Kashgar In 1982, it took the lead in carrying out the "National Unity Education Month" activity in Xinjiang. On April 30 of the same year, Kashgar prefectures and cities jointly held a mobilization meeting for the "Ethnic Unity Education Month", and the meeting called on all localities to actively participate in the "Both Month" activities of ethnic policies and ethnic unity education carried out in May and June.
On November 10, 1982, the autonomous region held the first commendation meeting for advanced collectives and advanced individuals in ethnic unity and progress. At the meeting, all representatives issued the "Initiative" to cadres and masses of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang proposed that strengthening ethnic unity education should be regarded as an important content of the construction of socialist spiritual civilization in the autonomous region, and May of each year should be regarded as the "National Unity Education Month".
On December 29, 2009, the 16th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 11th People's Congress of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reviewed and passed the "Regulations on Ethnic Unity Education in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region", which is the first local regulations on strengthening ethnic unity education in my country, clarifying the social responsibility, principles and relevant legal responsibilities of ethnic unity education. This Regulations shall come into force on February 1, 2010. Article 26 of the Regulations stipulates that May of each year is the "Ethnic Unity Education Month" of the autonomous region.
On December 29, 2015, the 20th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th People's Congress of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region passed the "Regulations on Ethnic Unity and Progress in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region".
