It is said that photos of NVIDIA's upcoming mid-range GPU GeForce RTX 4070 have been posted online. The account named Moore's Law is Dead posted a photo showing an unreleased RTX 4070 graphics card. The design of fan blades is consistent with the RTX 4090/4080 series. However, unlike the AD102/AD103 GPU, this card seems to be much thinner, almost certainly a double slot height.
Nvidia previously announced that only RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 16GB will be available in the Founder Edition (i.e. the public Edition), while RTX 4080 12GB will be available to partners to produce exclusive SKUs.
Interestingly, both the RTX 4080 12GB and the RTX 4070 are expected to use the same GPU, which is the Ada AD104.
This design may use a V-shaped PCB, which will be a new approach compared to the Ampere RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3070 GPUs, which have a simple rectangular board design that was later adopted by multiple board partners.
We are now seeing leaks like this, because according to recent rumors, the RTX 4070 has been postponed to early release in Q1 2023. Nvidia has changed the specifications and schedules of its RTX GPUs multiple times, however, so it would be surprising if the castrated AD104 GPU debuted at the end of the fourth quarter.
