It is said that at the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, although Prime Minister Jia Sidao tried his best to support it, he still could not save the Southern Song Dynasty building from overturning, and it was soon replaced by Yuan Dynasty .

Jia Sidao was later killed by Zheng Huchen, but the court did not kill all Jia Sidao's descendants, and most of them still lived in his hometown of Tiantai.

Time flies, and the Yuan Dynasty was also a short-lived dynasty. It was destroyed by Zhu Yuanzhang and the Ming Dynasty in less than a hundred years.

At this time, among Jia Sidao's descendants, there was a man named Jia Dongming. He was also very smart since he was a child, and he had a photographic memory for reading. But Jia Dongming had no intention of pursuing an official career, and instead yearned for becoming a monk.

Unable to dissuade his family, Jia Dongming became a monk at Guangyan Temple in Tiantai when he was about twelve years old and became a disciple of Monk Pingshan, who was named Huiri.

Although Jia Dongming was born in a scholarly family, he has an unusually tall figure and a gastritis-like appearance. His eyebrows are two or three inches long and his eyes are often gleaming. Since he became a monk with Monk Pingshan, he has strictly abided by the rules and precepts and has become increasingly diligent in his cultivation.

After he was more than 20 years old, Hui Ri left Guangyan Temple and studied with Zen Master Zhuwu of Baiziting in Chicheng Mountain and Guanyin Temple in Shangtianzhu, Hangzhou. He was highly praised by the masters, especially Zen Master Zhuwu, who praised him very much and even said: Huiri will become the head of this temple in the future.

In a blink of an eye, the Yuan Dynasty was also replaced by the Ming Dynasty. After Zhu Yuanzhang pacified the world, one day during the Hongwu period, perhaps thinking that he had once become a monk, Zhu Yuanzhang issued an imperial edict to summon eminent monks from all over the world to come to the capital.

At that time, Zen Master Huiri was already eighty years old. He walked at the head of the procession to see the emperor in the upper hall, showing the demeanor of an eminent monk.

When Zhu Yuanzhang saw Zen Master Huiri, he got off the golden throne and came forward to pay his respects. He also told other civil and military officials that if you have any questions about the mysteries of Buddhist scriptures, you can ask the eminent monk Huiri, and he will definitely be able to clear up your doubts.

After this grand meeting, Zhu Yuanzhang invited Zen Master Huiri to stay in Yingtian for a long time. Zen Master Huiri did indeed stay in the capital for a long time.

However, he has a rigorous personality and is unsmiling even when he is facing princes and ministers. However, as long as people come to ask him for advice, no matter they are poor or children, they can be kind and kind, making people feel like they are sitting in the spring breeze.

But a few years later, Zen Master Huiri was no longer willing to stay in the capital. After many pleas, the court agreed to his request.

So, Zen Master Huiri left Yingtian and returned to Hangzhou, and finally stayed at Guanyin Temple in Shangtianzhu, which really fulfilled his master's words back then.

In the blink of an eye, it has been Hongwu twelve years. In the past few years, Zen Master Huiri has been meditating in Guanyin Temple. Apart from giving lectures to the disciples, he basically no longer manages secular things.

On the night of the first day of the seventh lunar month of this year, Hui Ri had a dream. He dreamed that a square pond suddenly appeared outside the temple gate, with clear waves rippling in the pond, and a blue lotus blooming brightly. The lotus petals open, reflecting each other with the clear water of the pond, and exuding bursts of fragrance.

Early the next morning, Hui Ri called his apprentice Miao Xiu and told him about his dream last night, saying that this was a good omen for me to be reborn in the Pure Land of the West. A master-disciple meeting between you and me would be considered as an explanation in advance.

Three days later, on the fourth day of July, Zen Master Huiri sat down in the quiet room early in the morning, wrote a Buddhist verse and placed it next to the futon, then closed his eyes and closed his hands, and passed away quietly at the age of 89.
