Lifan recalls more than 3,000 pure electric vehicles, ahead of total sales in May - DayDayNews

The power battery may catch fire.

The reporter noticed from the announcement that this Lifan recall was from December 11, 2017 to December 31, 2018 Some of the Lifan 650EV300 pure electric vehicles produced in Japan total 3,651 units. There are three main reasons for the recall: 1. During the manufacturing process, there is interference in the distribution of the high-voltage wiring harness inside the power battery pack, which may cause the insulation layer to wear and short-circuit in the subsequent use process; 2. There is a risk of loosening of the battery pack bus copper bar connection screw ; 3. The charging temperature threshold of the power battery pack is set too high, and there is a certain safety risk in the case of using fast charging for a long time. Due to the above reasons, the power battery pack may have thermal runaway and fire risks in extreme cases, and there may be safety hazards.

In response, Chongqing Lifan Passenger Cars will take the following measures for vehicles within the recall range free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards. 1. Improve the bolt fixing method of the busbars and increase the thread glue to prevent loosening; 2. Check the high-voltage wiring harness in the battery pack, replace the aging and worn wiring harness and adjust the wiring harness layout; 3. Check the battery module to ensure the quality Replace hidden modules; 4. Upgrade the BMS software of the battery management system and improve the charging strategy; 5. Check the battery pack sealing, and repair or replace the hidden danger battery pack box.

Only 1347 units were sold in the first five months

It is worth mentioning that the total sales of all models of Lifan Motors (including traditional fuel vehicles and new energy vehicles) in the first five months of this year were less than 1500 units . The recalled Lifan 650EV is the first new energy vehicle launched by Lifan Motors. It is positioned as a compact pure electric car. It was officially launched at the Chongqing Auto Show on June 6, 2018. A total of 2 new models were launched. The official guide price is 16.89-175.8 million yuan, the price after subsidy is 7.99-86.8 million yuan, the comprehensive cruising range exceeds 300km.

Entering 2020, due to the downturn in the auto market and the risk of the epidemic, coupled with issues such as product quality and corporate strategy, Lifan Motors’ operating conditions in the domestic market are worrying. In terms of performance, according to the financial report for the first quarter, Lifan Motors achieved operating income of 560 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 74.88%; the net loss attributable to shareholders of listed companies was 197 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 103.06%. In terms of sales, Lifan's traditional passenger car sales fell 95.49% to 887 units from January to May, and new energy vehicle sales fell 54.50% to 460 units from January to May.
