Zhangzhou Longshou Shaoqing Xingfa Zen Master, the dharma heir of Xuefeng Yicun Zen Master, his common surname is Chen, a native of Quanzhou. Zen Master Shaoqing became a monk when he was young and lived in Lingyan Temple to study scriptures. After completing his studies, he began to practice meditation and visited various places. Later, I asked the Dharma in Xuefeng, and after working diligently for several years, I gained a clear mind.

One day, Zen Master Shaoqing accompanied Zen Master Xuefeng while walking on the mountain road. Suddenly, the red taro leaves in the field beside the road rustled. Zen Master Xuefeng quickly pointed to the turbulent red taro leaves for Zen Master Shaoqing to see.

Zen Master Shaoqing said: "Shaoqing is very afraid of fear."

Zen Master Xuefeng said: "This is inside your house, what are you afraid of?"

Zen Master Shaoqing had a great enlightenment after saying this, and his fear suddenly disappeared. From then on, he stopped wandering around.

Later, at the request of believers, he lived in Longxi to conduct teachings.

"What is there in your house, what are you afraid of?" This is similar to what is said in the Heart Sutra: "Because there is nothing to gain, Bodhisattva, and because of Prajna Paramita, the heart has no hindrances, and because there are no hindrances, there is no fear, stay away from upside-down dreams, and reach ultimate nirvana." If we also understand this sentence, we will be able to deal with it calmly when faced with scary things in the future.

Zen Master Guiben of Shuangquan Yuan in Yungai, Xiangzhou, heir of Zen Master Xuefeng Yicun, a native of Jingzhao Prefecture. He became a monk at a young age, received full ordination at the age of sixteen, and recited the Lotus Sutra for a long time. Later, he studied with Zen Master Xuefeng and learned about the nature of mind.

When I first visited Xuefeng, Zen Master Guiben had just finished praying and was getting ready. Zen Master Xuefeng suddenly stepped off the Zen bed and straddled Zen Master Guiben’s back.

Zen Master Guiben’s thoughts were suddenly interrupted by Zen Master Xuefeng’s sudden action, and he suddenly realized something.

Zen Master Guiben later lived in Shuangquan Courtyard of Yungai Mountain in Xiangzhou to teach the Dharma.

A monk once asked: "What does it mean to come from the West?" Zen Master Guiben suddenly grabbed the monk, and the monk was so frightened that his face changed. Zen Master Guiben said: "I don't have this here."

It can be seen from this that there seems to be a certain connection between Zen Master Guiben's style of accepting people and the cause and condition of his initial enlightenment. Zen Master Guiben's fingers are slender and unique, so he is called the master of palmistry.
