The oil leakage of these parts has little effect on driving safety. But if the fuel tank leaks, it is estimated that many riders have not experienced it. When encountering a fuel tank leak, you will inevitably get a cold sweat. And this problem really happened to me. At first, it was regarded as an exhaust leak and ignored. But when I found out the truth about the problem, I did feel terrified. There is a fundamental difference between oil tank leakage and exhaust water leakage
Oil and water must be completely different in smell. Once the oil tank leaks, we The properties can be easily observed from the oil traces on the ground. Another point is that if gasoline leaks for a long time, there will be a serious gasoline smell in our car that will not dissipate. Once you encounter these phenomena, you must not take it lightly.
and the exhaust water leakage will be in the lower part of the exhaust pipe, and it is said to be scattered in a small area! Observing the ground stains, you can find that there is no peculiar smell. The most intuitive of the two is that one is water odorless and the other is gasoline.
Checking the oil leak is the key
Once the vehicle is found to leak gasoline, we must turn off the engine and stop the vehicle, and then observe the oil leak as soon as possible Location. When the oil leakage location is not determined, we should not drive forcibly. The leaking parts of the fuel tank have the following points:
1. The bottom of the fuel tank is damaged and leaked due to scratching. We will have a more intuitive driving experience.
2, the fuel tank filler pipe is aging and cracked, causing oil leakage during the fueling process.
3. The oil return pipe of the oil pump outlet pipe is damaged and the pipe head is loose, causing oil leakage.
4. Poor sealing of the oil pump seal ring causes oil leakage in the fuel tank, which is common after filling up gasoline.
And my car has the fourth reason mentioned above, which is the deformation and cracking of the oil pump seal ring, resulting in oil leakage when the tank is full.
What scared you in a cold sweat is far from over!
And after the vehicle was sent to the maintenance point, I was shocked by the glance before me. The rear muffler is installed on the left rear side of the fuel tank. And there are obvious traces of gasoline volatilization near the heat shield. If you are driving at high speeds and long distances, the muffler will have a high temperature, which will inevitably cause a fire. Now think about it very much!
Now that the oil leak is found, start the disassembly process
In fact, the main purpose of showing the disassembly process is to provide you with an emergency treatment idea. Regarding the problem of oil leakage in the fuel tank, if the fuel tank is not damaged due to scratching, we have a high probability of being able to verify the location of the oil leakage. Therefore, it is still necessary for us to keep a screwdriver with the car. Generally, cars will have an oil pump observation hole at the bottom of the rear seat cushion. We can see the oil pump when we open it. The pipeline may be loose after disassembly and cause oil leakage, and we can solve it instantly.
This picture is a picture I took after troubleshooting. As can be seen from the figure, under normal circumstances, the oil pump should be kept dry and clean. There is no gasoline leakage.
When it fails, we can see very obvious gasoline dampness around the oil pump. Gasoline smells great. In this process, if the gasoline pipe joints are not loose, we can try to start the engine and see if the oil leakage point can be seen when the oil pump is pumping oil.
Now most of the automobile gasoline pipe joints will use this disposable quick joint. It is not fixed by screws, but is directly clamped on the oil pump outlet pipe through an internal locking mechanism. It is relatively easy to disassemble. Most riders can easily disassemble and assemble. The main details pay attention to a few points:
1. Before disassembly, we are now gently vibrating the pipe joints. The main purpose is to loosen the internal dust and sand and avoid jamming.
2, thumb and index finger firmly press the buttons at both ends of the quick connector, do not pull it out directly at this time.
3. After pressing the button, move it forward while shaking left and right. The purpose is to make the internal clamp in the most relaxed state.
4. Pull out the tubing backwards, the whole process still requires a lot of force. There will be some oil leakage after pulling out, no need to panic.
After disassembly, the oil inlet and outlet pipe heads on the upper part of the oil pump are relatively fragile. At this time we have to be extra careful. These pipe joints are very fragile. Once squeezed by external force, it is easy to cause breakage. Generally, we can only proceed to the pipeline joint step. After that, professional maintenance personnel are required to operate.
For the disassembly of the oil pump, the upper fixing ring needs to be disassembled. Special tools are required to disassemble this. I would recommend removing the universal oil pump in the main picture. Its diameter can be adjusted. The fixed size of the small picture cannot be adjusted. Generally, only the special oil pump snap ring can be removed.
Disassembled the oil pump and successfully found the oil leakage point
After the oil pump was pulled out, we quickly found the fault point. It is the sealing rubber ring sandwiched between the contact position of the oil pump and the oil tank. Obvious deformation and cracking problems appeared on the edge. After filling up the oil, the internal oil level is high, and the sealing ring cannot be sealed, which leads to the problem of gasoline leakage when the tank is filled.
Comparing the old and new parts, we can intuitively see that the old parts have been swollen due to being soaked in gasoline for a long time. And obvious deformation marks appeared on the edges.
Carefully observe that the seal ring is not broken due to premature aging. Judging from the twisted traces at the fracture, it is likely to be a problem in the assembly of the vehicle before leaving the factory, causing the oil pump seal ring to be biased. After the biasing, the rubber ring was severely squeezed and deformed. As gasoline soaked and time passed, gasoline leakage appeared.
When installing a new oil pump sealing ring, we must check whether the sealing ring is perfectly integrated with the oil pump, and there should be no warping. And the combination must be fastened. When inserting the fuel tank port, we must observe the state of the sealing ring. Avoid curling.
