had just started, and some new students came and were missing textbooks. Since school just started and there were a lot of things in the school, Zhang Yu really couldn't take time, so he asked his wife to go to the town to buy books.
In this way, no one took care of his 9-month-old daughter at home, so Zhang Huiyun had to take a farm tricycle from the neighboring village and carry her daughter with her. On the way back, when I was about to arrive at school, the tricycle had an accident and rolled down the mountain. Zhang Yugun heard the crying sound and ran up the mountain. When he arrived at the scene, a man walked up from the bottom of the mountain, held a child and said, "The child's heart has stopped beating..."
This child is Zhang Yugou's daughter. He took his daughter, who was still warm, squatted on the ground, looking at his wife with blood on the side of the road, unable to say a word.
Later, my wife said, don’t teach anymore. Zhang Yugun was also shaken.
Teachers and parents come to visit the couple one after another. Some parents even brought their children together: "Principal Zhang, if you don't teach, what will the children do?"
Zhang Yugun discussed with his wife for several discussions, but he still returned to school.
They didn't expect that one day an accident happened again. When the
Zhang Huiyun was rolling the noodles, the four fingers of the right hand were folded by the machine, and blood flowed out. When she arrived at County Hospital , she had missed the best time for treatment and was disabled.
However, this did not stop her from returning to school. She used her left hand to cook and cook for the students. When she saw a stranger, she quietly hid her right hand behind her.
"After so many years, the biggest motivation is the children in the mountains." Zhang Yugun said.

For the sake of the children in the mountains, Zhang Yugou brought his nephew Zhang Lei, who had already worked in Shenzhen after graduating from college, back to the village to teach, and his nephew's girlfriend Yu Chaofeng also followed him. Fortunately, the relationship between the two young people has become even sweeter because of teaching and is now a couple.
Zhang Yugun taught at Heihu Temple Primary School, only one college student had walked out of the village. After he joined the company, 63 college students came out, including 3 graduate students.
Think about this, and he said that the blood, sweat and tears shed in his early years were worth it.

Zhang Yugun was once a general teacher of and taught everything. He found the most difficult thing to teach was science classes. "The students can't feel the knowledge in the textbook and don't understand it." Zhang Yugun took the children to nature to teach, explain flowers, leaves, etc. Therefore, science classes are also the most interesting lessons for children.
