In July this year, Xiaomi and Leica jointly released the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. After a lot of discussion, the two teams put forward a very crazy idea: bravely explore the boundaries between mobile images and professional images, install Leica's M series camera lens on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra to make a Xiaomi 12S Ultra concept machine.
Xiaomi and Leica engineers reached a consensus on the solution: this concept phone must retain all the functions of a flagship phone, but it must be given a hidden identity. The moment the camera is twisted, it will be transformed into a professional imaging device! The moment it twisted on the lens, the second built-in direct light sensor of the phone started working. With the f/1.4 lens, the amount of light input increased by 1 times compared to the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, greatly improving the shooting ability of the phone and achieving ultra-high-quality blockbusters that could not be taken before.
The implementation of the entire solution is a very complicated process. After many days of discussion and practice, Xiaomi came up with a key solution:
re-layout the structure of Xiaomi 12S Ultra camera, and an additional second direct light one-inch sensor is added to the center! In order to complete the re-layout, Xiaomi adjusted the internal structure of the 12S Ultra, moved the ultra-wide-angle camera downward and gave way, ensuring that the one-inch sensor is in the center.
In addition, Xiaomi optimized the circuit to greatly reduce the area of its motherboard and raised it with a characteristic bracket to provide heat dissipation for the sensor; the sealing between the sensor and sapphire glass is enhanced, and the whole machine is still dust-proof and water-proof. The installation method of the lens is the same as that of the camera. It is completed with one twist and one card. The overall structure of the concept machine is strengthened again compared to before. The square and circular structure of the protective lens module is completely redesigned, and it is replaced by a child screw directly fixed to the middle frame of the entire machine. It can easily withstand the weight of the external lens and be stable and not shaken. The flange distance between the connecting bayonet is only 2mm, and it can be used to adapt the Leica M series lens at will using the adapter ring .
In software, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra concept machine supports common tools such as peak focus, zebra crossings, and histograms, and can shoot 10bit RAW format files.
