On May 12, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (hereinafter referred to as "CAAM") released the latest production and sales data. Data show that in April this year, domestic car sales were 2.252 million, a year-on-year increase of 8.6%; the cumulative sales from January to April this year totaled 8.748 million, a year-on-year increase of 51.8%.
In terms of new energy vehicles , in April this year, the sales of new energy vehicles were 206,000 units, down 8.7% from the previous month and up 180.3% year-on-year; from January to April, the sales of new energy vehicles totaled 732,000 units, a cumulative increase of 2.49 times year-on-year.
In addition, the increase in exports was relatively large. In April, 151,000 automobiles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 114.6%. From January to April, a total of 516,000 vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 88.1%.
The China Automobile Association stated that due to the gradual recovery of automobile production and sales in April 2020, the impact of the high growth brought by the low base was significantly weakened, so the year-on-year growth rate of production and sales in April this year was significantly lower than that of the previous month. However, in the cumulative data, compared with the same period in 2019, the production and sales situation is still showing a positive development trend.
