Unrolling the long scroll, rare birds in the Yangtze River Basin such as the Chinese Merganser, Golden Pheasant , and black storks appear on the paper, forming an intuitive, complete, and accurate map of endangered birds for ecological protection in the Yangtze River.
During his undergraduate studies, Wang Dongyun’s favorite course was the flower and bird course. Naturally, he made bird painting the content of his undergraduate graduation project. Seeing the birds and hearing their chirping brings back memories of his childhood joy.

When you wake up in the morning, you will hear birds chirping in your ears. It feels like there is an echo surrounding you, washing your ears every day.
Armed with a paintbrush, a pair of observation eyes and a series of footprints walking in nature, this handsome, quiet young man began his journey of painting birds.
At first, Wang Dongyun did not think of getting involved in rare birds. There are many sparrows, magpies, etc. in traditional Chinese flower and bird paintings, and he also created many. But in his fourth year of undergraduate studies, his advisor helped him identify the theme of painting rare birds in the Yangtze River Basin.

By the time he graduated as an undergraduate, he had painted 50 birds. Later, he was recommended to the school to continue his master's degree. With more time, he wanted to continue to expand his "territory" in the world of bird painting.

The 50 types of undergraduate paintings were combined with the 50 types of paintings during graduate school to combine them into 100 types.
Paintbrush as a matchmaker, hoping to awaken more people to protect nature
Wang Dongyun said that some people think "painting birds" is boring, but he persisted in it and he thought it was cool.
He also hopes to use this intuitive "portrait" form to let more people know about the endangered birds in the Yangtze River Basin and awaken more people's awareness of conservation.
For Wang Dongyun, mastering the morphological characteristics of birds is the most difficult part of the creative process, and understanding different types of birds is a brand new course for him. Therefore, whenever he has free time, Wang Dongyun will go out to collect pictures. He will first use sketch to capture the forms of birds when they are hunting, flying or perching. After returning to the dormitory, he will read books, watch videos and consult professionals, striving to make the modeling characteristics of the birds more intuitive, accurate and rigorous.
Teacher He Guangqing said that Wang Dongyun was "already considered a semi-expert". By the time he had painted 50 birds, he was already familiar with many birds.
